How Do I Tell What My Spring Rates Are?
Levi_ replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Here's a quick Spring Rate Calculator I put together in Flash, I'll do a nicer JavaScript version if people are interested. http://skylines.wtf0.com/springrate/ -
Definitely up for a wet day, but there's 100% chance of me spinning, my tires don't like the wet, so it should be fun!

Damn, I wish I had the money, that's a great deal! -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_fuel_cell -- nuff said.

Fuel light will come on when you're on E or just below. When it first comes on you still have a good 10L left (at-least), though you may find around corners your fuel fails to feed and you might chug a little! Haha. But yeah, the fuel gauge is very lenient, it gives you heaps of warning.

I'll be down shooting the event. Staying there for a night so we can catch everything on Saturday and Sunday.
-
Was ont he cover of the west. Funy though because: A) Technically by the West and News.com publishing this, they're essentially causing any potential 'abuse' of the camera free weekend. So though they may say that speeding is bad and dangerous they're just shooting themselves in the foot. B) Speed camera don't stop deaths. Simple as that, the knowledge of potentially being caught (camera or not) for speeding causes people not to speed - preventing speed related accidents. C) Just because there's no Multinovas out, doesn't mean they wont be out in greater numbers with handhelds and vehicle mounted radars.

Woodvale/Kingsley is PACKED with skylines.

I've got a R33 S2 running Pod Filter, Boost controller at 10/11psi, 600x300x76 FMIC, 3" Split Dump/Front, Full Trust 3/4" Exhaust and no Cat (shhhh). I've got a SAFC2 Neo in, but it's not tuned yet, the car is running reasonably rich and it pops flames here and there but it's generally fine, just fuel economy has dropped a little. I doubt I'm making very good power with this setup though as without a tune it'll mostly be wasted. So, make that Emanage a little higher on your list and you should be able to make good power and good economy.

The body is too roughly shopped in. Doesn't look in the least bit real to me, sorry.

$22k for landed and complied Manual R34 with normal mileage is more than do-able. Hunt around, but if you want to save your money import through one of the well known companies rather than buying locally.
-
Haha, funyy. But anyway, it's not a short shifter, everything seems normal... I'll go take a picture... Ok, here we go, sorry about the camera phone pic, my DSLR is too much of a hassle to take out for a quick snap: Super Quick X Pivot Systems
-
Quick semi-related question. I have a little badge on my gear stick dash surround that says "Super Quick X" with a serial number -- looks like some kind of gearbox part ID plate but I have no idea what it's for and if it's standard? Any ideas? Oh It's on an R33 GTSt S2 ('96).

You'll still need to go over the pits. Any car coming over from another state for whatever reason (yours or not) will need to pass an inspection.
-
Ahh ok, you're probably right then. I was just going off what I was told when I asked the licensing centre (who are usually wrong anyway).
-
You'll need to be a resident of the origin state to do that.
-
I got a bit of shake after the AHG Track Day last year, because I flat-spotted my front tyres. Done any skids? That might be the cause.
-
I drove around for about 2 months but then when I took it over they said I was meant to have a moving permit, but the guy was nice and gave me one on the spot so I could continue the registration proccess.I did get pulled over by the cops in those 2 months, they didn't say anything regarding the plates etc.
-
My car was from a dealer and I was under the same impression. However when I eventually took the car over the pits I was told I wasn't meant to be driving it without a temporary moving permit, fortunately the guy was nice and let me buy a moving permit on the spot, once I had this he could proceed with re-registering my car. I did however manage to drive around for 2+ months on NSW rego without getting in trouble.
-
Ok, there are two ways to go about it. The way you probably can't do it is by being a resident of the state you're buying from, then you can bring the car over drive it for 3 months before you get it re-registered. You'll need to take it over the pits, pay stamp duty and registration costs. The other way (if your not a resident of the source state) is to bring it over (toll cost me ~$900-100 for my R33 -- took about 1.5 weeks) then you'll have to get a temporary moving permit ($14 from the licensing center) this will let you drive it on WA roads for 48 hours to take it to the pits and get it passed. You'll then need to pay pits inspection fee (I think it was about $50), stamp duty (based off the cost of the car -- use this link) and normal registration and number plate costs. You'll then get to bolt your plates on and drive it home. A few things to note: - The remaining registration period from NSW will be lost, however I believe the owner can un-register it in NSW when he drops it off at toll (or whoever) and get a refund on the remaining registration time. - When you go the the pits, make sure all lights, horns, wipers etc. are working and all 'questionable' equipment is removed. - Bring some basic tools to the pits that way you can do any minor changes/mods/fixes to your car and have it re-inspected quickly -- also good for removing the old plates and putting the new ones on. - Unless you're the owner of the car and a resident of it's source state you cannot drive it on WA roads without a moving permit - i didn't know this and drove mine around for 2 whole months! :| - Get somebody to at least look at the car before you go ahead and buy it, surely somebody over there will be willing to help and just report on any minor issues before it arrives. Oh and when you do the transfer of ownership -- you should be fine with filing out your perth address etc. you just aren't allowed to drive it until it's reregistered. And make sure you take all receipts and proof of ownership papers to the pits!

Doing actions in photoshop is easy as pie, but if you're after something fast and free, try Irfan View - has some great, fast batch processing options.
-
Sounds like you have a boost/intake leak of some sort. Keep checking those hoses and the whole intake system.
-
Yeah, I think I might have to do that sooner than I thought. Maybe I'll just mount the number plate a little higher until I have more money to blow on plates.

The hard thing is, space is pretty limiting. The fog lights may be a bit too much in the way to put it off to the left.
