Differences Between Spring Types/rates?
-Jimmy- replied to hardsteppa's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I've got 10/8 in my 32 and honestly it doesn't bother me one bit driving on the road. With the damping on the softest setting it's quite pleasant to drive, if I turn it all the way up I can notice a big difference on comfort. -
So who's definitely in for the cruise?

R32 With Rb25De
-Jimmy- replied to team carefactor's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Looking good, looking at doing similar mods to my car eventually. XRATED he said it's for sale so he's probably keeping it NA until it says I would assume haha. Is the car in NSW or QLD? How much are you looking at getting for it? -
My defect is also cleared.

Fuuuck dude that's insane, LOVE IT. Good work, doing it right.

Glad to see that you got them to fit eventually. Got my defect cleared and this is how she sits as of today.

R32 Leaking Gearbox Oil
-Jimmy- replied to -Jimmy-'s topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sealed it up on the outside and inside, no more leaking now. It's just a temporary fix for now but hope to get it fixed properly eventually. -
I had a similar situation with my NSW rego'd car in WA over the past few weeks. I rang the people from Transport WA and they said nothing was showing up on their system. I rang the RTA in NSW and they knew nothing about it either. I rang back Transport WA and then they said it sometimes takes up to 3 weeks for it to show up in the system? I was kinda puzzled by that, they should enter it straight away. Basically what they told me was if I don't get the defect cleared within the defect clearance date, they will send the defect notice over the the RTA and they will deal with it from there (i.e cancel rego or whatever they do). I'm still not sure if any of this was true but I just coughed up and paid for the inspection fees and got it cleared here in WA. The cop told me that no matter what state the rego is in, the car has to comply with their state's roadworthy laws if it's going to be driven in that state. Sorry I don't think any of that info is going to help you but what I'm trying to say is that Australia has f**ked up laws and ways of dealing with this shit. In your case I'd probably just leave it until you get back to Vic and wait to hear from anyone about it.

Headlights are fine but you'll need the indicators as Chris said.

R32 Leaking Gearbox Oil
-Jimmy- replied to -Jimmy-'s topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
K so I took the tailshaft out today and had a bit of a look. Took a pic just to show you the welch plug. I filled the yoke with water to the top and put my hand over the top to put some pressure down on the water and surely enough it started leaking water out of the welch plug. So what I'm going to do is now seal it and hope it's a good enough temporary fix so I can pass the inspection. -
Damn I had to put my spare cat on to clear defect. Still hasn't cleared yet. When do you need it by? If I get my car passed this week I can lend it. Although is it for your GT-R? Mine came off an R32 RB25DE...

R32 Leaking Gearbox Oil
-Jimmy- replied to -Jimmy-'s topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Cheers mate, yeah I thought it was a bit odd, I haven't seen it happen on any factory nissan parts but being a custom tailshaft might have something to do with it and I can't think of any other place where it would be leaking. I'll give that a try after the easter period when I can get out to the shops again. -
R32 Leaking Gearbox Oil
-Jimmy- replied to -Jimmy-'s topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
This thread I came across seems to be a similar problem to what I have. http://www.gmh-torana.com.au/forums/topic/36631-oil-leak-in-tail-shaft/ I had the tailshaft custom made (1 piece) by someone just like this guy. It may be the Welch plug that needs replacing? The thing is, I had it looked at by a gearbox place and they said it will be the welch plug, so I took it back to the place where I got the 1pc tailshaft made up and they said it'd be the rear seal, however I replaced that and it still leaks. It makes sense now because now I remember it started leaking around that time I had the tailshaft done... I might drop the tailshaft out and just seal it up temporarily, I really need this fixed for the pits inspection. -

Ok so it's definitely not coming from that part of the gearbox. I seem to think it's coming from the tailshaft yoke area now... -

This actually makes a lot of sense! I'll try this. -
Hey guys, I just got defected and it won't pass the inspection unless I have got rid of the gearbox leak. There was a shit load of oil under the car and I've already replaced the rear seal behind the tailshaft and the shifter seal too. I have cable tied both ends of the shifter seal to seal it even better. I cleaned up all of the oil and it still appears to be coming from the shifter area. I took it for a 15min drive after cleaning everything and let it cool down, then checked it after a few hours and there was about 4-5 big drops of oil ready to fall from the chassis. What do you guys suggest I do? Should I just fork out and take it to a gearbox specialist or does anyone have any other suggestions? It's really frustrating me. I have read it may tend to leak if it's a bit full but I haven't replaced it for months and it's been leaking a while, I doubt it would be still overfull if it was previously. Thanks

Best Seat Options For R32 - Opinions
-Jimmy- replied to eightsixboy's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
I don't find my Recaro SR3 'buckety' enough to hold me in on the track personally (and the Just Jap copies are copies of the SR3). They probably hold you in as much as a GTR seat, maybe a little more but not much. -

How about getting a GTR seat (or pair) and using a harness for the track? Edit: Just read what someone said about having a prang. What about only using the harness for the track? I know the risk still occurs though but it's unlikely you'll have a heavy collision at the track... -
I need a set of R32/R33/S14 stock rims with legal tread in the next couple of weeks guys... much help appreciated.

Hey guys, Up for sale I have a 'Fitcore' Drivers Side Seat rail to suit A31/R32/R33/NA R34. This seat will definitely fit on RECARO reclining seats and I am told it will fit BRIDE as well. I had it in my R32 and it worked perfectly. I can post at your expense. I am after $120 for it however I am negotiable to some extent... I'm located in Inglewood, WA. Please contact me either by replying in this thread, via PM or send me a msg: 0448 058 119. Thanks
