  1. C34 maintenance is relatively simple and if you are not afraid of some DIY, the major 100,000 Kms servicing of timing belt change, tensioner, idler, water pump, plugs, oils/lubricants, filters oil/fuel/air/cabin, etc will be relatively easy (there are guides on this forum for all these). There is also an engine service manual that can downloaded (in English) for the both the series 1&2 Stageas (r33 and r34 engines respectively). These also have details of maintenance intervals, specs, and procedures. There is also Nissan FAST which is proprietary software that dealers use- you will be able to look up part numbers, see which part numbers are common to other models, decoding your VIN/ options etc. I am somebody will be able to hook you up with this also. From my experience the RB engines are very reliable if serviced regularly, RB30 engines in skylines and VL commodores are known to last well into the 400-600 thousand Km range, before rebuild. I don't see a reason why the RB25DET cannot match or better this lifespan, assuming the engine is looked after well. The most important thing in my eyes is regular oil changes with quality oil. I would be looking locally either for a C34 or M35, but if you after something a little more special like I was, look at importing- despite what people may say, it can be very straight forward with the right import broker. I can recommend Jspec Imports from personal experience but somebody like Iron Chef Imports or Prestige Motorsport will probably be fine. With the depressed auction prices in Japan for these cars, even with the Shitty exchange rate, it makes for some pretty good buying. I hope this answers some of your questions, there is plenty of help at hand here on these forums for what ever question you have.
  2. Yeah, timing belt, tensioner, water pump, etc I know about and get done religiously with All Nissan genuine parts, but it was more the adjustments to the valve train in the head. Is there a recommended km range for preventative maintenance or just when the lifters get noisy? Anybody got a R34 manual they can look up. Solid lifters , didn't know that- just like the GTR engines?
  3. Hi guys, I just wanted to know if the Neo head in my Series 2 Stagea requires any regular maintenance or adjustments to be done? Or are they virtually maintenance free? I don't hear of anybody doing any adjustments or mechanics recommending anything that needs to be done to them at major service intervals etc so am curious.
  4. Sorry haven't got a pic, but looks similar to the R32 GTR wheel except centre piece suits the SRS airbag. If you have a look at the R33 GTR's, that will give an idea of the concept.............
  5. The R32 GTR did come factory fitted with a driver airbag, although very very rare option. I have only ever seen one factory fitted, and I have seen a lot of GTR's.
  6. Absolutely right! From personal experience the RON and quality varies considerably.... I would say anywhere between 100 and 110 depending on the supplier/source and the final mix of propane/butane and who knows what other additives/impurities there are! Yes I have used the claimed Supagas stuff extensively and even that varies by a lot.... LPG fitters and tuners that have been around for a long time will tell you that years ago LPG was much higher octane rating 110+ RON was not uncommon, and you did not have to go to Supagas to get it, BP, shell, mobil, caltex all had it. The problem with LPG is that the quality varies so much and some manufacturers won't even specify it as a minimum RON, as Supagas will not publish thier RON ratings either, but a properly tuned performance motor (especially forced induction) does run better with it.
  7. Sounds like the way I would be doing it too, however you may need to go back to your tuner to optimize the tune between both fuels once your conversion has been done, unless the installers you are using are proficient in tuning as well, most are not and don't have dyno facilities etc.
  8. Check out GLS rallysport, they are a sponsor on here also They have all front and rear series 1 and series 2 pads for Stageas usually in stock DB1399 in QFM 'HPX' , rated to 550 degrees C, Bendix Ultimate equivalent are under $80 a set + freight, I just ordered mine.
  9. I've also noticed I am starting to get this slight shuddering under hard acceleration ...happens from about 50-90 km/hr. Also have a slight noise, much more pronounced when turning out of corners but related to heavy throttle and heavy engine load only...doesn't do it at idle or when engine is revved at idle. Kind of sounds like a wheel bearing noise but not the wheel bearings...CV's ? driveshaft uni's? accessory pulley? water pump? Related to above problem or seperate? I call it the 'Stagea Strange Noise' (SSN) and keep driving.
  10. Yes had -11 at the end so factory gap of 1.1mm regapped to 0.8mm.
  11. We are the superior Series after all.
  12. I have recently purchased some NGK G Power Platinum IX BKR6EGP for my Series 2 Stagea and thought I will share the positive experience (not affiliated in any way with the company). They cost only $10 each (on sale), usually $12 each which is a very good price with nominal shipping charge Australia wide. The Irridium IX NGK's are $14 each which is a very good price (Supercheap, Repco, Bursons can charge anywhere between $18-$25 each for these). The website is www.performancelub.com or email [email protected] They are Melbourne based and even pre-gapped the Platinums to 0.8mm for me at no charge! Now that's service. They also advertise on Ebay sometimes. Also stock a wide variety of good oils as above. Not affiliated in any way, just posting a good experience for all Stagea lovers.
