My not so technical explanation: black - absorbs more heat from the sun and therefore if subject to direct exposure...will raise intake temperatures. Silver - may reflect heat from the sun ...but highly noticable by the police...who by freak of luck pulls u over for illegal modifications > this transfers to a heated arguement with the police about how u are just trying to make ur engine more 'efficient' ...to no avail and u cop a fine or worse a defect sticker...u then need to pay to have the intercooler removed and spend $$$ you dont really have which then transfers to a heated arguement with the wifey (especially since u rejected her proposal to upgrade kitchen cabinets on the basis of lack of funds) > which makes u get all heated up coz ur all fu coz u aint seein no heat in the bedroom .... therefore in conclusion....imho ..silver transfers more heat

i have a stagea with the rb25det engine...only mod so far is a 3 inch turbo back exhaust and was wondering about the exact same thing for some time now i dont think its anything wrong with the car as it still pulls hard at times...but after having driven for like 1/2 hour in traffic...just doesnt seem to have any torque left in the bugger.... might have something to do with the stock cooler ..but even the exhaust note is different after heat soak...seems to stutter more and pops every now and again on decelaration. but cant really complain...still goes like the clappers when i floor the gas

Rob, you may find that the afc2 is kinda overpriced...u can get them new practically anywhere for less than AUD400 unless ur talking of the afc neo

I work in Scarborough so looking for somewhere nearby where i can drop the car off to have the muffler fitted and pick it up on the way home. Ian Diffens at Osb Park quoted $200 for the job...not sure about the quality of works though...dont really mind the split donut pipe works ..just worried about them using the bender and crushing the pipes coz i dont think they do mandrel

just a quick question coz i cant for the life of me remember the physics behind the heat transfer properties of different colours...will there be any significant difference in heat transfer between a cooler in its standard aluminium form..or one thats painted matt black?

height from ground ...i can get the exhaust shop to weld bracket hooks so it sits well and snug maybe even partially hidden.. as for db...im hoping it sound quieter than the cannon...which at present is as loud as #%^& btw...anyone know of a good exhaust shop in perth NOR ...? custom exhaust specialist in osborne park wont fit 2nd hand mufflers

I have a 3 inch turbo back exhaust with a cannon tip muffler...dont have the cash to replace the whole system...not that theres anything wrong with it....but recently i bought an apexi dunk megaphone muffler which i intend to use....however it comes with a 4 inch inlet and 115mm tip....is that going to get me a yellow sticker?

most panel beaters will swear by their work.....so i have no doubts that you know ur stuff and confident in the repairs...but for me personally...seen one too many accidents where cut n join cars split in 2 in a road accident....sends shivers down my spine....not that it isnt possible on factory cars ...but if i knew the car i was driving had that many repairs done to it...will be to scared to enjoy driving it.

changed gears and popped clutch at high revs, excessive road camber, gale force winds coming sideways, mysterious dissappearing oil patch, that initial-D sticker on the windscreen...could be anything mate...i'd personally get my shocks and alignment checked if i was paranoid about it.

mine has done that like 3 times in the past couple of months.. under sudden braking...not stalled to a point where it dies off...but rather the idling was slightly unstable. I'm using the stock bov with only a larger exhaust for mods...will get my safc installed to see if that solves it...else i might get a hks eids to stablise the idle.
