How Long Do Topics Last?
ian replied to ian's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
hmm, I had never noticed that on the bottom of the page.. User (me) stupidity! However, I'm not sure what the search is doing. ie I looked for two words ie 'melbourne' 'stagea', but it didn't find my old post (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=71316) which definitly had those two words in it.... -
- I'm editing the top post to add names, we will give it a few more days then organise a time and place for lunch and car look I can bring a digital camera
-
I prefer what mine looks like... Edit: How do you get the images to display full sized like above? ahh, got it. Though I still don't know how to get them up to this server, as my understanding is that the gallery has been dead since the transfer....
-
I've only just noticed that there only appears to be topics that have been posted to in the last month available (unless they are sticky). Are the older ones archived somewhere? Can search access them? Or do I need to save off anything useful that appears in a topic?? Ian

Forum Has Stopped Working In Firefox
ian replied to ian's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
is now working (and no, I didn't change anything at my end....) -
actually, I just did a search and that post isn't around anymore. In fact, the stagea posts only seem to be staying around for a few months, then they are gone..... I better start copying usefull stuff over to my web site so that I've still got it when I need it!!
-
That was I thread I started many months ago asking for any Melbourne owners of a series 2 - as I wanted to look at one before buying one. I didn't get many responses (ie non from series 2 owners!) So I think it's better to start a new thread that's a bit wider.. :-)
-
Apart from me and AlexCim, are there any other Melbourne stagea owners out there? If so, post a reply to this, as we should help each other out on various stagea issues We should also get together sometime soon to look at all the different stageas! Ian Edit: So we have - ian AlexCim muck burns michaeljquinn NRGIZD - going to in 5 weeks stagi-r - but can't make this lunch Others???? Now wonder we don't see too many around town! So it's going to be on the 1st of October (2005), at 12 noon, jells park, entrance at page 71, k6, the REALL Y big carpark. Ian

OK, so it's the default skin that has a problem with firefox - something must have changed in the last 24 hours or so... -
I thought you'd like to know that some time in the last 24 hours the forum has stopped working 100% in firefox - all the background colors have gone, and a lot of the page formatting has been lost Fine still in opera, and I upgraded my firefox to the latest (1.06) and still have the same problem. Or I can reset it for you with my laptop if you'd like.. Ian

Thanx. I think the wife will be driving it quite a bit, as I've got my R34 GTX tubo which I still like:) The ideal mom and dad cars if you ask me Though, as I have commented above, it is surprising how well the stagea goes. They both have the same motor (NEO) and the stagea is 200kg heavier, so I'm pleasantly surprised... OK, back to the thread topic The CONSULT port is definitely NOT on the right hand side of the steering wheel under the dash (where it is in the R34) - so it has obviously moved between a S1 and S2. Does anyone have an S2 and they have found it?????? It's got to be here somewhere!! Ian
-
The Stagea is excellent - better handling, space, and go than I was expecting. Why anyone would buy anything else (if you need a wagon) is beyond me! :-) I'll put some pics up if your interested - as it's in bayside blue (ie more noticable than silver/white) I've already had a few people come up and ask what it is.. :-) Only problems so far (I've done 400Km in the three days since rego) is idiot drivers pulling in front of the 'slow' wagon - particularly at roundabouts.. hmm, that's where is is in my R34, but the stagea doesn't have it there... I'll look again in daylight tommorrow... Ian
-
The stagea has arrived, and I got it rego'd yesterday! First question - where is the consult plug?? I looked (I think) in all the obvious places, and it has to be there somewhere.. Yep, feeling a bit stupid, but would be happy for feedback (on where the plug is, not on my stupidity )

Fuel economy, what you can do about it.
ian replied to AlexCim's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Yep I get those types of numbers from my R34GTT - but mine is M-AT and is often in full auto (wife driving) and is the 4 door sedan. But the series 1 stagea is 200KG heaver, with the not as good (ie non NEO) engine - and one of the benefits that Nissan claimed for the NEO was that it was better on fuel usage even though it had more power.. So I'm not sure where that puts the stagea... I'll do a lot more posting in a couple of weeks, as my stagea arrived yesterday :-) I'll be able to directly compare that to my R34 as I've got a series 2 (ie NEO) - in fact, they look absolutely identical under the hood.. :-) Ian -
Apexi Super Ignition Timing Computer
ian replied to Sydneykid's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
It might seem a silly question - but what would you be doing different if you had a manual??Ian -
Though if that is really what you are after (ie bang), get a R32 GTR and do it up :-) That's not a negative comment for the R34 (I have one and like it a lot) but if you are on a limited budget, and just want 'bang', an R32 GTR is your cheapest way of doing it.. I've owned 32's, 33's, and 34's (helped that I lived in tokyo for a while ) and think the two best cars (excluding the R34 GTR which is still too expensive) are the R32GTR and the R34 GTT, for different reasons/purposes/costs.. Ian
-
Clearly a few people are unsure of the difference between a R33 GTT and a R34 GTT. In one word - MASSIVE. The R34 has a much much better engine (both stock, and as a base to do up), better turbo, better steering (super HICAS), better brakes, better body, better interior, etc etc etc. If you can remotely afford the extra few K's, go for the R34.Ian

Having seen what a broken timing belt can do :-( I suspect the other way around would be good.. ie I tend to change them before 100,000k's, not after.. But I agree with Sydneykid, the other stuff virtually never needs changing - so shop around and get a good price for the belt change (I'd guess that somewhere in the $400's would be about right...). Edit: Just in case you don't have it, I've attached the R34 maintenance handbook - I think it would be a safe assumption to apply the same to the stagea. Ian R34_Scheduled_Maintenance_Handbook.pdf
