  3. The humble old RB30 is a very durable device. Just look at how many are still driving around on the roads.. What sort of punnishment are you thinking that you are going to apply to your engine? In standard form, with standard oil pump, they are prone to some oil issues at hi revs only. But from what I have found, the problem lies totally in the oil pump itself. The pump does not like and cannot handle prolonged hi revs. We have had cracked pump housings and such, but never had any oil issues anywhere else with the stock RB30 configuration. Unless your building a monster engine to do insane revs, it seems to as if your trying to fix an issue that does not yet exist for this engine. in this part of the forum, look up 'RIPS', he has done some very crazy things with the RB30. If anybody has struck such issues, it would be him! and he would know how to fix them!

  8. So, looking for people who are interested in doing a tricks and spins skid pan day. Looking at covering things like the 360 degree spins, and 180 flicks and handbrake parks and other crazy stuff. This skid pan day will have some complexity to some of the moves. Skidding will definatly be on the agenda.   9. I lost proof of cleaning and testing.. But I can get it if you are genuine. I had them done at my local dyno shop, I lost the receipt. I am sure I can get a copy or something to prove it. Cleaning cost me some where near $180 by memory. (they have been in a snaplock bag for about 4 months or so..) As for the SR Question.. SR20 have side feed just like Skylines and 300ZX. Only the manual S15 got the 440~480cc injectors in the side feed form.. I am open to REAL offers, not lowballers. I will pay freight anywhere in the country, if I get a fair price. $540 including freight. Not too worried if I dont sell them.
  10. I'm in the same boat! I have been considering stock RB25DE cams, but.. have no real clues to see if it will help me gain where I want it to gain. My current plan is to build the engine and get it tuned.. Then go from there. But that is not very helpful, and is a pain in the butt if it doesn't do what I'm wanting it to do!
  11. In the old days of T04B's, to hi-flow them, the turbines were machined back. This ranged from trimming the tips to machining the whole wheel back. In a modern turbo, the clearance between the wheel and the housing act as a seal to help spin the turbo up early in the rev range. I would think that the 3040 with a turbine that is that big would be a slug. but once it come onto boost, it would have awesome topend power.. I would think that it would actually make boost. but it would come on rather slow at first.. and be kinda spongy. my 2c anyways
  12. RB25DET is 370cc.. these are bigger and fit straight in.
  13. Cleaned and tested SR20 injectors. Set of 6 injectors, new 'O' rings.. All injectors flowed within 2cc of each other. Bolts straight into RB25DET fuel rail.. same injector plugs. Need them gone, I'm going bigger. Will happily post anywhere! $650? Cheers Aaron

  15. interesting... My freind bought his Skyline with a busted RB25 in it. We swapped it and I pulled the old unit apart. It looks the same as your engine.. Our busted engine was a complete stock engine, intercooler was stock, injectors, ecu.. the works. I know that our busted engine was running very high boost with no mapping or anything else to support it. every piston is busted and all the damage in ours looks the same as yours. My point: we all know that the standard ecu pumps WAY too much fuel into the engine at high boost, and the timing is very aggressive. Our engine would have also been suffering from very high intake temps from the standard intercooler. Goodness only knows if the old owner even checked water and oil temps! Apart from all the melting in the top end.. the rings were still complete and unbroken, bearings looked good and all else appeared fine. I think fineline has pinned this one down for you...
  16. Dont snip the end of the plug off! If you do that, you will end up with WAY too much oil in the port and also risk starving the cam buckets the oil they want! I coppied (so to speak) the factory oil system, used same sized oil feed holes. This means that the solinoid works exactly as it did beofre on the RB25! I left the photo's thumb nails on the forum, if you want them really large just click on the foto you want to look at and it will be page sized! This helps with the people who are looking for the finer details..
  17. turbo's hate exhaust back pressure! ANY back pressure is ALL bad. any removal of bad gas flow from any part of the exhaust will make torque and horsepower.. and proabably ecconomy! If your paying somebody to do work for you, and they dont go racing... find somebody else who does go racing! Because they will be 150 000 000 steps ahead of the dude your talking to! the more they know, the more chance that they will often charge more for work done, but that will save you $$$ cos they actually know what they are doing and can advise you on the next logical step forward that suits your needs. You wont be buying parts you dont need and then trying to get rid of them to buy something else that 'might' work. that help you?
  18. the bottom hose is a vent. put it pre-turbo (between air filter and turbo), NOT to the intercooler piping! or you can just leave it. some people just add a short bit of tube to help keep the crud out of it.
