  1. yeah they are alright for comp engines (i use the race series) but a 100% no-no for streeters to hard and unforgiving ive gone back to kings believe it or not. i was noticing quite a lot of wear on the crank journals after long service periods (high km's) on road cars. Alot of the old V8 guys are seeing the same thing in thier high hp engines. but hey every one has an oppinion and at the end of the day if it works then brand is irrelevant... there are 1000's of ways to skin a cat the last few customer SR20's i pulled down were built using combinations.. clevite mains and nissan bigends... obviously someone found that combo worked for them or thier budget.... oh best mod on one was that they put 2 of the second rings in upside down.... worked great ...NOT
  2. ^^^ yeah the hybrid turbos are crap used a few one originaly on cats sr20 then another on a r34 gtt... laggy and very doughy and needed a fair bit of boost to make power.
  3. no on the GTS just run them in the plenum, works fine.
  4. ^^ which are made by Mahle yes? i havent played with their (ACL) gear since hyper craptastics...
  5. garanteed you have pinched an oring and filled your cylinders with fuel....hello hydraulic lock
  6. you run into serious air distribution issues if you weld the throttle body to the front of a std manifold... we did the excersice 5-6 years ago on a flow bench and on a engine with 6 thermo couples... if you really must do at least change the whole top half.
  7. we have sold heaps of fronts R33 wide R34 wide and R33 to R34 conversion. We only have wide rears for 4door though ATM i will be sourcing 2door rears in januarry while in japan... we will then have stock in aus. for all the other front gaurds check out the bodykit page http://www.uras.com.au/syohin/syohin_aero.html
  8. trent but thats ok they are vehicle specific the new drift mounts, R33, R32, S13 etc
  9. its ours, it has been slowly built up over the past year and a half to use as a spare if cats car is unrepairable between rounds, it is super quick in the hills (where it spends most of its life) and is setup very similar to cats SR20 drifter from last year.... its a very competitive drifter and thrasher but yet has the sleeper look... pretty much a buy and compete type car... but with A/C and a full interior
  10. i have a comparo on SR20 when i literally did over 2 days back to back testing of a few HKS2835 variants and 2530 and 2540... i will post it up tonight it will give some insight into the way the behave. the best combo was a HKS 2538 56trim .61 on a sr20... too small for a 25 but i reckon a .68 would offer similar sort of RPM vs reponse relationship we were getting good numbers from it at low boost levels.
  11. what brand injectors? once you input the correct lag it should fix it.
  12. you need to look a a few things to determine whether or not you 'need' the extra benefits offerred by these dearer pistons, on many builds i will talk a customer down and prefer they spen money elsewhere for their application but for extreme and high hp and high rpm i prefer the jap brands as they tend to offer a better life cycle and in SR's they offer a unique crow design and ring combo..... oh and zero noise.
  13. jap brands tend to use the best pick of piston manufacturers and use specific models, ie the trust pistons i use in the top SR's i build use a crown design and special ceramic coated rings only available under license through trust even though the manufacturer makes "other" SR20 pistons. Arias are a good budget brand and i use them mostly on budget builds but i am not a fan of dished crown in any HOT SR20 i prefer the flater notched crowns, i am currentley building a test engine with SRP (JE). so i will soon know what they are like. i dont know of any jap manufacturer that manufactures their own pistons but most are made to spec and are not available in another brand or boxes, they are made under license.
  14. becareful with no name gears i fitted a few sets and they were timed incorrectley.
  15. my boss just bought this and it is currentley parked at work (ex work now) next to his bentley continental.... which is parked next to my priceless supercar.
  16. until you get in one and find they are made from recyled hyudai excel plastic..... worst interior EVER!! hired one and it really burst my bubble
  17. yeah i usually pick mine up from wreckers for about 50-60 each with tyres. i would strip the tyres off and sell em sep for 40-50 each
  18. ^^^^ RIP and condolences to the families as they are the real victims, i agree with you and the others but accidents happen.... always will always have... its called darwinism... sad fact but true. you can set 10kph speed limits and people will still die... no point going on about. at the end of the day we are all responisble for our own actions and the sooner the individuals and families accept blame for such terrible accidents instead of blaming contributing factors (the REAL ststistics speak a whole different truth) the better off the rest of us will be.
  19. we got R34 GTR guards to suit R34 GTT if you cant find any see http://www.uras.com.au/syohin/skyline.html#r34 from memory they are $649 and genuine URAS bolt on replacements
  20. nagisa-auto FTW top bloke great gear and get pissed whilst browsing i remmeber the lower arms and stuff i bought there about 5 years back... stunning and 20 beers later we managed to escape his shop.... the best thing about his shop was a little sign on the toilets... has anyone been there and seen it?
