  1. i had that for a day or 2, turned out to be my radiator fan hitting the intercooler piping
  2. Thanks mate but i'm looking for a std GTR bov I don't think it will fit with the GTR bonnet
  3. Hey guys, i just got a GTR bonnet so i need the latch to fit it And the bov speaks for itself. Preferably in Sydney so i can pick it up Pm, call or sms me 0412741778 Cheers, Daniel
  4. You can do an ecu diagnostic for the afm, but that won't necessarily show that the afm is dead coz it might be intermittently working. Do a search for 'ecu diagnostic' Stick your head in the boot and get someone to switch the car on reds and see if you can hear the pump buzz. Otherwise take it out and put some power to it and see if it works
  5. Probably afm(s) dying coz it happened to me, same symptoms. Only difference being i could still start the car every time, it just wouldn't idle for longer then 30sec Could possibly be fuel pump too like you said, that might be a reason you saw the cat light flashing. Coz the fuel pump was dying making the motor run lean and making the exhaust gasses hotter
  6. Being biased towards GCG turbo's since i run one myself i would rather have them rebuild it, you've driven my car so you know how well it runs. But since i know how much they are to rebuild and the fact that you shouldn't have to pay for it, it looks like your best bet is what others have said and get the warranty repair and have GCG check it out properly. Sucks that you have 2 'reputable' turbo companies with different diagnosis' though....
  7. with the low compression it would be worse then driving a charade
  8. well that would most probably be your problem then ive since replaced mine with a z32 afm
  9. Sounds more like a problem with the air flow meter Mine did the same thing on the way to get petrol one night. started up again fine and managed to make it home. The next day it started and died after a min or so. Borrowed a replacement and it ran fine. a dying AFM could cause the misfire too if its not reading right. Your one could just have a loose connection, theres a DIY thread to fix them. In my case it wasnt repairable. or it could just need a good clean. Check your spark plugs and your intercooler piping for any leaks too
  10. Get another wrecker rb20det in it and if you blow that just buy another one they're cheap anyway
  11. well i tested another cas today to no avail tried the ignitor pack too but it seems the rb25 ones aren't compatible, so i still have to hunt one down. Going to get a compression test done this week hopefully and see how it goes
  12. Yeh in nsw ANY performance/engine modification is prohibited on your P's And that includes a pod filter
  13. ive tried every gap with no avail. im not so worried about it coz like you said, it doesnt cause any problems when driving It's just annoying coz i cant figure out what it is. I'll get to the bottom of this eventually
  14. I've got set of jjr coils in my car running 16psi My std coils used to misfire a little bit with a 0.65mm gap Opened the gap back to 0.8 with the new ones and no more misfire Picked up a little off boost power too, from the seat of the pants dyno And with a 1 year warranty they're not bad for the price
  15. Well i've opened up the gap to 0.8mm Still no good:( But at least it doesn't miss on boost like it used to
  16. Well i seem to be getting told its a problem with the CAS Im trying to get another and see if it fixes the idle problem Trying a different ignitor pack today so we'll see how that goes Then its a comp+leakdown test+dyno
  17. Ok so i can rule out the TPS. As for coilpacks theyre all brand new and the plugs are in nice and tight. In my head if the coil plugs were loose or the loom was shot then wouldn't it be intermittently missing everywhere, and dropping a cylinder? I don't think its dropping a cylinder coz it doesnt sound that bad, and theres no smoke spewing out from the extra fuel My miss is constant and only at idle my plugs are at a .65mm gap at the moment. thats what i was running with the old coils for about 6 months before this started happening now that ive got the new coils i havent been bothered to open the gap up but i'll give it a go tomorrow
  18. Seems like everyones leaning towards the same thing. But why? Anyone have a spare cas to lend me?
  19. mine used to idle baby smooth too with a 0.65mm gap but now its lumpy as definately not just a "slight" pop sorry to hijack the thread but maybe you guys can shed some light on my problem too http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t1...32#entry3377332
  20. The clicking from the injectors means that theyre working properly ie: opening and closing They were probably a bit clogged before but now that you've cleaned them they're good again. Well thats as far as i know anyway coz my gtr injectors are pretty loud
  21. seems like we have the same problem and i think its happened after the same circumstances mines missing at idle too except it never missfired on boost i just got a new set of coils and that didnt help im stumped.
