  1. I came down the pass yesterday in the work truck, it's all cleaned up and the RTA was also cleaning up the shoulders of rubbish and whatnot. Good time to go IMO, might bring GR33DD for a last hoorah before the rebuild
  2. Kind of looks a bit less "busy" than the standard do luck
  3. Hey Kris is that a different rear bar on the bottom two pics?
  4. +1 thinking of getting this kit but unsure of the rear bar
  5. I've been talking to a couple of people about these turbos. Is there enough info on them yet to figure out what would be a, say 3076 equivalent?? As in peak power equivalent
  6. Thanks a heap guys you've helped me see the light. 2.0- if you have a look on the powerplay imports site under eastbear there is a side on shot of a grey 33 which shows the side bars. I have to sus out if it's gonna be too low though, I had a look at a jun style front today and quite liked it. I'm not 100% on the rear bar, I'm after something that will fill out the back more and would like to have somesort of diffuser, that's why I like the veilside. I really like the topsecret style cf diffusers but I think my exhaust will foul on it. When I'm on the computer and not the iPhone I'll post up some pics I've been collecting of different rear options.
  7. Yeah 280-300 would be nice, TO4GTR reckons with today's standard of tuning 300+ is no problem on an onopened 25. I dunno wether I want to push it over 300 though, if it was forged then the sky would be limit, hence why I was thinking of building it. And Security- don't sell the car mate I need another club member to have the same rear bar as I'm planning on getting.............................. I mentioned it before and had no bites so I'll say again, East Bear front bar and side skirts, Veilside rear bar. Am I crazy?????????????????
  8. Yeah Chubbs I do miss the HZ, a big angry tank of thing it was. I'll always be a bogan at heart! Well I think I've made a decision.......GR33DD stays and I'll clean it up. I ordered a GTR brake upgrade kit from UAS and was talking to TO4GTR and he reckons the same as most of you guys are saying keep the 25 unopened and get the turbo side of things sorted. He suggested the 3076 ex gate 6boost mani with twin scroll setup .82 rear. He said the power delivery with the proper setup will be very linear and I "should" be able to have full boost at 3500 but it will start to come on at around 2500 and it willnot feel laggy. I've also a trader on here to get a price for a 2835pro s kit and I'll see which one will work out the better option. I'll get a plazmaman plenum as well more for the ease of servicing rather than the tiny bit of extra power it would give me. If you guys have any other suggestions regarding turbo choice I'm open to opinions. Thank for all the help guys. Looks like a build thread is comming
  9. Been there done that.....well without the supercharger Zebra. My last car before the skyline was a built stroked 350 chev with a NASCAR spec 010 4 bolt block 500hp in a HZ statesman, WHAT A CAR! Went like nothing else in a straight line........................when you wanted to turn or stop that was a very different story!!!!!! I do miss it though, I'll see if I can find a couple of old pics and scan them
  10. I will be taking a drive in some GTR's Matt, Ive has one offer yesterday and I will take him up on it. Funny thing is he has never driven a GTST so it will be something different for both of us. I have driven a bog standard 33gtr a looooong time ago it is was a bit, meh' but it was in town so no real room to wind out a gear or anything. And Steveo I would looooooooove to go for a ride in your car mate, Yavuz and Tyson have told me a little about it, sound pretty epic! I'll bring fresh undies!
  11. Thanks Terry, dunno wether she really is understanding or she just tolerates it so I don't sit around the house sulking....haha Nah all jokes aside ever since we met she knows I love cars and enjoy the "tinkering" as she puts it. So as long as my daughter, my wife and the house come first and they never have to go without because of a silly car part she's cool with it. That's why I kept her!
