  1. I'm finding in stop-start traffic, even when its 20 degrees outside, the engine fan engages and makes the car sound like an EA Falcon. Around 22-23 degrees, the fan is always on. No overheating at all even yesterday with the car saying outside temp was 42 degrees, in stop start traffic, with the air con on. Just noisy fan. When do others find their fans coming on? I'm wondering if I have an airflow issue between the FMIC and radiator. Should there be a tray between the base of the front bar to help the radiator get air? Cheers
  2. On page CH85 of the service manual, it says a maximum of 5mm air height is allowable, without explaining how it's obtained or eliminated. Before I start bleeding the system, can anyone elaborate what it's for, how I eliminate or create it (eg will bleeding reduce it or increase it)? Thanks
  3. Has front radiator panel, crossmember and associated crap like rack, control arms etc but no engine, gearbox, brakes or panels. $90 ono Australia Post might be unhappy if I try pretending it's smaller than it really is so pickup only Lilydale way..
  4. I have no need to see my timing gears or belt so I'm happy to swap the clear cover with a standard one, plus $50 if someone is interested Looks identical to this: http://www.justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=16710 Cheers
  5. They're the yellow ones, I suspect they're standard (440cc?) Asking $320 posted but open to negotiation. PM/reply/email for enquiries Cheers
  6. Yeah, that's what I'm doing now, the 5000km maximum claim however I'm claiming something like 62c/Km or thereabouts - 4 litre foul can. I travel about double those KM for work purposes, a few years ago work was about 25,000km annually The $20k uneducated guesstimate was hoping they dont depreciate as much as a new car. Frankly I'd be relieved if it depreciated less than 20k over three years. I have no idea whats involved in buying, leasing, claiming and whatnot for a car under a business name. I have an ABN/ACN so if the car is purchased by the company, I guess you dont pay GST or tax on (excluding private use), service, repairs, tyres, insurance etc etc. I expect a few other penalties, as long as I'm kept in the lower tax bracket for my company paying my salary, I reckon I've acheived the goal of a good car for considerably cheaper than the norm. I'll call the accountant tomorrow and see what he knows. My real concern was the age of the car, I read somewhere they can't be over 8 years old which will eliminate a bunch of cars as possibilities. Also, what's a novated lease? I keep hearing about them but dont know what they are or if they're suitable? Cheers
  7. Since 80% of my driving is work related, I'm looking at getting a car in the company name for tax purposes and because my current car is a piece of shit, so why not do it in style.... I looked at a new XR6t and decided, while it was nice, quiet, quick and looks great, I dont think i'll look back in a few years and think "I really enjoyed that car". So I'm looking at a 34 GTR. I've never leased a car in a company name before and dont really know if you can lease an older car and get similar tax benefits of a newer car. Also, how much are they likely to depreciate in the next 2/3 years? I'm seeing plenty of 33 GTRs for under 30k. Most 34's are above 50k. I'm wondering if they'll lose 20k or so in a few years, and if a 33 might be a better choice I want an unmolested one so that makes it harder to find. Any info on insuring a sports car in a company name? Anyone have any further info? Cheers
  8. Make: Nissan Model: R32 Skyline 4-door Milage: 127,000 Transmission: Manual Colour: Grey Location: Outer Eastern suburbs Complied? Yup RWC supplied? Nup Currently registered? Nup Price: $5,000 ono Contact: reply/pm/email Comments / Modifications: described below Images: Coming soon Got an R32 GTS4 4WD 4-door skyline in the (gunmetal?) grey color. Its got a blown RB20DET motor in it and I've removed the auto transmission. The body is in OK condition, if you want it perfect it needs a dent removal guy to pull out some dings like the type from retards who bash the door into your car. The front and rear bumpers need a lick of paint to make them good. The interior needs air con vents and the previous owner pulled the cloth trim from the doors (NFI why). I've got a complete replacement R33 RB25DE 4WD engine and a 4WD manual transmission that needs to be installed. The exhaust manifold and turbo from the 20DET can be bolted on to the new motor and then it needs to be tuned to work with the new motor. The factory ECU can be tuned to work. The only thing I dont have is the clutch pedal box and a new thinner manual brake pedal. I can help with sourcing if need be. I'm flexible on price if you dont want the engine and gearbox. I'm happy to seperate the new engine/gearbox from the car if you want something else. I'm asking around $5,000 for the lot but if you dont think its worth it, let me know and we'll discuss. I'll get pictures in the next few days. Features: Engine RB20DET Transmission: Auto (removed & gone) Body: 4 door Condition: Fair/Good Tyres: Need replacing Brakes: Almost new with ABS (4 spot fronts) Wheels: 16" GTSt 5 spoke Suspension: KYB adjustable all round edit - the rear muffler is stuffed and needs to be replaced. The exhaust looks like a 2.25" non factory job but I'm not sure.

  10. Item: R33 steering rack and crossmember, R33 washer bottle with two motors Age: NFI Condition: Rack has been outdoors for 3 years, washer bottle in excellent condition Price: Free To Fit: R33 Location: Outer east, Melbourne Contact: PM or email Comments: yadi yadi ya
  11. That makes sense, I'll give it a go tomorrow arvo. So two of the right angled screwdrivers on either side between the diff and shaft then just lever it off and it will pop off? Thanks
  12. I can't see any way of removing the 3-way unijoint from the front differential. How's it done?
  13. Sorry mate, it is 0.5L too small and has one too many letter "T"'s in the engine designation. I'm specifically after an RB25DE. I already have an RB20DET and dont want it.
  14. So that means the front diff is the same for both and they use a different transfer case ratio. Slack bastards!
  15. I'm interested in the RB25DET if it will fit an R32 GTS4 Will you seperate the engine as I do not want the auto? Cheers
  16. Anyone got a working motor they wanna offload?
  17. I'd like to know if the front and rear diffs are the same ratio difference between GTR and GTS4? I recall the GTS4 rear was about 4.3 and GTR rear was 4.1 What about the front diffs? If they are 4.3 and 4.1 respectively, this means a GTR box will fit, yes? What other differences are there, are the ratios the same or different? Any other info I may need to know? Cheers

  20. nope, he's still around but has moved on from his past work. I might fire off an email to this thread and let him reply. old skool SAU'ers here... who else can we get in here....
  21. I'm so over a stock car, even though this one is somewhat improved....
  22. hahahaha, Lilydale is fine, as long as you use it as a thoroughfare and not actually stop outside Dukes or the pool place to do single leggers like all the VN's and EA's in the area.... Look at the positive side, at least Keira will have to think twice before raising her leg on one of my wheels I'm thinking "track" as demolition derby. I only reconsidered when I saw the original receipt with all the optional extras and it included the usuals like air con, velour, gutless motor, slushbox etc but the one that caught my eye was the pre-ticked entry of "Factory rust - standard"
