Sorry bud what I was getting at is typically it just works. As you have mix'd and matched a little (gtst loom + gtr loom you did say your plugging sections of the gtr loom in to the gtst loom yeah?) it will be difficult to narrow down. I am presuming the tuner has worked with djetro's before?

Change From Gt2835 Turbo To Gt3037 R33 Skyline
Cubes replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Unfortunately Adelaide is useless. We have no drag strip. Budget/priorities it is. I've wasted too much $$ in the past on cars this time around I decided to do it for as stock as looking performance only. Lots of fan dangled bits this time around does not interest me. Hence the build of the rb30 and R32 chassis to obtain absolute max average power in a light weight car and everything literally looks 100% stock. As power goals continually increase and the car is just a weekender I'm really considering the purchase of a cheap tidy 4door R32 GTS4 and dropping an RB30DET in to that with a nice little GT4088r and setting it up for track only, it will be street driven but chances are won't last long as they are hot on defects here in SA. I have yet to hit the dash with a vid cam @ 302rwkw as its still a little hairy but previously with a little over 260rwkw it would zip to 100km/h in a shade over 4secs by idling it off the line. No big rpm launches. It would then go on to hit 180km/h in ~9secs. Unsure if you run a Z32 afm but for reference mine is hitting ~5volts. -
Perfectly normal. Clean it up with a Stanley blade and SK's your uncle.

Any decent engine workshop will be able to easily perform the vct mod. Nothing really needs to be spelt out; pull the bits apart and have a good look. Combine what you see with the tid bits you read and off you go.

As you have mixed and matched a little its hard to say. The Rb26 pfc simply bolts in with very minimal changes to the GTST loom (primarily issues with multiple o2 sensor, multiple afm and airtemp) If you are running with a single afm set the airflow correction to 50% across the board and then tune the airflow curve if you are running a q45 or if your running a z32 simply select z32. You can then literally drive it to be tuned providing you set up inj. correction if need be. I really believe looking down the path of ATTESA is barking up the wrong tree.

Change From Gt2835 Turbo To Gt3037 R33 Skyline
Cubes replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Traction really isn't a problem even with it making 200rwkw at 3500rpm and 256rwkw @ 4000rpm. 200rwkw with the vg30det turbo used to be a problem until I pushed in 12mm of cradle rake, new shocks/springs and better tyres. Now once the tyres are a tad warm second gear only slightly chirps and third gear simply hooks up unless you hit section of road that is a little uneven. I've had comments it looks like a 4wd the way it lunges away through second and when clicking third. First gear sure it spins but thats what the 3ltr is for; slightly short shift it doesn't drop off boost it just picks up and goes. It actually feels like if I were to shove a set of RA1's on the rear I would have zero traction problems and could do with some more boost through the mid. The 1.06 will feel lazy creating traction problems in wet weather and loose that throttle response/control as the larger turbine housings tend to make all their boost within a smaller rpm window. The .82 however windmills from basically off idle which makes brisk driving in wet weather and poor road conditions extremely easy. All though I have not driven a GT30 with both the .8 and 1.06 thats my perception from driving both a GT35 .82 and 1.06 both on an RB30DET. IMO for the 2.5 ltr .8 rear max for the 3ltr .8-.9 max regardless of the turbo size you are running. I really think if I went a 1.06 the car under normal driving conditions would be slower. Sure big rpm launch at the drags it might be quicker but thats really not what I want out of the car. If I want more than 320rwkw but under 390rwkw I've decided the GT35 .82 is not a big step away BUT it requires nice exhaust manifold, inlet and most likely cams with more lift if I don't want to run huge amounts of PULP unfriendly boost. The way the car is now with ~20psi through the mid from ~3200rpm (when on road, loaded on the dyno it can see 20psi just under 3000rpm) is awesome; tougher actuator and push another 2-3psi in up top I believe it will pretty much max out the combination and should touch 320rwkw. Sure there may be another 10-20rwkw absolute max if I run the turbo well in to compressor choke. 10-20rwkw is not worth the quick spool, windmill and mid range power of the .82 especially if traction is not a problem. With regards to compressor choke. the GT3076 comp map states ~525hp. 525hp is 391kw at the fly. Minus the usual 70-75rwkw drive train loss at this power level and we have 316-321rwkw. Close enough for me. -------- Warlord, You've spent a lot of $$ on little bits that probably didn't need replacing for your power level. Mine was a budget performance bang for buck build. I did go a little overboard with having the head ported/polished and valve deshroud but I seriously believe it was money well spent as fuel economy is awesome even with the large cams and it seems to be making more power easier than other rb25det's and r32 rb25de heads on rb30 bottom ends with similar setups. Hell I'm still running the std coils that were breaking down at 12psi until I siliconed them over a year ago. Now 20psi odd and they are still trucking. They won't be replaced until I have to. -
I'll be in.

