  1. Prestige currently have a series 2 manual in stock - I would have brought it within minutes of it going up, accept I've already just bought another stagea (going on the boat soon...:-)! See http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/au/st...sp?StockID=3206 Looks much better than the one in brisbane, and is cheaper (of course, you aren't getting it through a 'yard') and is more likely to have genuine km's etc... Ian
  2. ... and different width tyres DO have different circumferances (as I pointed out..).
  3. Different WIDTH tyres implies different CIRCUMFERENCE tyres (though you can play with the profile to get them closer). Thus one revolution of the front wheel will take you a different distance than one revolution of the back wheel.. Unless you car is growing (or shrinking) in length :-) that would imply either wheel slip or that you are driving the front/back wheels at different rates all the time... Ian
  4. Yep, I probably should have said that instead of my method... Don't forget to have the car in neutral when you do it (otherwise you might have a slight problem turning the wheels...). Ian
  5. has anyone been courageous enough to buy this one in brisbane??
  6. Alternatively, and I've done this in my youth more than once :-), from a standing start put your foot all the way to the floor, and once you moving OK (say about 4 seconds later) do a sharp 180 degree corner (foot still flat to the floor). If you hear a cracking noise and loose power half way around, you do not have a LSD.. :-) Ian
  7. Yep, they were optional on the auto's, but came as standard on the manuals... So check to see if your (auto) car has one before you buy it! :-) Ian
  8. how can someone own a skyline/stagea and not be on SAU... :-) You need to pull them over and tell them it's just not acceptable...
  9. hate to tell you this :-), but there are no pictures - and I don't mean that in the same way that there is no spoon (at least you could see the spoon, even though it wasn't there..)... Ian
  10. More photo's?
  11. One of my friends has just clocked over his 500,000Kms in his R31 skyline. Apart from replacing the injectors about 2 years ago, and the normal maintance stuff (belts etc) it has never had a sick day... They made these engines to last!! So I agree with Sydneykid, k's aren't the thing to worry about - some cars that have done 200,000Kms are in better condion than ones that have done 30,000...
  12. don't forget to post them!
  13. ... all skylines love cold air!

    34 Daughterboards

..at the moment this group buy isn't going anywhere fast, and I also can't find the rom address data - nobody who has it seems to be able to tell me exactly where to get it from...
  15. I've actually got the numbers for when the torque converter will lock/unlock if you'd like me to post them.. But they are for the R34 M-AT box, which I'm not sure is in the Stagea - I suspect not for the series 1, and possibly for the series 2 (can anyone with a series 2 comment?) Ian
  16. The old Magna one was widely recognised as one of the worst in the world, with the Ford piece of crap not far behind it.. The nissan M-AT box is actually quite good (I've got one in the R34 GTX Turbo) . Using the paddles - downshifts are very fast, upshifts have a small lag, but you get used to pushing the button a fraction of a second before you need it (we are talking parts of a second, not seconds!)... Ian
  17. Which CRO did you get? :-) Ian
  18. Model: TGKNREAC34UZA-BACC Prod: 97/04 (ie series 1) auto rb25det (always good to check, as a lot of auction sheets are wrong!) ext color: KR4 Internal color: Z 4WD. Ian
  19. and it was HEAVIER and only available as an auto...
  20. I've had a good look into them over the last few months while I've been stagea shopping - and firmly decided on a 34 based model instead. And not because of price as there isn't much difference between a late 34 model vs the 35 - in fact, the 34's are often a bit more expensive (which tells you something..) - but because of the engine etc.. Of course, I'm happy to be corrected, but from what I could find out the r34 GTT Neo was a better engine than what they put in the 35's... Anybody got more info than I could find??
  21. A little better engine is a bit of an understatement! Much better engine, plus better turbo, better steering, better suspension, better interior, .... BUT, if you really do want fast times, I suspect to the probelm will be the rear wheel drive - my 255/45 tires will just spin if I'm not to carefull. So while the 4 wheel drive system gives you extra weight, it also gives you extra traction! Ian
  22. Do you mean a series 2, Manual, Low KM's? if so, no way. eg one of the auctions today of a manual 2000 model (in Japan), with only 43K kms, STARTS bidding at 1.3M yen (not FOB) - so even if it went for it's start bid, your'e at $28K without tires, stamp duty, rego, etc... And that's doing it through an importer, not a yard!! I suspect, if it sells, it will go for about 1.65M yen ie about $33.2K landed, not including tires etc etc... Ian
  23. You obviously didn't see one of my earlier posts - I'm sure they use hyperspace to get them from another dimension! :-) The trouble with auction reports is that you have to be able to believe them. I'm NOT making a comment about this particular car, but in general I'm probably only going to believe auction sheets either directly from the auction sites in Japan, or from someone I believe is a reputable importer. But that could just be that I'm paranoid. Ian
  24. Actually, in the electrical store that can work - as you know what you are buying is new, it has to pass all the safety standards, and is probably something made in the millions of units, so it should work the way you expect... So you might be able to buy it from the specs alone... :-) Of course, a second hand car, with no history, no auction sheet, no independent inspection, which isn't even in the dealers yard, is a BIT more of an ask... :-) ie how stupid do I look? (you don't have to answer that...)
  25. Last time I rang, it hadn't got here and they told me I'd have to buy it well before it arrived, as there was a lot of interest. I asked them to keep me informed, and haven't heard back... Ian
