Is The Mining Boom Making You Fly To Remote Places?
bubba replied to NISZILA's topic in WA Wasteland
I get to sit in an airconditioned office in the CBD Even if I had to go to site, I'd get to sit in an airconditioned office -
I've found that a thumbsup in response to someone flipping you off tends to aggravate the situation

My 2c.. Give it a go, if you have knowledgable help and the resources My mechanic mate and I performed a twincam 30 conversion on my 32 in a weekend.. had a few teething problems but I did drive it home 3am Monday morning running rich as hell on the stock ecu I got a prepped block, forgies and head off my mate and threw stock crank and rods in there and swapped everything off the RB20.. should have had the crank ground to begin with but you get that had to pull the engine out a month later and whack a new crank in it (only cost ~$300 for a new crank, machining and a set of bearings). Now, Phase II: Birth of the GT35R is approaching

flake: yeah I live in Ashfield what colour is your 32? I've noticed a few live round here.. keets: as long as she didn't puke inside the car it's all good nath: gotta love the wackos.. I hear you had a good night out last night too As for the gin, we were in Northbridge a while back when a dirty young gin got out of her car and tried to have a go through the open window with a boxcutter.. mate driving made sure it was clear and bailed the redlight.. don't need to get involved in that shit *smirk* (Some people just can't accept constructive criticism regarding their driving abilities!)

It's when they try to run you off the highway at 100kmh that I get really upset.. If some guy wants to punch on at a set lights, so be it.. as long as it's not a gin with a boxcutter (long story..). Trying to swerve me off the highway with my Mrs in the car, clearly you want to kill us.. to that I take serious offence. I've been sitting behind two ragers swerving at each other down Tonkin Hwy once, I wisely slowed down and sat ~0.5km back from them and so did everyone else. Funny one though.. couple of mates were driving down the highway and saw a roadrage incident happening, the rager pulled up at a set of lights, popped the boot, walked to the back, pointed in the boot and yelled at the ragee "YOU'RE GOIN' IN HERE C*NT"

I had some c0<khead in a new range rover try to run me off the highway last weekend after I beeped at him when HE cut ME off! He let me get up next to him, hurled some abuse and swerved at my car twice.. inches off my wing mirrior! Mrs was freaked, I was pissed, dropped it back to 3rd and bailed on him then slowed down to let the mrs get his plate. Got home, rang police, reported the fkhead. I do believe roadrage falls under hoon laws.. lets hope they take his rangerover!

What's worse? not being able to shut your bonnet completely, or no bonnet at all? *smirk*

Hyperdrive remapped my ECU to run the RB30 with z32 afm and 550cc injectors. When I get the GT35R on I'll be taking it back for another remap *feels like I've said this a gazillion times before*

When I got the yellow sticker one of the items was no front grill.. If I can't not have a front grill I don't think they're going to let you get away with no bumper!

Because I'm changing ratios, it's easier to leave the pinion in the housing and just have someone swap the carriers. Also means I don't have to leave my car anywhere and can do the housing swap myself. Picked the diff up last night, I now have a 3.9:1 2way that I need to install

Is it for an RB20? (your avatar shows a 33 )
-
Yeah I did mate, only problem is I have a 25DE head out of an R32.. same stud pattern as RB20. A 25DET plenum won't bolt up It seems there are very limited solutions for RB20 style.. going to design my own in conjuction with another forum user and a couple of the mechanical engineers here at work. Afterall, that is what I do for a living.. (although I'm working in materials handling/mining & resources now as opposed to automotive R&D). If I can come up with something that the engineers deem worthwhile, it should be able to be fabricated for half what a plazmaman plenum would cost and be a whole item instead of just the top half. Definately still open to ideas though, proven real world experiences is where it's all at.. I'd rather use something that is proven than blow my engine up trying to develop my own
-
Interested in how your plugs look too.. I was leaning away from modifying the stock plenum as it really isn't designed to flow from one end. Might have to design my own O_o

Nismo Underbody Bracing
bubba replied to Kaido_RR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Where exactly are they meant to bolt to? do they do R32 versions? -
Yeah I'm not doing it for response reasons etc, it is purely a piping issue (twincam 30 in a 32 and putting a high mount 35r on) and having a nice flowing plenum will enable better gains in the future when I wind the boost right up I won't be able to fit the high mount with my current piping arrangement and doing something like the 120deg inlet pipe is out of the question (already rubbing slightly on the timing belt cover so increased height there is a no-no). A forward facing plenum would cure ALL of my pipework rubbing issues (it's even rubbing on the manifold slightly) and allow me room to high mount the 35R. A side benefit would be the reduced pipework and extra breathing capacity when I decide I want to push 400rwkw+ However, I am very sceptical of the limited ebay items and while the plazmaman item seems to be a proven design, the $1k price tag would be eating into the budget somewhere

OK, before anyone asks, YES I have searched but all I can find about this is that when people ask this question they get flooded with replies of WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT? and THE STOCK SETUP IS GOOD FOR xxxRWKW oh and RB20 WILL LOSE POWER WITH FORWARD FACING PLENUM. None of that please. All I am after is some examples and experiences with the various (limited) RB20 forward facing plenums out there and any solutions to the lack of options.. The reason I am after an RB20 forward facing plenum is due to the fact I have an RB25DE head on my 30.. SO, examples, experiences and opinions (opinions on particular RB20 forward facing plenums, not opinions on whether a 20 will lose power with one or not!).

Whats The Difference Between R32-r33 Turbos?
bubba replied to unarmed_skyline's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The only difference should be a NYLON compressor wheel instead of steel, both should still have ceramic turbine wheels. AFAIK they aren't physically larger? -

Good thing I'm keeping the stockers then, cheers URAS and Cubes -
Dual Mass Flywheel
bubba replied to DEVO R33GTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I think it's commonly known as a screwdriver -
Both wheels will spin.. if it's LSD they will spin the same way, open centre the other wheel should turn in the opposite direction.

Oh I'm very interested too! Dropped the diff bits off yesterday arvo, can't wait for some 2way action! -
You want a job on mah trawler dan? Sorry, I was being anti-social.. if you were hanging out with Brad you may have seen me come get a map Chi.. I was more thinking he should cater for your tastes if you like boys in britches.. more power to ya g/f

Did you make him wear one of her skirts? My mrs can't navigate well enough to come on a cruise.. so I brought my mechanic instead.. just incase 32vpsecII.. it's quick for a taxi be interesting to see it with a proper tune! Ugh I need my GT35R on already.. getting chopped by S14's is demeaning

6-bolt Driveshafts Into 32 Gtst
bubba replied to bubba's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I'll just stick with my standard axles then. Dropping the diff off tonight.. might have it ready to install on the weekend We did some crude measurements and it really didn't look like it's going to fit.. I was originally going to get a nice tubular low mount manifold but now going to go with an china high mount (got a few mates over here that have had good experiences with particular ones). 400rwkw?!? I don't want that much yet will retain the stock throttle body for now along with the NA cams and cap the power around 400rwhp (still running stock rods..). That should be PLENTY for quite a while, the rest of the setup will be able to pump more but before I go nuts I'll pull the engine out, put a decent set of rods in there and have everything balanced.. then I'll see if she can push 400rwkw Any idea how much boost it will need to make 400rwhp? -

bubba replied to bubba's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah it's out of an S13, the 3x2 bolt pattern. So the axles aren't any bigger? looked bigger but I haven't measured and didn't have them side by side with my stock items. The halfshaft flange bits are a straight swap yeah? Cheers Cubes P.S. measured the GT35R up and it isn't going to fit low mount so I've decided to bite the bullet and go high mount and forward facing plenum
