  1. good stuff dude! Great way to enjoy an evening I reckon
  2. Improved slightly but, still not good to watch. I'm not tuning in again until Top gear is on again.
  3. Say no more.
  4. Nice to hear the sound of speed. But, there is more than one octave on the piano This sort of sound is good too;
  5. Good. Your budget is too small for a start. You like the nature of a fairly stock car and why not. Getting the extra power is however something that doesn't say why 60-70hp is the magic number. Why 60-70hp? Well you could upgrade the car to give you this amount of addtional power without really impacting the way the car drives too badly. A new 2530 sized turbo would do this and with minimal difference in lag. Assuming you also take care of the tyres and suspension setup you can stick the extra power down to the road better. You will ideally want an upgraded ecu and fuel pump and a beefier clutch friction plate (the stock pressure plate pressure is quite fine). That will keep everything you like about the car but, up the power and straight line speed. You want to be making use of that on a track by the way for full benifit.
  6. I think you have to start with who on the forum 'claims' to be an expert. First of all a motoring journo' like this guy gets paid to make this claim and so his review is naturally put forward to be scrutinised by the paying public. This is evident by the 'comments' section to it , so lets certainly feel free to stick the boot in where it's warranted. We are wanting a review on a performance car so it might be understood that this is the area we look hardest at the review, the performance verdict. This guy has been in the industry for a long time so I am really let down with how lame some of his last reviews have been on various cars. You also have to remember that good old Paul has a track record of GTR hate, he was making big deals out of Porka's claim against the GTR's ring time, if you recall. Looking at some of the critical elements we see his weak logic at play. The weight comments. A C63 is as fat as the GTR weight wise and has less aero going it's way and suspension and and and.... But, you know what. Neither of these cars 'feel heavy'. If reviewers weren't told, they would guess it was a super light car by the way it responds. There are plenty of reviews around that testify to the 'light and responsive' feel to the car. he never got to test the brakes but, makes comment that they won't last? Picking cars like the Lotus also disqualify some of his 'parking' and other comfort requirement whines. You don't need to look hard to see the contradictions. He's laid a poo this time. Maybe he should retire now, he's had a good run and once was a decent motor journo?
  7. Why 220-230rwkw? If all you want is a dyno readout then photoshop one. On the other hand you can squeeze more 'go' out of your car but, sometimes there are compromises. Tell us what it is you like about the car and exactly (as best you can) describe what you want the car to 'do' better. Set an actual goal. This lessens the dollar waste and increases satisfaction because you have a design plan, not some half assed thought.
  8. -9's have the exact same part number as the HKS GT-SS cartridge. I checked some time ago. -9's/SS are the only choice if you want smaller than the -5's. They are as responsive as -7's but with more guts.
  9. Rusty Brumby ute is 'alive' = FAIL LOL
  10. We say that so you aren't tempted to be a retard and actually go to the drag strip instead of walking around telling various people what your car "would run". It's a public service we offer here.
  11. Seriously don't even bother asking what time your car 'can do' because until you run it you won't know. What if it breaks before you do a full pass? There is no point having the time in your head. You won't go any faster. You possibly might feel the pressure and end up slower. You certainly don't want to be one of those types who say " yeah I haven't run my car over the 1/4 but, everyone on the internets says it will do a 12..." Don't be one of 'those'. Talk is cheap. Drag racing is lots of fun. Go do it. Have a laugh and come and tell us all about it. If you want to go a bit quicker next time people can help with some advice based on what you bring back with you. As I said 14.9@98mph till you do something about it.
  12. yeah but, he hasn't run his car yet. So until he does, he gets the appropriate response for a 'gonna' 14.9@98MPH They would be alot meaner to him in the motorsport section
  13. 1) why? 2) if the answer is to beat x time or x car that does x time then the power is just a means to an end and it's not the only one. whatever power is needed to win is all that matters. However much power that happens to be is not the point.
  14. sexy? Then you must buy something that you do not have to explain to anyone. Disobey this rule and you fail. This means a bunch of those cars and the bmw is out. As you can't be caught saying ; "....yeah but, it's like the 1 series only it's got a 3 litre twin turbo motor in it and the gear box is ..blah blah blah.." = sexyness of farting out your mouth You might want to just buy a fast car you like to drive and for the sex appeal just get some advice and maybe take a bath and look after yourself. My cars can look like someone ran over them with a monster truck as long as they go like hell and drive well. I'm Married
  15. depends what you want to do with the car exactly. shear performance?
  16. You MUST do the VOLVO !!!! 240 series Volvo wagon. Pic's of my old one attached Forged holden V8 , t350 shift kit, B&M quick shifter, 3.9 dana lsd. My old one was the family car. Wife drove it around with two baby seats and a pram in the back it ran consistant 13.9 second 1/4 miles @ 101mph. All while being on LPG and getting pretty great ecconomy. Only had to sell it as a new kid came along and we needed more seating. I had a much bigger cam to drop in (the motor was built for 400+ hp) and a high stall which would have seen it run into the high 12's. They are the complete package. In fact my old wagon was the most enjoyable car I have ever owned. I have never laughed so much or as often during car ownership and it was super reliable in all the volvo areas. If I had the time I would build another one. * They are repulsively ugy to the point the everyone including the police ignor you to avoud hurting thier eyes. * It creates a doomsday kill story for anyone claiming to either win or lose against you. Both stories can't be told to mates without massive reprisal * So easy to convert them / work on them. * The rear diff is a Dana and it's quite easy to get hold of LSD's and different ratios, they will take a lot of power to break, ditto the axles. * There is lots of room in the engine bay for a V8. and trans tunnel is big. * The chassis is well...volvo , so large power isn't going to warp it easily. * The brakes are already vented and of a decent size. * Easy to get engineering cert. * Great for crashing into things. * Very Comfortable daily driver. *** The looks on peoples faces at the traffic lights or basically anywhere, when you are sitting next to them or start the car up can not be beaten by anything. Regardless of how ignorant the people are about cars Volvo's are automatically recognised along with the culture so having one rumble like world war three makes sure you have an impact. *** They have an awesome turning circle and are super easy to park. It's like the the tardis of parking. If you want to go stupid then ..... twin turbo V8 one like this.
  17. 132mph terminal for a barge ass weight car = lots of power. easy 10's driven right.
  18. What sort of performance advantage, track times or purpose are you selecting the 750hp supercharger setup for?
  19. You will get caught. And then you will pay " Stupid Tax". By the sounds of it you will pay alot of stupid tax.
  20. too slow Hair dressers car styling from the old TT hanging around The only things you are upgrading from the R34GTR is ghey styling (for hair dressers) Go from a fast car to a distinctively slower car. If you answered yes to a slower car, lets face it you are doing some sort of uncool reality check.
  21. R1's a bike isn't it? You can get a $10k straight line older car. And like I said, if the money is tight then you will be selling the same car in a broken state not long after buying it once you start using the 'go' often.
  22. I think if you have only got $10k then real performance is beyond your budget, no matter what the starting price of the car is.
