  1. P-Platers shouldn't be driving turbos? Either way, lucky you got out of that one; $240-ish and 3 points, I believe.
  2. maybe i'm just retarded then didn't do anything sat night anyway, the missus crashed out early but that's ok
  3. But it's hiiiiiistory I'll be making a Flickr soon I guess; not so happy about having to make a Yahoo ID to do it but oh well. Then next weekend hopefully get some good shots at a party I'm going to.
  4. CS4 obtained through work :3 So who wants to win lotto? http://cgi.ebay.com/Hasselblad-MKWE-Kit-br...A-/370426409137
  5. that would explain it then
  6. what the hell you were in wgong and didnt tell me wtf
  7. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sidebyside.asp then choose them both. i picked up the 550d yesterday... VERY happy.
  8. .....? meh. not worried. Everyone's got one cause they're cheap(ish) powar, I've got one cause I fell in love with it the moment I saw it.
  9. Got the 550D today problem is that CS3 for Mac doesn't recognise the newer CR2 files, wtf? I've got the latest RAW plugin, but nooo. Have to grab CS4 from work then. Got a damn good price, considering it was Harvey Norman and all: 550D and the 18-55mm lens, 50mm 1.8 lens, 4 years warranty for cam and lenses, 2 Hoya UV filters (pitch 0.75) (one for each lens), a Hoya CPL filter, extra battery, 16Gb Sandisk Extreme, Inca tripod, and a Kata bag for 1863... very happy. Got home late so I've only got a few crappy shots, took one of my doggie though; shooting in full auto at the mo until I get a bit of time to play in the daytime with it. Nothing special, just my gorgeous doggy who's a bit drugged up cause we had to take him to the vet to get most of one of his nails cut off; he'd broken it and it was hanging No photoshop (grumble, stupid CS3 and no CR2), just straight from cam (and resized).
  10. i got a 33 cause i like the look better personally although the 34gtr ftw
  11. Hah, everywhere is ages away for me I'm 20 mins south of Wollongong.
  12. Awesome, would be good to catch up with you guys for tips and so you can tell me what I'm doing wrong; really really hoping to pick the 550D up tomorrow! For now (in terms of lenses) just going to get the lens kit ones (18-55 + 55-250) and the 50mm 1.8.
  13. I'd like to get in on that at some stage but I'll wait until I can actually do some half-decent stuff first
  14. Fair call; if that's the only factor then it is a bit meh. But when it comes down to a few places offer similar lifestyles, similar jobs, pay, living conditions etc, and then there's tracks closer, it becomes a bit of a +5 to that idea. Totally agree though, other things come first
  15. needs to be wide for those of us with boats
  16. Good point; I might work out a distance and focus point for my car, and work on shots for it. Kind of a control, huh? Spose; set up a tripod somewhere, aim at one particular part of the car, take shots with different settings/lenses and write down the settings for each shot so i can refer back to it.
  17. i gotta do that in december i went 6 months... might do another 6 then switch to 12 again.
  18. I read this about 4 times before I got this: Narrow Aperture = wide DOF = high f number Wide Aperture = narrow DOF = low f number .... CONFUSING (at first)
  19. Yeah, I read the links above but I don't think it's sunk in properly yet Still very confusing at the moment, I guess it will be until I play around with it and learn for myself... Hoping to pick it up on Saturday.
  20. oops, found it. hurr. a low "f" value means shallow depth of field though right? so 1.8 is good for closeup stuff, f5 is further away...?
  21. thanks man, i'm still learning what all these filters are and what f1.8 and all that means any links to that lens?
  22. oh i've been looking round... http://www.becextech.com.au/catalog/produc...products_id=333 these guys are in victoria and it doesn't seem like they're imported stock... i might have to ring them and make sure it's not the Kiss or T2i or whatever. ...um, on d-d, all the prices for the 550 have crosses through them? oh wait hurr, NoScript, allow remoteprice.com.. $1339 is pretty nice
  23. from the RTA: so basically: if it's for work, work has to sign it if your parent's don't have a car that's not a restricted one, stiff shit (didn't know that, the moar you know by reading guise) if you live in the country and you only have a turbodiesel 4by, then it's ok hmmmm, tbh i can't really think of "exceptional circumstance", because i doubt the rta would be cool enough to go along with "i'm a sex addict and the skyline gets all the wimmin moist"
  24. I think they'd look into how long the ABN has been operating. If you've got an established business and it's to do with imports you might get away with it; if you've had an ABN for 2 weeks, they'll probably go "yeah, ok, no". Basically the only way you'll get an exemption is if you TRULY need it. If you don't, just drive an N/A, wait your time, save your cash, and the day you get your full licence, go looking for a nice turbo.
  25. Yep, pretty serious now. Thinking I'll try and get it all through a mate who's a manager at a Harvey Norman; get the lenses I want, bag, etc. Get it all in one bunch. I saw that Canon have a bunch of tutorials on what things mean too, so I'm downloading them like crazy.
