Yep, real easy for people who know how. Just look at some of the import yards (particularly in QLD..) - all the cars (from 1990 to 1999) have 45K plus or minus 10K... You should get the original Japanese auction sheet, as there is a fair chance it hasn't been changed before then... (see http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=87300 for an example....) Ian

2001 Stagea Vg25det For Sale On Carsales
ian replied to darrinspencer's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I had a good look at them when I was buying a few months ago, and firmly decided a S2 was better. Also, the VG's only came in auto. This one is also overpriced, and given the add it also probably isn't in Australia anyway... -
..although the KM's probably aren't helping you - A member rang me about your car before I'd seen the post, and said "$25K, 42000km,.." and the first thing I said was "in QLD?" See some of the other posts on the topic, it is very very very rare to get a car with that many K's from 1998, even in Japan. And if it did have that many, it would be noticably expensive! So not saying you did, but someone before you has probably put the clock back, and anybody reading the add will be suspicious. If you have proof of them, you should post it as I reckon that will help your sale.. As will posting the original Japanese auction report... Of course, may not make any difference... Edit: and I should say the km's should be irrelevant for anyone looking at a car anyway, look at it's condition etc. skylines/stageas are only starting to be 'run in' at 100,000kms, and I would call them "high km's" until well over 200,000. They were just built so well it doesn't matter (someone I know has recently clocked over 500,000 in his R30, with the only 'major' problem new fuel injectors abotu 100,000k's ago...). So look at the car, and ignore the km's... Ian

fire will be going nicely by then .. :-) And guys, I'll be checking to make sure my manual transmission is still IN my car when I go to leave the carpark.. Ian

Yep, compatible with anything... It simply has to plug into the speedo wire (to get the pulse), and then it has a electric motor (which is why it is called an electric cruise control) that goes over to your throttle and controls it. Works fantastically. I had mine installed for me (ok, I'm slack) and can't remeber the cost - somewhere around $500 from memory. You can get cheaper ones, but the aren't as good... Ian

I'm going to start a list of all the main differences I find between a stagea series 1 and series 2, though we can't post tables here so don't blame me about the format. More coming as I find them... ie item, [s1], [s2] Engine [RB25DET], [NEO RB25DET] turbo [from R33 GTST] [from R34 GTT] intercooler [from R33 GTST] [from R34 GTT] Rear steering, [none], [HICAS] Front seats - different front and rear light configuration - different dash gauges [no torque split etc], [torque split, voltage, oil temp] Transmission [4spd Auto (E-AT)], [5spd manual (MT) or Tiptronic 4 speed (M-AT)] Wheels [16 inch], [16 or 17 inch] ... Hmmm, how stupid am I feeling today.. :-) Yep - I got it for the wife, but I've ended up driving it myself quite a bit.. :-) Bayside Blue (BB), what other colour would you want... :-) Though I reckon muck's looks pretty good as well (for one that isn't BB), it's in the "Super clear red II" (correct me if I'm wrong) - you should post some picks of it. Thinking about it... Ian

If so, I know what you want... I'm putting mine on in the next few weeks - and I'm going to put on the same one as I put on my R34 ie the Rostra Global one. It's all electric (so no touching the vacuum hoses, which is a good thing), has the buttons on a RF connected thing (so no wires up the wheel etc) (not to mention you can clip it off the wheel and give it to the wife to set the speed :-) and keeps speed better than any I've used before - much better than any factory standard one I've used... I'll take some photo's of the one I put in the R34 and stick them up. Ian

..I do (see the pics in the gallery..)

I'm pretty sure what he was referring to was the OWNERS manual ie not the workshop one. And the owners one probably doesn't have anything in it that would interest you (I have the original Japanese one still in the glove box...). The Series 1 workshop manual isn't to hard to find (to buy) on the net, I still haven't found a series 2 one though, and the differences between the series 1 and 2 are starting to mount when I start looking into it in more detail... ie the reason I couldn't see the HICAS under you car the other day was that series 1's don't have it! (so the engine, turbo, intercooler, ecu, rear steering, etc etc are different between a 1 and 2 - they should have changed the model number!) Ian

I don't think that's quite right. When I went hunting for one a couple of years ago for my skyline - which has a bit different windscreen that the two door - I found a place in QLD that made them pretty much to order once they had one that they could use as a template. At the time they were just about to start making R34 4 door ones, but I ended up not needing it so didn't procede. I sugest you ring and ask them about the stagea - ring "moran windscreens" 07 5591 7242 Price quoted to me at the time was less than a grand. The other place to try is NZ - it was cheaper than getting one from Japan when I was looking around. Try "national auto glass suppliers" on (0011 64) 9 634 17 88. Let me know how you go. Ian

Well, we will find out tommorrow when I bring my S2 over and park it next to your S1.. :-)

If you didn't notice this thread (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49484) please have a read of the end of it ie if you are in Melbourne with a stagea and want to get a towbar, join us in approaching prestige.. :-)

Sorry, already sold via PM to someone in Melbourne. You missed them by about an hour.. Rest going shortly I suspect.. Wife will be very happy not to have them sitting around! Ian -
And you can all look at my original one .. :-)
-
I might put mine off from next week till later then - I was going to have to do that anyway as the wife told me tonight that she was going to need the stagea next week (I can't complain, as I still have the R34 to drive.. ) Anybody else in Melbourne want one?? (I need to get mine before I sell my skyline as we carry bikes on it..). Ian

I think SK did mod his muffler - you maybe should scan through the posts to look. I'm pretty sure that everyone I've heard of that got up to that weight had to.. Edit: Yep -

Tires For Sale (melbourne)
ian replied to ian's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Sorry, I didn't realise there were rules on putting a price on. I'll do that tonight, with a "or nearest offer" attached. I just want to get rid of them at whatever the market price is. Having no idea, I'll post a price and and see what happens.. -
The problem with 1500kg is the muffler -(as per this long post ) I've had the guys at prestige look at it already and they say there is no way they can do that without lowering the muffler etc etc etc, so I'm not going to bother. So more info after they have done mine - and I don't think a group by will work as we don't have enough stageas in Melbourne.. :-) Can't remember the price (I can look it up) but it was quite reasonable for a proper custom made one - if you read the skyline threads on towbars you'll see plenty of dodgy jobs...
-
It might take a while for them to get here... I'm going to get Prestige to do mine next week, as they did my skyline in Jan 2004 and I was happy with the result (see http://www.r34skyline.com/towbar/index.htm). Mind you, I don't pull anything really heavy with it, it mainly gets used as a push bike holder :-), but seems to be better done that quite a few others I've seen. Ian

The POT will have zero resistance at one end, so wouldn't be diming it at all.. So I don't think chopping it out will gain you anything. Ian
