  1. I couldn't imagine you'd lose over 40% from engine to wheels, 1050hp at the engine is far too high an assumption I'd suggest.
  2. Enormous turbo, or two I.e. 2 x ~GT35s Complete engine build; decent forged pistons/rods/HG etc. Full headjob port, valves etc, high lift camshafts springs etc. Multiple fuel pumps/surge feed system, with suitable fuel rail(s) Aftermarket gearbox/gearset, diffs, etc. Race fuel might help.
  3. I've been looking around that pricepoint lately at a few things, Boxster S was the first thing on the list. Becomes dangerous as you go from looking at a 986 to a 987, non S to S, and then the budget blows out, then its not too much more for a 996 911... and the whole process falls over. Don't buy an old 911 unless you are into astronomical maintenance costs. And they are not quite so good to punt around thesedays when you look at the alternatives in terms of what you get for your dollar to drive on the road. Some interesting options thrown around in this thread otherwise!
  4. The VE will win, and rightly so. VN commodore did win in 88, but rewind to back then if you are old enough and think about the market/car in that scenario. Then look at the sales in that year of the car versus anything else and tell me I'm wrong
  5. I did the move down from Sydney; sold my mildly modified GTR rather than face any potential problems bringing it down here. Have certainly noticed driving around that there is nowhere near the amount of imports on the road as in Sydney. As to if this is because of the areas I have been around or that the reputation as the police state rings true I can't determine. Whats the worst that they will do down here? Either way, good luck with it all. There are alot of racetracks and alot of days on!
  6. 220km/h = 138mph would be quick? Have heard/seen a Gen 3 commodore do the same. Don't recall the cause of the problem.
  7. Rod, Sold mine some months ago when I moved down to Melb. Was difficult, but as long as you can justify to yourself why you've sold it then you can live with it Though more difficult when the new owner destroyed it Markk: Congrats, good buying!
  8. Sounds like someone knew what they were looking for, hope you get it back
  9. Went out today for a look, some good racing
  10. Have seen graphs like that when the fuel pump ran out of voltage (intank 044 without direct power feed from battery)
  11. 600rwhp no problem
  12. Dosen't sound quite right, there are alot of scams. You'd want to see proof of compliance - previous engineers reports, registration details, prior import approval, all shipping paperwork etc to ensure its genuine. The only way you could do it ecomically is if the car was dirt cheap - and I mean DIRT cheap, but in that case buyer beware.
  13. The cars looked great out there guys, good work on the quick times
  14. How'd the afternoon sessions go for those who went?? Had to duck off when mates XR managed to absolutely destroy the clutch
  15. Haha, yeah I find it pretty ironic
  16. V6? V8? 5L Holden Motor? LS1? ECU, fuel supply, manifold(s), turbos, piping, exhausts.......
  17. 044 intank..... I bought years ago few hundred ea
  18. (B)ig (F)uck (O)ff (T)urbo, also use FOT
  19. 700HP-GTR33 I certainly hope you're kidding around because thats a ridiculous suggestion that unless they have 2 turbos, a GTR is not a GTR!! Have a look next track day and see how (especially a certain) big single GTRs go. The days of useless BFOTs has passed, there is absolutely no reason a single can't do what twins do. Back on topic T78 is way too BFOT, T04Z is awesome in comparison, 500rwhp @ 19psi with delivery by 4500rpm not being strictly on/off either, with the .81 rear. I'd track back towards something like a GT3037, GT3040 for the lower power level.
  20. Novel idea going a SST, still, I wouldn't have it any other way than FOT Let us know how you go
  21. I felt it! Had just gone to bed ~10.30pm and felt a rumble/noise and wondered what it could be (quiet old south melbourne) Figured it could be an earthquake - sure enough heard today it was a 2.5L earthquake...
  22. From what I know its just a faulty batch as supplied from one of their parts contractors.
  23. Don't sell yourself short Andy, clean R33 I don't know why you haven't had any bites yet, especially being in white!
  24. What state are you in? How long do you intend on keeping the car? If its a short peroid of time, get a second hand RB26 in and sell the car. If not, no doubt could recommend some good places to get a reliable rebuild done at a reasonable price.