  13. Hi I got Bilsteins with Eibach lowered springs for both the front & back for my Stagea a while ago from Japan (import monster). The front part numbers are; Front Bilstein shocks 1199 BE52590HO Front Eibach springs 6345001 Haven't got the rear numbers handy. I found that I had to cut the bump stops approximately in half to prevent the front shocks from bottoming out due to limited travel with the shorter springs. The springs are about 2 inches (50mm) lowered. All good now, drives much better. I haven't fitted the back shocks and springs yet.
  14. The Shannons car went for $45K! http://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/lot/?id=PAO2C65C9E8N437Y
  15. That is a staggering comparison to what the excellent Vspec 2's were selling for some 18 months ago......I think the average you will pay these days for a similar car (if you locate one) would be much less, the best one I can find in Japan at the moment is in the mid $40's landed, 40,000 kms with books etc, even at the current shitty exchange rate of 76 yen.
  16. Have a look at Shannons up and coming Sydney Auction... AUS delivered R32 GTR in black with 99,000 kms, has been repainted... Expect to sell in range $42K-$50K. Is this realistic? 25th July will tell us. Anybody on here own this car?
  17. Agree with you, that genuine low mileage clean cars in Japan seem to be rising, however some of that is surely the difference in our exchange rate between now and a few years ago prior to the GFC? Current exchange rate about 76 yen to $1AUD July 2007 exchange rate monthly average 105 yen to $1AUD!!!!! July 2008 exchange rate monthly average 102 yen to $1AUD!!!!! This makes a huge difference to potential import cost....20% to 30%+ difference maybe.
  18. That WA car sold a couple of weeks ago...ex BoostWorx owned in WA....was interested in it but had mods that I couldn't see benefitting me now or in 10 years time, including no original BBS wheels, but had claimed log books and service history from Japan.
  19. I have been doing some research into R32 GTR pricing here in Australia and in Japan (thinking about importing maybe) and through my research a few importers have commented that the R32 values already in Australia seem to be cheaper than importing one into the country. Some importers are stating that the price of R32 GTR's in Japan have risen sharply in the last 6-9 months. What do people think about this? and is it time the R32 GTR prices rise in Australia to keep pace? Are we seeing a possible start of an upward valuation swing in Australia for these cars? assuming good condition examples and comparing apples with apples here.... or is it simply supply and demand?
  20. Thanks, the only letter in the model number that doesn't make sense for me is the "N" before the"AA". KBNR32RXFSNAA I can decode all the rest and that seems logical except this one, which I think refers to Options that the car left factory with? That's what I was hoping to get translated, if possible. According to this R32 Chassis VIN Decoder http://www.users.on.net/~goofyhsk/info/chassis_plate.html Does NOT have a "7" 7= GTR or a "8" 8=GTR Vspec II, but is absent?? absent = V spec I. (before the "AA"). It its place it has a letter not a number - "N" may refer to options (but really for GTS's)?? So a little confused. It does have an "X" instead of a "B" before "FS", that tells me that it left factory with standard 16in GTR wheels and not Vspec 17in BBS wheels. KBNR32RXFSNAA It is a 9/92 build.
  21. Can somebody run this one please and translate the options if possible.... BNR32-221470 Thanks.
  22. Looked at the following model number after being "fasted" and was curious what the "N" next to "AA" means? KBNR32RXFSN AA Is this an option of some type that somebody can let me know about??
  23. Yes the car runs very well on straight LPG. Don't be scared of LPG, it is very safe these days and you need a good installer and tuner- preferrably at the one workshop. You can read about my conversion here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Lp...stagea+series+2
  24. Yes only dual fuel is the go with Liquid Injection (LiLPG) as does have it's limitations......... same goes with Vapour Sequential Gas Injection (SGI) systems. The only system for Mono LPG fuel that has been proven is older style conversions. I run the Gas Research system and so do many many RB30 Turbo VL Commodore owners with great success. Some of these Nissan engined VL Commodores are 10 sec machines here in VIC (big horsepower engines)............ I can see that in the future the LiLPG technology will be able to reliably support running mono LPG....until then I'm happy to continue to run the Mono LPG system I have.
