The thing needs a rebuild and someone is worried about a $50 part.... it never ceases to amaze me. Great price for a late model GTR in anyones language, rebuilds are costly but even factoring that in its a bargain! Best of luck with it!

Whilst I'm no drag racer, I have absolutely no doubt that semis will hook up better than your regular road tyres. My experiences on both (Bridgestones verus Azeni RT215 255/40/17) is that the car is all over the road on the bridgestones, and much more composed on the semis. Only problem is you don't get an awful lot of KM out of them

My first motor did that at the drags, red light came on at the top of 3rd, I stopped the motor. Oil pump was still shot, bearings were close to being spun. Time for an expensive rebuild.

Although your motor basically defines over capitalisation, I honestly think you are pushing the defenition by putting it in a R31. Its a dish best served cold with budget modifications. I'd really look at other applications for that motor.

You make it sound like I'm about to die Chris I'll have to get organised for SAUVIC then... despite the fact I won't have a Skyline (at least in VIC)... first day down will be 17th of July so I'm good to go anytime after that !

Thanks for the replies guys.... good to hear that a few of you have made the transition! Certainly looking forward to it, its a different atmoshpere in Melb... if not only for the weather... At this stage not sure how permanent the move will be, I'd say will be around 12 - 15 month so no long term plans yet. Need to put in some serious hours (no doubt at a pub) getting my head around the game of AFL (Don't follow it too closely in Syd), at the moment more so NRL / Rugby! Will have to get on board with the next drinks outing down there and cross some of those places off the been there done that list.... based on Sunday night it was fairly packed... world cup effect I guess?!

Hi guys, I'll be re-locating to Melbourne within a matter of 3-4 weeks now, just spent the last weekend down there getting everything with work and accomodation sorted. Definately seems like a decent place to spend some time, a bit more polished than Sydney.... Without having spent much time down here (the only time has been work focused, have been to the casino though!) what are the must do's down here? What to see / visit / keep busy with ? Where are the best bars / clubs / places to avoid ? I hear there are alot of track days, will certainly keep tabs on them to come out and take a look (Won't be bringing the GTR down unfortunately!) PS - How does South Melbourne rate as a suburb? I've sorted some accomodation out for at least a while down there.... Cheers Richard
