ADR/FIA approved? Or does it have the apropriate approval to be legal in a street driven car?
-
It looks like a really good set up.. but you have much much filing to be had!
-
nope.. If you want a job done properly.. get the right tool.. Theres a tool what has a drill bit.. fits into an en electric drill chuck and in the middle of the drill bit there is a cirlular saw kind of thing that drills a larger round hole.. So the idea is that the drill bit drills the pilot hole.. and you continue pushing down till it reaches the "crown" of the circular saw kind of thing.. I have seen these in 3" You can also find them without the drill bit.. just throw it into th chuck of an electrill and its a large circular disk with a saw blade.. Hope it makes sence.. Just run down to a hardware store.. and explain it to them... you may do a beter job than me Lol.. sorry.. didnt see this post.. but yes.. thats whats you want..

So your saying I dont do as good of a job as a mechanic!?!
-
So really.. "my c**k is bigger than yours.."

FOUR DOOR LUB!!! *puts on flame proof jaket* I can see why there is so many disgruntled people.. but lets face it.. if its shit.. no one will buy it.. This will be AWESEOME competition for cars like the Bently Continental GT and Mercedes Benz E55 AMG.. currently 1st and 2nd fastest 4 doors..

SAFC and tune it urself.. dont know if anyone has realised yet.. but I like doing everything myself.. Like to steer clear of workshops

My Green 33 N/a - Now Rb25det Conversion
GTS4WD replied to H@ME's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
LOL!!!.. GOLDEN NA's arnt quick in a steight line.. But I find through the twisties.. as long as there arnt too many straights.. I can quite comfortable keep up to cars with much higher powers.. just cos its NA.. doesn't mean it cant be fast where it counts.. suspention mods FTW!!! -
Can I just bring a few points to light.. 1) Legality.. in ANY state 22's will shit all over the legal increase or rolling diameter.. even on the tiniest sidewall possible.. 2) Side wall.. the ride will be so unbearibly uncomfortable you wont want to drive your car.. 3) Rolling diameter.. say goodbye to your acceleration.. You will loose heaps of performance due to the increase.. (i somehow dont think your too keen on performance though) 4) Weight/Driveline.. Dont even bother trying to drop clutches or do burnout.. you will bust prop/drive shafts.. screw diffs etc. etc. Bear in mind you will need to get the right offset.. Rolling guards are a must.. You cant go too wide on rim.. just something to think about..

As much as you guys have ragged on them.. Im still goin to be getting 205's on my R32 GTR rims.. and guess what? Ill still be happy with them.. even after reading this thread..

I have diagnosed the problem.. because this engine should fit 32's and 33's they extended the piping so as it has the extra length to fit in a 33. Put it in a 32.. and it hangs too low.. My car isn't amazingly low.. street legal 100mm all round.. but just something to be warey of.. And the grinding of the yolk was a bit of a bitch.. but nothing amazingly difficult.. All in all.. Im quite happy with it though.. its good to feel an engine breathing and farting well..

swap spark plugs with another cylinder.. this will cheak sparkies.. pull the coil out and start it without a spark plug.. if it sparks.. its not the coil packs injectors.. use a multimeter.. get a workshop manual.. and cheak the voltage/amprage cross all these off.. and then double cheak them.. then find 3 other ways to cheak each part.. then find other things that can cause it.. and as a VERY last thing assume a valve.. because valves dont just shit themselfs for no reason.. broken valves are caused from wrong calculations when shaveing blocks/heads.. or extended periods of very very poor timing settings.. see what can cause damage valves and then diagnose those and see if it realy does lead to broken valves.. An easy way is to go down to repco or supercheap and get a compression tester.. it fits where your spark plug goes.. you disconnect the battery and then crank the engine.. and it will regester the max PSI on a guage.. this can determin if there is a leak within the chamber. Do this to all 6 cyl's BOM!.. gosh im good! lol... Im really proud of that! and sorry to complicate things.. but gaskets can also cause a los of preassure that can manifest or appear as though a cylinder has dropped.. keep us updated so we can help

Correct me if im wrong Eug, The term is "volumetric vacume" or "volumetric efficiency" I.e If the pipe is too big.. the exhaust just lingers around and doesn't exit the exhaust piping in the most efficient way. Too big of piping can result in worse performance than stock.. as you found out. If the piping is too small.. the exhaust fumes struggle to fit through the piping and the flow is choked and slowed as there is too much gass exiting the engine and the piping cannot cope.. again.. hindering performance.. With the right size piping.. the exhaust gass will flow evenly.. and create a form of "vacume" where by the gas will almot accelerate in "speed" throughout the length of the exhaust sytem.. Its a simple explination.. but I hope it gets the point accross.. back preassure is when, for eg. you have a turbocharged car without an evacuation system (Blow off valve). So when you take your foot off the accelerator.. the turbo continue to force air into the intake manifold. Because there is no were to go for the air to go.. it will build up.. forcing itself back down the intake, creating back preassure. This preassure will slow the turbine of the turbo down. When you eventually get back on the gas after changing gears.. you will have to wait for the turbo to spool up to its previous point (before the back preassure began to slow the turbine down) to continue making power.. thats the diff.. On the subject of xforce.. I drove my car with only exhaust mani connected.. I think it was quieter than with the xforce cat back I used temporarily.. I was willing to drive my car into a wall just so as to not hear the exhaust after 10 min of driving the thing..

"I" besides.. to convert anything to gtr driveline is a biatch.. theres alot of firewall and floorplan changes that need to be made.. this will weaken the car.. not worth it budyy

Sell and buy. No questions asked. Its the easiest way.

All in all. It's been a bit of a mixed bag. Installation wasn't too easy. I had to grind down the yolks (spelling? - the fatter washer/spacers between the exhaust flange and the washers) so as to accommodate for the welds on the piping as the yolks did not sit flat. I had to do this because it would of bent the studs, possibly snapped them and the headers would not of sealed properly or evenly with the head and gasket. **note** to those who did it themselves.. I hope you guys progressively tightened the nuts and did it in proper order Then I had to weld a flange and a connector pipe from the exhaust manifold to the cat. Simple and Cheap. But now it scrapes everywhere. As a positive, it definately improved the engine flow! The engine is much happier now being at lower RPM and also rev's out MUCH easier.. This being said.. My exhaust note has lost alot growl.. is quiter.. and the rasp has now returned.. Thats my pros and cons.. Im in two minds about the job that coby did..

I was reading a Wheels mag article on the GTR just today.. Apparently the tyre choice made no diff in lap times (so the japanese test driver of the 35 said).. the option is there to reduce road roar.. but that begs why buy softer tyres that are crap in the wet and chew quicker if there isnt a real performance advantage? LOL.. wer't they calling it the V something?.. lol.. meh.. dont I look like a dick right about now?

Anyone know what the R32 GTR bonnet is? I want one
