  1. vlsd is vlsd.. They look the same from all the ones I've seen. BUT I haven't seen too many. :S
  2. The stocky gtst diffs usually only have a circular hole centred instead of the hole close to the crown wheel. Pop the half shafts out and take a couple of pics.
  3. hrmm. Definitely looks similiar to a GTR mech centre I've seen HOWEVER your half shafts are only 5bolt. The GTR half shafts are 6 bolt. I've just bought my self a GTR diff, axles etc. Pulled it apart and yes it has the 6 bolt axles (1 x 6) BUT it looks like a bloody VLSD!!
  4. *subscribes*
  5. Maybe you have a hairline crack in the ceramic of one of the plugs? I done this once when I used a swivel to replace the plug under the cross over pipe. I had the plugs in and out 3-4 times and only saw the crack on the last. Drove me insane trying to track down the slight miss around 5500rpm that would then clear up and pull well to 7000rpm. So check them all very carefully. Gap to 0.8mm and then try to get to the bottom of what the 'real' cause of your misfire is. The boost levels your running you should be able to run a 0.8 gap.
  6. $5000 for a R32 box? Hahaha typo methinks. heheheh What typo?
  7. You bastard.. I'm on adsl2 but only connecting at 5mbps.
  8. The BK plugs are essentially the same as the BC plugs just a touch shorter.
  9. Keep us posted with Pics.
  10. Looks like an rb20 actuator to me.
  11. Plugs you say. BCPR6E They are a NGK V-groove 0.8mm gapped plug. Thats the exact part number, don't go adding bits to it or changing it. They can be had from Motor traders/Coventrys for as little as $2.80 per plug. Buy else where and they might not have them and if they do you will be looking at $4.80 or something per plug. Under full load/WOT... Have you checked your voltages? Maybe your Alt is on her merry way? Has the motor been out of the car? Check all earths. Battery to chassis, battery to chassis to motor, all the little earth straps from the chassis to exhaust manifold, inlet manifold and head. Lots of little buggers around. Well there is on mine.
  12. Did you ring all the wreckers in the stickied list? Here in Adelaide you can pick up a 300zx airflow meter for low 300's bran new. Prices vary considerably. I was after a stock air box quite some time ago. Adelaide Jap wanted $250, JMS wanted $40. R33 rwd Gearbox's range from 1100 to 1700. R32 rwd gearbox's range from 500 to 1000. In the past I have seen an R32 GTR gearbox go for $700 to $1500 here in Adelaide. Depends who you call I suppose.
  13. Godzilla32, You are an exception. Generally speaking apprentices are crapo and I sure as hell know I wouldn't want one working on mine. But no one works on mine anyway. lol I do.
  14. Its been running 1bar through the mid for some time now with my home bodgy tune. Just boost drops to 11psi odd by 4500rpm. So 1bar from 2200rpm until 4500rpm. Goes quite hard in the lower gears. Just 100km/h + it falls over. Has no issues edging out a mates r32 rb30det gts4 gt35r making 270rwkw (17psi) through second gear on a rolling run, he passes in third once we are up over 120km/h. So the mid range is definitely not n/a like, just the top end. lol
  15. Stray current.... If the car has poorly wired accessories that will happen. In our lines that already run an alloy rad if you don't have a problem then no need to worry. The VL's are released with a copper core so any problems won't show until u fit an alloy rad. Thats the way I understand it. Could be wrong.
  16. On that note I have a rear diff ratio of 4.375 thats in good nick if any one wants it? I bought a GTR diff that already had the swap done to it. Its in excellent condition but I'm keeping the centre and half shafts. I'm selling just the diff gears (pinion and crown) or the pumpkin if the individual wishes not to stuff around refitting the pinion to their pumpkin. I was hoping for a set of 4.11's to go behind the rb30. Bugger.
  17. If precision hypereutectic are no stronger than factory pistons then there's no need to run forged pistons until you're over 400rwkw. There's a few words over at calaisturbo on the precision pistons. http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=28737 - Post 5 http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=66415 - Post 3 I noticed there's a few reports of failed hyp acl pistons over at ct.com.
  18. 50,000km's and no issues with my cometic. THe motor still has the same compression as it did when it was new. So.. Very happy as one would be.
  19. If your running an SAFC I would think 1-2hrs absolute max. So the tune shouldn't cost much more than $250.
  20. I do get some slap but its not audible unless you pop your bonnet and really listen. Even then it only sounds like a little top end noise. So definitely not what I'd consider 'piston slap' but its definitely there for the tuned ear. I have No idea what the ring end gap clearance is. The bloke who built my motor said never to let it sit and idle on cold starts. Simply get in and drive it lightly to bring the engine temps up quickly. He also did something funky with the bore hone to reduce leak down and speed up run-in.
  21. In the journal bearing range its very difficult to go past the sliding performance highflow. They make good power and spool very well on the rb20.
  22. Could very well be due to stock exhaust. Throw a good turbo back exhaust on it.
  23. teazn_r33, What turbo are you running?
  24. Pokie.. Have you got pics of that birthday cake you've been talking about? It is a proper b'day cake isn't it? Not some el crapo cheese cake shop thing?
