Really we shouldn't be comparing the Skyline to the supra at all. The 300ZX is Supra's contender. How does the VG30DETT fair against hte 2jz.

Whats actually wrong with the head? Small ports/valves? The port angles/size appear to look ok to me? http://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=...%3Doff%26sa%3DN Apparently each port has a slightly different design which makes them a nightmare to work on when porting

Ahh not good. I had a new Exide battery do this to me some time ago. The auto store replaced it as goodwill, they believed my car was overcharging or the battery had been dropped. I know I definitely didn't drop it as I put it in the car at the autostore the second I bought it. The PFC has near perfect volts also. So its not overcharging. This new Exide is good but. The old would loose its charge by simply leaving on the radio while I washed the car, and it was a new battery. :S It stuffed a lot of the engine bays paint directly below the battery, a metal brush, rust kill primer and paint and its all good.

Heavier VL's with their RB30 SOHC's run 10.5's with bolt ons and a shade over 300rwkw. :S

lmao.. As much as I would like to publicly post his details I can't.

Stalling Prob With Modified Stock Bov (flutter)
Cubes replied to Rochey's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Give it a go.. Nothing to loose. -
300rwhp without sequential turbo's but using only a stock rb25det turbo the rb30det's make all their boost ~2000rpm. So not really a good comparison. At what power level (not US dyno power levels but here in AUS) do the 2jz's start bending rods? I've on occasions visited the supraforums and laughed quite hard how they seem to think rb25/26's and 30's melt pistons. lmao.. Poor tuning melts/breaks pistons. My general feeling is the 2JZ is a slightly stronger motor than the RB30. RB30DET's have reasonable bottom ends, they manage to hold close to 400rwkw providing the tune is good. I have no idea what the 2jz is capable of on an AUS dyno.

At uni we were told that anything we place the usual copyright notice on is copyright. We were not told that there is a 'legal' method to 'legally' obtain a copyright for it. I believe what you may be thinking of is a patent? A quick google and I stumbled upon this... http://www.templetons.com/brad/copymyths.html And then there's this in the SAU Guidelines.

The SR20DET not stalling due to blocked bov on its stock ecu.. You think that could be partially related to the smaller dia afm? Its quite possible the smaller afm prevents 'reversion' if you like. Similiar to that of the design of 'some' welll sorted exhaust manifolds. It would be interesting to see what happens if one were to fit up an rb20/25 80mm afm and use a safc to modify the signal accordingly WITHOUT any tuning. (i.e HW4 in HW2 out or something along those lines) Those who have fiddled with an SAFC or read the manual even will know what I mean. -
Awesome.. Managed to get a $9 refund. LMAO. It will be donated to SAU!

This may come in handy. Its what I use for diag or loom fiddling. R32 RB20DET, R32 RB26DETT and R33 RB25DET

Sorry for the late reply people. Valentines DAY! The guide he is selling IS the guide that was made possible by SAU. Its exact date is the 1st of May 2006. So its not even the latest one. lol Not that there's really that much difference. It really needs a good overhaul and gtr/gts4 section included. I also have his full details obviously. Cost me $9 though. But all is not lost. All of the items have been ended so I'm assuming Ebay has shut down his sale of SAU's RB30DET guide.

Amosite, Throw water/meth injection on it. Best chance of getting closer to your goal before they let go. -- And for those interested in the FET coils. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FET-DIRECT-IGNITION...8QQcmdZViewItem Not much of a price difference to new Splitfires from Nengun.

Good stuff Jnr32, I'll be keeping an eye out. -
Troymeister, This is an old dyno sheet i've kept since the early rb30det days. I believe it was a GT3040 .82 running 1bar. Both were tuned to optimal afr's and ignition, std plenum nice ext gate hotside. I believe it was this bloke that later went the gt35r .82, he said he's never looked back. I've actually had a couple tell me that. GT30r to GT35r and never looked back. For the track I really think the GT35r .82 is a really nice match. I'm going a GT35r .82 with the xr6 .5 comp cover, as suggested by the local turbo bloke (ATS). It should be good for up to around 350rwkw. Why the .5, well I suggested it and he said most definitely, it improves streetability without killing top end for the power levels you are looking at. Also.. Antony's Rb30DET gt35r .82exh .7comp. Loaded up on the brake I saw 15psi by a shade over 3000rpm!! I was quite impressed. Its slowly being all sorted and turning in to an awesome package. As should mine be after I stop this damn mig wire sticking to the item I'm welding.

lol. All good fun. With my current setup. I really miss being able to rev it to 7.5k.

hrmm yer you definitely deserve a kickback as the ol' rb20 won't be serving up in that department. *joke as you know* haha Thanks Roy. Champ. I'll buy you a beer or two next time your down in Adelaide. Disclaimer: I have nothing against rb20's they are an excellent motor. Only Stirring Troy!

Thanks buddy.. What will happen to the scumbag.. I have no idea I'm an ebay virgin.

Thanks people.. Much better response than I anticipated. URAS, I'll drop the odd search in from time to time and let you know if anything pops up.

The GTR/GTS4's run a block/sump adaptot plate so it also lowers the sump down slightly. Anotonys GTS4, everything is VERY close. The bonnet had to be cut as the cam belt cover was touching.

Well 2g is pretty close to 2.5g. But you could scrape through and save a few hundred and still experience vista in all its glory if your not so much in to games, not every one is. If your 2.5g system is with software then yes its on the mark, if not then it is a touch expensive. BUT retail vary's so damn much. ~8-9years ago when I was a partner in a computer business it was often the case we had to buy from interstate in bulk as it was a hell of a lot cheaper than buying here in Adelaide. Adelaide prices even without markup you'd be paying very close to what competitors were selling 'retail'. Unsure if things have changed since then.
-
2.5g is a touch excessive. Is that with software?. Retail for just under 2k u can get a decent amd x2 or intel core 2duo, 2gb ram, 320gb sata II, nvidia 7900gs, 19" lcd, dvdburner, case/psu, keyboard, mouse, altec 3 piece speakers. But without software. To reduce the price.. $160 odd less for 1gb instead of 2, $100 less for a slower vid card $30 less for a 250gb sataII $50 less for a slightly slower cpu ----- $340 so totalling a system worth ~$1600 you could get something that will easily run vista and the odd game without any issues. + software. Its minimum requirement of 512mb is quite silly, I've tried for my own curiosity. 768mb I feel is the absolute bare minimum if you want reasonable performance/prettyness. -- Bl4ck32... Give memtest another hit overnight (loop test 5 & 8). Just in case. -- I'll be throwing it on my oldies system in the next few days to see how they like it. (Core 2 Duo E6400, 1gb Kingston 667, Intel m/board, 7300GT) That system cost next to nothing to build. -- Andrew, on the note of vista have you see the nephew widget thats an Internode costomer has slapped together? http://www.madfellas.com/internode/nephew.gadget

lol I've had it install on an 4.5yr old Nforce 2 AMD computer and it runs perfectly fine. Good thing for the 30day Vista Install trial. Wouldn't that just piss you off. 6months ago spend a heap on the latest hardware and vista locks BSOD's with it.