Change From Gt2835 Turbo To Gt3037 R33 Skyline
Cubes replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Well thats exactly it.. 20rwkw worth the non stock look and additional cost of a manifold. No thanks. I really think the HKS3030ProS/GT3076r squeezes the absolute maximum out of the motor from a simple bolt on perspective. 18-20 is a fair whack. Mine including the purchase of the head then rebuild/port polish etc set me back around 6k in total. In total I've spent around 12k to get mine where it is now. Adds up damn quick. -
Change From Gt2835 Turbo To Gt3037 R33 Skyline
Cubes replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Its a 3ltr, std inlet and exhaust manifolds. It pretty much topped out around 270-280rwkw before the cams. Dropped the cams in and went easily to 300 on 17psi. The problem is it wouldn't hold any more than 17psi due to the weak actuator. It had the same issue before the cams making less power. 17psi was it. The GT30 .82 exh. housing would be slightly larger than the 2835 I would presume. I've known Sean @ Boostworx since he opened up shop so Boostworx it is. Motors done 90,000km's and hasn't let go so I'm confident of his tuning ability. Warlord... To be honest the most I've seen out of the HKS3037S with a nice exhaust manifold, plenum and cams is 323rwkw on ~22psi with pump. Al's RB30DET with cams, exhaust manifold and plenum has done 304rwkw on 16psi with more left in it as the motor has only just been run in. No doubt that setup will pull 320rwkw hell maybe crack 330rwkw. I'm going to push hard to crack 320rwkw with the std exhaust manifold even if it means extrude honing. Unless I drop a GT35r on it and drop the setup in to a cheap R32 GTS4 aiming for high 300's I'm not going to bother with the HKS exh. manifold. I've driven the car a bit now and absolutely hooked on its 200rwkw @ 3500rpm and 256rwkw @ 4000rpm. From second gear it hooks up damn well. 16" tyres FTW lol. I've tried wider 18" tyres and there's no comparison when comes to straight line grip. The 18's just simply don't. -
Change From Gt2835 Turbo To Gt3037 R33 Skyline
Cubes replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Awesome sly33. Very keen to see the results. Mines at 302rwkw with 256rwkw at 4K so its rather amusing in second. Still on stock inlet/exh. manifolds. I really hope this extrude hone is a go. Who's doing the tune? The HKS2835ProS with cams manifolds etc is good only just for 300rwkw. Will be keen to see if it will manage it on the extrude honed exh. manifold. -
Good luck Tangles. What mods this time around?
-
An Adelaide Based ISP.

Its a R32 GTR.. You can simply pull the 4wd fuse and no more 4wd Hell rig up a little switch if you like.

Sponsors are a pain in the arse to organise. When do you plan to do your dyno day madaz?

Change From Gt2835 Turbo To Gt3037 R33 Skyline

GT3037 - You'll most likely need exhaust manifold + cams to get 320rwkw 'maybe' 330rwkw if you lean on it hard. -
Sard 800cc Injectors - Latency Help!
Cubes replied to bombtrack's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Likely not latency but rather the bov setup and or accelerator injector time. Mine had an issue where light throttle accelerating with traffic from first to second it would often back fire through the exhaust. Tweaked the accelerator injector time and cleaned it almost all up. The only time it now pops etc is due to AFM reversion as I don't run a BOV. So give first a little bit of stick and slow shift in to second almost always gets a little flamage out of the exhaust. -
Garretts Gt30/gt35 Iw Housing + Actuator Travel Concern
Cubes replied to Cubes's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Its the crap 1bar actuator. Mine lifts off the seat hard at 11psi also. The ebc does help some what though as we have it not allowing any boost to the actuator until around 13psi. It seems to get it past the hump; much less and it will be crapo as you are experiencing. The difference is huge. Without the ebc 1bar at 4300rpmish. with ~11psi at 3000rpm. Shove the ebc on it and it will make 1 bar at 2800rpm; usually on the street I see 19psi by ~3k. -
Garretts Gt30/gt35 Iw Housing + Actuator Travel Concern
Cubes replied to Cubes's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
No idea haven't priced one up yet. Expecting 100-200 or there abouts. The actuators can be used on the gt35's with out problem. Yes still running the std flapper with a bell mouth its the .82 rear. -
Garretts Gt30/gt35 Iw Housing + Actuator Travel Concern
Cubes replied to Cubes's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
To dig up a thread. No issues with overboosting 15.5psi smack on perfectly the actuator appears to be a tad lazy but its apparently a common trait with the Garrett actuator. I went with Shauns advice and stuck with a bell mouth to prevent boost creep. It has done the trick nicely. BUT boost drop up top sucks. Its definitely blowing the gate open. Time to get rid of the small diaphragm Garrett 1bar actuator and in with a large diaphragm 18psi actuator. -
I want a POV PACK R32 GTS4 4 door and then drop a RB30DET in to it with an ATI balancer GT4088R and flick the bastard to 8000rpm without issues while making all its boost at around 4000rpm and cranking out 450rwkw odd.
-
Its at cost so there will be no prizes.. Slug another $5 and offer some prize. haha Brian sorry bud you can't win.
-
<googles> That really sucks.. $385 per fortnight doesn't help the expense of setting up for your first child.. Cot, Pram, powerfc, injectors etc etc. :S
-
haha lies.. you wait until you have that 5k baby bonus sitting in your bank account.
-
A turbo that you can run 20pounds through to push up that mid range and get the car really accelerating quick.
