  1. A R32 GTR with T28 turbo's can do 11's.. well as long as everything else is there to support them. Clutch and a FPR. Really need more fuel too. One of our previous GTR's runs constant high 11's with a near stock motor on T28's. No way a GTS-T or 180sx would come close without a lot of mods..
  2. Sould have been able to find a loose intercooler pipe.. One person sticks head in the engine bay while someone with the handbrake on put the car under load to bring on boost. Then you can hear exactly where all the air is getting out I have had that problem, and it's amazing the difference with no leak.. as you said, it scares you when you hit boost for the first time.

  4. Never heard it make any difference to the sound by going oversize? How much oversize..?
  5. GTiR can get into the 12's fairly easy.. thats if the gearbox will last. There was one here built buy HKS doing mid 11's, aftermarket box. I think the fastest GTiR's have only done 10's?
  6. I never noticed any trouble with an auto ecu in a manual.. and I have converted dozens.
  7. The oversized pistons shouldn't really make a difference. They are normally installed when the engine has to be bored due to being damaged, wouldn't call it an upgrade. I am guessing they are Stock oversized?
  8. PowerFC uses AFM's, D-Jetro dosn't.
  9. Better wear a mask next time...
  10. Sprayed my own engine bay with 2k, I didn't use any breathing apparatus.. Used a normal gun too. Spat out a bit of paint for a while.. but i'm still alive. I think it looks pretty good for a home garage job. I would use a booth and prep a lot more for the outside of the car..
  11. My engine builder said the rings bed in almost straight away.. and that as long as you don't screw the car for the first while, and use the right run in oil, it's fail proof He said most engine shops say 1000k or more, as by the time you get to that many k's you have forgotten about blaming them for anything. lol
  12. Well thats the way I have always done it.. on all my Skylines, and it's normally 1 or 2 that go, and you can normally find it on idle and pinpoint it. I have never had to replace the whole lot on any Skylines in the past 5 Years or so.. I would like a nice set of spitfire coils.. but I can see better things to spend the money on.
  13. No worry there, I have engineers do my welding etc
  14. If it's breaking down at idle. Just take a plug of each coil until it makes no difference. E.G, it will be running on 5 cylinders. When you pull the wrong plug it will run on 4, pull the faulty one, it will run on 5 still.
  15. Hell no.. much easier to modify where it bolts to the sump. Simply redrill or cut and weld a new plate on.
  16. Engine builders fault... they are suppose to check for clearance with the squirters. I have seen it happen before, but never when a good shop has installed the pistons.
  17. Is there a number or something on them to tell the difference?
  18. Cheers mate. Engine bay is looking good now anyway.. How much of an issue does having the driveline alignment off matter?, as long as the universal in the driveshaft is not inline it should be fine. Just have to space the gearbox crossmember, and probably make the gearstick longer. Sounds easy..
  19. Well yeah.. but we install trust sump extensions onto quite a few GTR's.. which drops the sump a lot!! and never had one rip off yet.. I was thinking more about the problems with the gearbox/driveshaft with having the engine 30-50mm lower..
  20. See if the engine was forward a little more, it could be dropped 50mm or so! I just wonder what other problems this may cause..
  21. Oh i'm more worried about the slope at the back. I think I may move the engine forward a little then down a whole lot. Just have to put a kink in the gearstick
  22. A Slope at the front or back? I don't have a swaybar issue due to using a cefiro bar.. and getting a custom one made
  23. Thought this might help some of you. Shows the clearance of RB30 sump to RB crossmember.
  24. Ok here are the pic of an RB cross member bolted to an RB30 bottom end You can see the clearance.
  25. Are you sure the ignitor is actually different on the GTR..? I think you will find they are the same.