  12. Just to throw another theory in there, Ina few years the 34gtr will be around 30-40k and I would buy one of them in an instant. 35's will prob be around 70????????? Deprieciation sucks but it's just the way it goes. I paid $34,000 for my S2 in 2000. And back then I was told by a few workshops it was a steel. I would need my head read if I paid that for a 33 nowadays
  13. A very nice NSW member has already been in contact with me and offered me a drive in his 33GTR snd I will take him up on it, I won't name him, Ill let him say something if he choses to but he knows I'm very gratefull for the opportunity. And yeh thanks Chubbs I'll have a chat with Heasmans, I'm out that way in a couple of weeks A very good move mate, I was fortunate enough to buy a house just before I bought my GTST. If I didn't have the house as security this thread would never have been started and I probably wouldn't evenhave a skyline
  14. Nah not a full tracker Ryan, the aim is to build a street rego'd track car that I can still take out for a lazy cruise but unleash the fury when the mood strikes. BTW I am planning on gettingan engineers cert if I have to so ex gate will be ok as long as it's plumbed back. Bubby never goes in it cause it's too load and the mrs rarely goes in it as well. When we do the family thing it's in the famy truckster (read:Pathfinder) much more kiddy friendly. Just out of curiosity what size rear do you run on your '71? I've heard that yours is very responsive as well, you happy with the boost delivery? As I said before I had a '76 twin scroll in mind but im unsure wether TS soaks up THAT much lag??? EDIT: Matty so you reckon ditch the SK/Bilstein setup and go coilovers?
  15. Hey Chubbs, Just when I thought my mind is made up you go and throw a spanner in the works!....hahaha Bloody tough decision this turning out to be, it's the guys like you that when they come for a ride tell me how well it goes that make me think I'll regret getting rid of it lol I think from what's been said here that a GTR may end ip being more trouble than it's worth.........BUUUUUUT to keep it as is or rebuild, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm??????
  16. Hey Ryan the 2835 is pretty much a 3071 yeh? I am thinking TS 3076 but I am worried about the lag and don't won't to choke it up with a .63 just to keep the response, I'm hoping that with TS I will get close to 3071 response????? If I'm to keep the 25 (which I'm starting to think is the go) I'll have more to spend for things like a 6boost mani and ex gate. If I was to build up the 25 would you suggest going down the 26 crank/rods etc path or is that overkill??
  17. Will do mate, good luck with the sale. Nice ride
  18. Besides having 4 stud wheels and a NA engine what are the other differences to the turbo models? Same gearbox as the gtst or gtr? It might work but I reckon it would cost probably about the same to get it up to a gtr's standards wouldn't it? Do the gts4's have the pumped guards?
  19. I'll see what I can do 2.0, I've told him I want the same colour again as it's easier and it's a bit uncommon but he wants to add a bit of tint or gloss or something to make it stand out a bit more. I just nodded and smiled as he's the expert. He is doing me a bit of a favour and it will be on his terms when he does it but next time i see him I'll have a chat for you
  20. Thanks for the offer Sam, nice ride BTW I just had a look. To be honest mate it would not be what I would go for. I'd be looking firstly at after Xmas, secondly I'd be looking for a series 3 and thirdly something stock or close to it. It is a nice car though mate, you modify it yourself?
  21. Good point Cass, If I mention Veilside rear bar will this thread be closed??????????? ...........waits for the flaming.................
  22. Matty, Just jokes mate it's all good, saw you on here last night and couldn't resist. You know I like to stir sh1t Turismo, I am starting to think along the lines: get the 3076 and the mani, plazmaman. Respray and new body kit. Then if and when it pops build the 30 as I'll have everthing ready re the top end to bolt straight onto the 30 block. The votes are getting closer.....seems that the keeping of the gtst idea is gaining some ground. Keep the opinions coming people. Has any body here go a twin scroll setup? Is the sooner spoolup worth the extra cost and hassle? That's one of the reasons I ma looking towards the 30 build as I don't like unresonable lag so the off boost torque will be nice
  23. That is one other option steveo, built 25 twin scroll 3076, 6boost mani, niiiice
