How Much Is My R33 Worth?
FineLine replied to Freddy Kruger's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Are you in for some shocks as you get older. Go buy a commie right now then go try and sell it tomorrow. -
Strike! Knew i would get a bite Col. Wait till I get my tune. I want to work with the tuner on the power curve. I do no not want a light switch. Even though the hp will be up there I still want to have it come on in a linear fashion albeit at a higher plane than I originally intended. Projected power is going to be in the 350/400 rwkw range so we will have plenty to play with with regards to where we put the torque curve. Its going to be very interesting indeed.

Thanks guys. Get your arse around here Warwick. Time you had a bo peep bloke.

I Dont think the market is down at all. More a natural depreciation thing as the cars get older the same as any other vehicle. I bought mine as a largely unraped with basics mods car for 13 grand 3 months ago. Owner started at 17500 as did some others I was looking at. Most were willing to sell at or near the price I paid. Skylines arent an appreciating asset, They are a car and within a short time they will be worth bugger all due simply to their age. Take a look at any similar performance sedans or coupes, turbo fords or hsv type holdens etc. the price of them after 10/15 years of use is probably worse than that of a line. All things considered skylines even as grey imports do as good as most out there in holding value. -
Times 2. I thought about twins briefly. Too many hassles in other areas tho. Heres a question for those in the know. Is the power fc series specific. Meaning, will a pfc for a 33 gtst work on a series 1 and 2.

Nos Bottles - Wank Feature For Boot

Get a couple of past used by date fire extinguisher bottles and have them polished. -
One thing at a time Adam, Rome wasnt built in a day. But just for uou heres my wish list. clutch will be a berry item. Gearbox will simply be stock with new bearings and cryod gear set to begin with. (we'll fight that tiger as it arises) Brake setup will definitely be 33 gtr brembo setup. Helped andy do his and yeah. sweet brakes. Suspension is a headache. Most coilover setups I have seen turn a nice riding car into a cart. Hate it. If sombody made an adjustable setup that started at factory settings and then upped the stiffness and rebound etc from there they would own it. Comfy near stock settings for day to day driving and some adjustability for track work would be nice. Diff will be simply a 1.5 lsd Oil cooler is on the way as we speak. Sump is being sent next week for baffling, gates etc. Cams wont be quite that radical mate. Looking for something with relatively high lift and short duration on the exhaust side and similar but with slightly more duration on the inlet. q45 tb is on the way q45 afm is already here. Need a custom himmount exhaust manifold ( need probably not but want) Splitfires this week Pro comp power fc with hand controller. launch control and laptop port will be here in about 2 weeks time. And the myriad of little things that arise when you undertake this type of build up. Adjusto cam gears, silicone and braided lines and hoses etc etc. It wont happen overnight. I am a working man like most and can only do it as I can afford it. Next step in the chain is to get the head assembled with the stiffer springs and new cams. once the sump gets back I will fit a N1 oil pump and we will reassemble the long engine. cr is currently 8.7:1 but I may up that slightly to give a bit more squirt down low. (tuner can take care of timing to suit) And I will have fuzzy dice for the mirror and a nodding dog for the rear parcel shelf. Thats about it Adam.

That flag tower wouldnt hold that big slug. :laughing-smiley-014:

Cam selection has already been made Col. If I told you the specs I would have to kill you tho. As for the 25 bottom end, well you are partly right. The near stock 25 I currently have impresses the sox off me given its cubic capacity. Just wanna see if i can get the right setup with the new engine to give me the punch I am looking for. If not. Onyabike 25 and welcome aboard 3.o litre. Supporting mod selection such as cams, manifolds turbo, exhaust etc will be the key to putting the power where I want it. ( and that isnt where you have it) Time will tell if i am right or not.

Its a 25 bottom end mate. crack tested rods and crank, peened, cryoed blueprinted and balanced. Forged gikens. Porting was done by japanese motor sport in Adelaide. Combustion chambers were modified by some dude from the Adelaide tech college. Must be proud of his work as he signed his name in the head. The head flowed a pupported 920 hp on the bench. Selecting cams for this engine is going to require some careful thought. As for why after only 3 months. Dude its been 25 bloody years, not 3 months. I ran wild bent 8 street cars in my younger days and only gave it away to get married and do the kid thing. I bought this engine as a built concern with 4000 kays on board. Subsequent stripping of the engine has revealed all that the builder claimed. Its a gem. I didnt particularly want to tear down my own engine as it is in absolutely top notch condition. Why destroy a perfectly good engine. It will have a new home in an r32 sometime soon.

I have been towing daily for the last 20 years. As a commercial flooring contractor i haul some pretty decent loads around too. I have tried most vehicles over the years from most makes, Holden/ford/toyota/nissan etc. Best bang for your buck is without doubt the nissan patrol. I left the aussie makers and tried toyota, Not bad vehicles but their drive trains leave a lot to be desired and are as expensive as hell to repair. I bought my first patrol and never looked back. I have towed with the 3 litre petrol, 4.2 litre petrol, 2.8 litre diesel (unbelieavable little performer) and my current tow vehicle..4.8 litre petrol. I have never owned the 3 litre turbo diesel due to longivety probs with the engine. Sidestep that motor if you can. Too many mates came to grief with it. If you can find a good 4.2 litre diesel you simply own it. Not fast but can pull a train and as reliable as the sunrise. Not much to look out for when buying used. The general condition of the car will tell you all you need to know. If it looks dodgy it simply is. You cant hide bush thrashing on these things. In 20 years i have never spent money other than normal service items. Brake pads etc. Clutches are good for 400 thou. I can vouch for that. I did over 700 thou in the 2.8 diesel and 440 thou on the 3. litre petrol.

This Stock Or After Market? Dunno What Kind It Is
FineLine replied to BRUNSKIGTST's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Turn your baseball cap around so the peak is at the front. sit back and start reading. There are rheams of good info here. Blowing off commodores wont impress anybody. There are cars on here that can blow about anything on the damn planet off. a stock or near stock skyline is only fast compared to stock or standard geminis, lasers etc. I should Know, I have one but thanks to the wealth of knowledge available through this forum I am in the throes of putting together a nice quick ride and I will only buy my bits once. I feel for the poor buggers who did it without the assistance of these boards and made expensive mistake after expensive mistake.
