Why Have The Rear Lower Than The Front?
BHDave replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
it's because the front guards are typically cut 20mm higher than the rear. So by running the center to guard heights 10mm less at the rear you actually end up with about 10mm of rake as the front is lower -
zilch, just guessing based on the numbers given on your receipt, but does yours have a stock style turbine housing or a proper garrett internal gate housing? What about actuator and boost controller? It just seems to be coming onto boost fairly slowly.

OMFG.

I'd be inclined to say more camber front and rear, min 3 front 1-1.5 rear as it sounds like you are rolling over on the outside wheel a bit I like toe out on the front but i have a gtst and don't know if it translates to gtr. It certainly improves turn in. What's it like on corner exit? oversteer or under? Possibly tighten the rear bar if it's understeering. That should also improve turn in

Rb20 Running Lean At Idle...need Help,air Leak?
BHDave replied to craz4240's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
to be honest it just sounds like your light load/idle tune needs a bit of work. I'd only be guessing re the k constant in your situation, but have you played with the map at all or just changed the constant to get it in the ball park? -
start and flush it before you do the injectors if you don't have the pfc. It'll probably idle with the 555's but it might not and then your stuck waiting for the pfc to arrive before you can do anything.
-
the easiest way to spot it is turbine size. 60mm is uncropped gt30. 56.5mm is cropped. 2.75 inlet is the easier to install as it is a closer match to the stock inlet size, 4inch requires a bit of mucking around. It will easily do 250-260, it will stretch to do 275-280 i'd say.

If you are going to get a 3071 then bite the bullet and get the proper 3071 with a proper garrett IW housing and get your front pipe modded to suit. If you look here this is the cart you want. As you can see in the text the turbine housings are interchangable with a 3076 as it's the same turbine. If the HPIAB turbo is different to whats shown on the garrett site then you likely have a cropped turbine version which is a bit of a nugget. Take a trip to chipping norton and see garrett direct or even gcg at condell park, because there is a .82IW housing available for the real 3071.

'jun Style' Copy Intake Plenum For Rb25
BHDave replied to jonnob55's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Did you have to muck about to fit the tps or did it bolt up? I've seen the TB's on ebay and often wondered if it would work Very interested to see a before and after dyno. -
Thinking Of Moving To Campbelltown From The Uk
BHDave replied to shane 01782's topic in New South Wales
heh, you should probably visit before making sweeping statements. The area is huge with the majority of the population being young families. A large proportion of residential development in sydney in the last 20 years has been out here. Nothing wrong with it, property is very well priced lots of new housing around the place rather than 40 year old houses/blocks of units in the inner suburbs. Close to oran park, though in 3 years that will have likely been closed and developed, easy drive to wakefield park. Travel to the city is a bitch if you drive as the M5 is backed up from about 6am, trains are accessable though. I just bought a 7 year old house on an 880m2 block for under 400k. You can't do that anywhere else in sydney. -
damn you luke! cutting short my track time and making me work on a nugget other than my own between sessions!
-
when you corner hard, the body rolls. with soft springs and stock sway bars it can roll enough that the tyre will contact the guard. As you have teins you are probably fine.
-
Don't worry too much, i paid over a month ago and i'm still not confirmed. It was the same last time. It'll get sorted a bit closer to the day.
-
As above, if it's low you will need the guards rolled, skinnier tyre and possibly some extra camber. If it's stockish height with fairly stiff spings it'll be fine If it's stock height with stock springs you could have a few issues when you load up the outside wheel as you can put the wheel up inside the guard if you try hard enough, but it will fit otherwise.

R32gtst Bonnet, Guards, Rims, M's Pod
BHDave replied to BHDave's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
sorry whyte, the r32 and r33 front halfs are completely different. The r32 has the center bearing on the front half and the r33 has it on the back half from memory (or vice versa). The yoke size is different as well. -

Bonnet sold -
Only front tie rod ends. they work really well with the roll center adjusters too as the line of the lower control arm and the tie rod remain close to parallel. I haven't looked at rear stuff yet but i suspect i'd need a modded hicas lock bar to move the inner ball joint upwards rather than the outer down as it's fixed in the hub. http://page14.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/s15581679 here's a yahoo link if you have a japan contact. pm me if you don't and i can give you details of the guy i use. http://www.moonface-int.com/mfr/tie/tierod/adjusttierod.htm and the original. check the japanese version of the site for prices hope that helps
-
The picture that he posted is a set of after market rose jointed tie rod ends, not castor rods as a lot of people seem to think
-
ESP sport. Got them off japanese yahoo. They are chunky, sealed, and feature a spaced down ball joint to reduce bump steer. They are a copy of the moon face racing tie rod end. I would never even consider running one of those rose jointed ones as i hit too many ripple strips.

Rb20 Vs Rb25 Air Conditioning Compressor?
BHDave replied to yogibear's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
added bonus is that the r33 compressor is smaller and lighter I went with the r32 compressor on mine when i converted as all the lines match up, so it's just a bolt up job. Mine was still working well at the time too so i didn't disconnect it. One less complication in the conversion. If you go with the r33 compressor then you will need to get some custom lines made up to suit so it adds to the cost. Whether the cost of a regas and lines is less than a conversion you'll have to find out for yourself -

Height Not Balance
BHDave replied to psychoacid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
depends on tyre width. 235/45-17 will be a couple of mm taller, 225/45-17 will be about the same. But yes, there are some older entry level struts and springs that are non adjustable, i can't say i've looked at the bottom end of the current line up closely to confirm if it is still the case -
Height Not Balance
BHDave replied to psychoacid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yep. My last set of non adjustable tiens were like that. Passenger side rear sat a bit higher. If you have NA or NR check and see if there is circlip height adjustment. Otherwise you are kind of stuck. -

i will have in a week or so, just waiting on my gtr ones to arrive. The top mount has snapped off where the screw goes through but i've just had a big washer on there holding it in place for the last 3 years with no problem
