  1. Damnit, its shit itself again. I reckon the viscus core is doing wierd crap because the engage/disengage points of the bimetallic strip remain in the same spot I left it so it hasn't bent. Can anyone share what outside temperature their engine fan clutch engages in regular day to day driving?
  2. If you're on the other side of town go see Sam at Dr Drift www.drdrift.com.au or 0425 818 755 Knows it inside out.

That guy was driving close to perfect for a race, perhaps not a fun day - I learned heaps by trying to keep up to him and following him around the track helped me drive my car a lot better than I would have otherwise, I'm suprised the way I was heavily under brakes sometimes bringing the back out of line and on the edge of losing control as I threw it into the corners that I didn't get black flagged.

Yeah, I didn't know who to say hi to either :| There were a few tools overtaking in corners, but I found most people were great on the straight when I needed to overtake I did and people just let you past, I decided to let cars keep passing me until I got a clear run ahead then opened it up behind that WRX before my car shit itself and I pulled off
  5. When you think you've figured out how much it will cost to fix any issues you've found, add approximately 30-500% for all the other unknowns and remember you pay the GTR tax on all parts. They're not a cheap car to own, even if you do all of the work yourself. On that note, I love every single minute I spend in mine. Well worth it.

That thing was nuts - what was it? Not only quick but cornered and stopped much better than anything else that day. That white rexxy NYTIME or whatever his plates were - got black flagged after giving it heaps, was one of the better drivers there, hanging on at 9/10ths on all the corners. Was great to follow his lines and learn where to steer, brake and boot it. Was that you filling up at the BP servo in the morning behind me?
  7. Carry a bottle of Beam in the car. If you get pulled over after being a tool, down half the bottle. The judge will understand if you were drunk. You wont get off but you'll probably keep your car
  8. So pinging is OK? You're right it's unlikely to destroy itself immediately. Either is driving on a flat tyre. Both are undesirable and lead to expensive and serious damage.
  9. Elimination. Say it's cyl #2 Swap the coil pack between #1 and #2 and see if the fault follows the coil pack. New coils can be faulty too. If it doesn't, remove coil number 2 from its mounted position, put in any spark plug, earth the body with a jumper lead, disconnect injector number 2 (so you dont foul the existing plug) and start the motor. Identify if you have spark. If you do have spark, the injector could be faulty or the wiring to the injector could be faulty. If you do have spark, and the injector is firing, check the compression of the cylinder when the engine is cold and hot. Narrow the fault down and come back with your results.
  10. Injector plugs dodgy? Narrow it down to which cylinder by unplugging one injector at a time until the misfire doesn't change
  11. Do you have an alarm installed? They might have linked the boot light up with the interior light, many dodgy installers do that. A cheap install could also have shorted the door sensor wire leaving it on all the time. If not, unscrew both door switches. They're held in with one large phillips head screw under the cap. If it goes off after unscrewing one or hte other, you know theres a short nearby. Otherwise it could be the body computer that controls the interior light/delay etc.
  12. Ring around wreckers to see if you can find one. Theres a link in the Victoria section for wreckers. You should have the car tuned with a new crank angle sensor installed, preferably on a dyno which will give you both maximum economy and power. If you dont want the expense, just set the base timing with a timing light. Its very easy to change the crank angle sensor but if you tighten it up in the wrong spot, it could destroy your motor after a few minutes of driving. One millimeter forward or back of where it is could cause detonantion, or pinging. Who has done the work for you so far?
  13. <thinking> we should write letters like the above to reader comments of various newspapers to spread the idiocy....</end thinking>
  14. Unlikely. If being distracted, tired, fatigued or unaware of your surroundings ever killed a single person, the police would crack down on it to remove the killers off the roads. It's blatantly obvious that only speed kills since so many officer's hours are spent enforcing it plus all the cameras. Coming a distant second is drink driving. Distraction, tiredness, fatigue and unawareness has never killed a single person in Australia. It certainly has in countries that comply with the laws of physics and dont pay Monash to do crash studies, but nobody in Australia has ever been harmed by not speeding. It's physically impossible to crash if you're not speeding, you couldn't crash even if you tried. </sarcasm>
  15. No, his words were chosen very carefully as are all political spin doctors. He made an unspoken, yet clear analogy between speeding and running off the road into a tree.
  16. From the Herald Sun article Exceeding a posted speed limit ≠ drifting into a tree. Normally I dont insult people on a personal level but this guy is a downright moron. I shudder to think how he could further ruin the state. I couldn't write a fictional article with that level of stupidity and idiocy within.

Probably had a dog in it too
  18. yeah, surely you've seen police vehicles with RAID written on them? Remove All Import Drivers. and cheers guys, I wasn't expecting POTY but why not
  19. Makita or GMC? Will you give me a tax invoice and warranty?
  20. Anyone got a spare piano? I'd like to bring my Morris Marina.
  21. I've found heaps of cheap CMOS sensor stuff that'll probably only work reasonably on bright sunny days like this and this. It needs to have the following features: - an input to begin recording when a logic high or low (12v or gnd) is applied to an input - do endless recording (when storage fills up, it deletes oldest data and keeps going) - record audio - High Definition, minimum of 720 vertical lines - CCD pickup - Good low light sensitivity without IR illumination Does such a device exist?
  22. I'll be there. Are there any speed humps? I'll find my c-spanner and lower it to 1.5cm clearance, install the 8000k HIDs and remove the mufflers. I'll leave the H pattern on the gear knob though. See you at 7pm
