  1. Same as Joel, I have one for sale as well.
  2. My mate went to Queensland last year and said he'd seen somone being booked by a copper who was driving a stocker Land Rover 4x4. Reckons u couldnt tell it was a D.
  3. I purchased mine off here and got them on friday paid $350 for used ones, but they were on a car recently and two are new.
  4. why not get rx7 series 5 ones. 550cc & can be tuned with new computer. Drop straight in. (always gives a good excuse to upgrade later ) part number for rx7 ones is : 195500-1370
  5. Its ok, I received the items he sent. Just a little slow with his email replies, thats all
  6. yer it wasnt like it wasn't expected though. If we stuck to the "original" plan the motor would have only cost $1875 ish. remember those days Joel? Ahh yer - it'll be finished by october New oil pump throws things right up the sh.it worth 1/5 the motor
  7. heres another pic of the pistons for anyone interested. At this point i'd like to say a large THANKYOU to Joel for organizing this engine for us:) Without his helpful advice I would be driving a rb20 still and wondering where all the power is
  8. Update : Twin plate clutch with OS Giken flywheel now going in mine. Thanks to MattR
  9. Yeah and 80 degrees in yer car in the carpark
  10. A few reasons. 3037 ProS has t3 flange i believe. Bolts on to std. manifold. (trying to keep costs down again ) A mainfold + ext. wastegated turbo = instant defect. As Joel said :
  11. I cant speak for joel, but if i could have stretched for the extras (they were on the cards believe me) i would have. I asked Andrew about the oil pump and he said Mark Tilbrook built a motor that was similar and used the std rb30 oil pump. These are mainly street engines, with maybe the one trip down the 1/4 or out at Mallala. Turbo is listed above.
  12. The $3500 is just for the motor. It doesn't include installation / tuning. Joel and myself are doin the hard work of removing / installing the new motors. I'd hope the 300rwkw would be crossed, but over 350 u need to go forged rods etc...$$ Its hard when to say stop when spending on parts but it snowballs if u cant put a limit on power. Were aiming for reliability as well.
  13. Yeah, here ya go Steve http://www.comeracing.com/feature16.htm
  14. read the r33 rb30 conversion thread in the Forced induction section. Its variable cam timing. I have an r32 (ie rb20) the rb20 comp is used and runs everything as normal ie injectors etc. Read the thread - it'll answer all questions, and then -Joel- 's DIY rb30 guide. Then ask some q's in that thread
  15. Yeah, done some research on bearings. Here's a page on the clevites : http://engineparts.com/products/trimetal.html If u read it, it explains about bimetal and trimetal bearings. Then have a look at King bearings page: http://www.kingbearings.com/advantages.html
  16. Tooo damn long (its been almost 10 months now ) Id say about a fortnight, at the most.
  17. OHHH YEAH! Also to the list are the support system upgrades (for me) : HKS 3037s 550cc injectors AP Engineering Power FC + Hand controller Bosch fuel pump Rb25det gearbox + single piece tailshaft And sum 17" deep dish mofo's to get it to see the ground.
  18. I have, but he only comes on here once in a blue moon it appears Can someone pm me his mobile #?
  19. I guess your right there Roy - on some points A rb30 short motor can be found for $100 (i bought mine with a cracked head) and the block etc are all fine. Im not sure what compression ratio u get on the 30det with the cast pistons, but it has been discussed in the sticky thread at the top. Im not sure of the exact details but in mine being built the pistons are rb25 forged items and the cr is 8.5:1 As for the std turbs....ask -Joel- he will know more about it. I know with the rb25de head & std cams (i think) power starts dropping off over 5500rpm. (good excuse to upgrade) but it gives great fuel econony. I guess it comes down to how much u want to spend, cos once u go down a certain path the spending snowballs.
  20. thanks man, appreciated.
  21. Could u tell him to check his email, or log on to SAU He is in Perth. I haven't heard from him in a week now, just wanting to know what is going on regarding the items he had for sale. cheers:cheers:
  22. All signs point to larger displacement. How so is this overkill? U can use the std gearbox and turbo. Who says the rb25/30 has to be a performance engine? A std rebuild would cost approx 770 of the bottom end (new std pistons, bearings etc) and a head (750 without rebuilding it) and there's an engine that could take 250rwkw with safe tuning. (some will/wont agree:)) Isnt RIPS running 10's with the same type of engine? (yeah i know nos + gts4) He said he wants power down low - great example for rb30det Other support systems require upgrading whether he has the rb22 or rb30 anyway.
  23. the rb 30 is a nissan engine. the dohc head costs 750 comes with inlet manifold, fuel rail etc. the r32 rb25de head is a straight bolt on to the rb30e bottom end - no modification. your turbo is fine (im using the rb20 one which is high flowed till i can afford the biggun) rego, insurance, dont tell em resale - prolly get more buyers changing cars character - what, u like a lotta lag? stalling it to 3500 to take off at a decent speed?
  24. Option E : RB30det Increased torque over all other engines mentioned, and power delivery is right at the start of the rev range. And for all of u who say "yer but it doesn't rev" - Add a 264 cam and it powers to 7500 rpm. Can't beat that now can ya?
