How to: Anodize your brake calipers
H@ME replied to shmiddy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
that is exactly what i did, i took the calipers back to bare metal, as best i could using a variety of wet n dry sand paper then prepsoled them cleaning them up good then i sprayed over in mc202. please revert back to the link i gave above for a more recent picture the paint has fully dryed looks a bit better. but not as "gold" as i thought it was going to be... -
thanks for the advice guys, i have read a few thread on here regarding painting brake calipers anodizing etc, the paint looks a bit better today it has now a nice shine finish to it. So should i go over the paint on it now in the dulicolour Mc100 ground coat then hit it again with MC 200, or should i just try a few more coats of th mc200? regards hame. here is a recent picture.

wow! already here, i was jsut saying to the miss's yesterday i cant wait to see one on the roads...so when do u think we'll see street legal r35 gtr's?
-
Began painting the calipers today i am using dulpicolour metalcast MC 202 which is a gold colour however it is not turning out the way i expected it too which is really annoyed me. i was told not to use a primer, and the results look like the paint is not thick enough. i used a full 311g can on the front two calipers and here is how it came out. should i let it dry over the next 24 hours and then maybe get another can?
-
heres the pics, it like the paint wasn't thick enough or something, think i should get another car n go over the top? i did not use a primer but i was told by the guy at autobarn not to as the paint did not need a primer... hamish.
-
hey guys i tried doing mine today i have preped the calipers and i used one can of duplicolour metalcast mc202 yellow with gold finish and it is not looking great at all! i have used the whole can on the two calipers and they look funny i'll post up pics asap hamish

-
Hey Eug! because i am doing 5-stud conversion with gts-t rotors and calipers does this mean i also need to get a larger brake booster? OoskylineoO if i were you i'd be getting the gts-t calipers as well unless you don't want to be spending too muc money you could be blank GTS4 rotors and have them drilled to the 5-stud pattern, so you can use your original calipers.. cheers hame

How to: Anodize your brake calipers
H@ME replied to shmiddy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah they do a gold part number Mc 202. its actually classified yellow but it has a gold finish so i am told from the guys from holts. So i have my calipers back to metal (check the N/A thread as i have pics in there) i am doing a brake conversion and i will be doing mine in the gold colour. Hope they come out good. So u use prepsol, then use metalic silver basecoat then apply several coats of the duplicolour metalcast anodized colour. cheers, hame ADD it did not come up the best i just preped the calipers with masking tape and then proceeded to paint over with dupilcolour mc202 and the results were not as expected. for pictures look at http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Pa...40#entry3591091 hamish -
Hey, I'm back! got back on the 15th! Missed the car a heap, took it for a drive to victoria point yesterday, loved it! I been working on the brakes since i been back trying to recondition the calipers. I've done well so far using wet n dry and other tools. Should i have them sand blasted? i also am getting the gtst rotors machined to stop warping when used. here is some pictures of the progress. cheers hamish

Mechanical Speedo Sender For The R33 Rb25det Gearbox
H@ME replied to Cubes's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Hey i just had my r33 GTS (non_turbo) skyline converted to an rb25det series 2 turbo engine with the r33 turbo gear box and ECU to match, basically making a r33 gts-t. I have a problem with my speedo and that is, that it is on approximately 1/2 (so when i am actaully doing 60km/h my speedo reads at 30km/h) Any ideas on what this could be? i have talked to a few people (check my thread in the N/A section) but this has not been answered properly). Hame -
sounds like you may have possibly worn a flat spot, if it sounds like the car was already on when trying to ignote the engine. hmm, hope all works out mate, hame.
-
i think i get this slightly too, i'm away for three weeks, when i come back i'll clean up the AFM with contact cleaner! cheers.

"Unsure about the 33's but twins won't fit the 32's due to the a/c receiver dryer." i know some one who has twin thermo's and they work a treat in a R32 keep the thing cool as ice! is it possible to take out the auxilory fan off the rb25det and just run thermo's? pro's? con's? hame
-
haha nice one! lol i think you wont notice much of a difference in the pod with CIA and stock box with pannel filter. I think they are as good as one another. Just make sure if you run a pod have a good heat shield and if you run the stock airbox, use an apexi or KnN pannel filter. As long as there is not restriction on flow, but good enough to filter the "Dirty" air into the intake, or turbo. hame

yeah as stated to tell you timing belt is to be done at 100,000k's lol gl man
