i think the cam gears bring lag times down a bit.. but then again whats lag.. time it takes turbo to start making boost or time it takes from 0psi.. to what ever boost you wanna run? etc.. sydney kid, i have a rb20 silvia. has some stupid diff gears.. 3800, 110 in fth.. or 3500 at 100 in 5th.. lets say i get all the suppport systems, fuel, ecu, fmic etc.. then put a hks 3037 on it.. would a car with the EXACT same mods but a 2835 or similar but with less lag therefore lower power.. beat me weather it be on a highway or drag strip or in roys case... track? -

on the street car 1 would be quicker.. mite lose for a second but i think the power it makes at 6000 - 7000 should make it pass car 2. but on a strip car 1 would have the trophy. -

i know that, but it also depends how you drive, what you want the car for.. the guy who started this thread should of said i wanna use it for drags.. now then i would of said your better off with a smaller turbo so your on boost longer and therefore quicker or going a bigger motor. but he's just said i want 400rwhp witha rb20.. what turbo should i use. im not EXACTLY sure what turbo he should use im just saying a t67 should work alright.. maybe try going gt30.. ??? -

so your saying ditch the rb20's cause they just wont spool a turbo making worth while power? on a highway race (lets say they are legal) your going to drop into 2nd, i think you would have high enough revs to have MR. bloddy big turbo ready. -

apparently lag freee... its a t67 25g.. meant to be perfect match for sr.. sharp ramp of boost at 3500, it made 288rwkw on 1.5bar with 98oct fuel, power fc, blitz injectors (850cc for those interested) 300zx meter, 1.4mm head gasket (this is where a rb20 is good.. low comp.. higher boost!!! IMO) step 3 cams from hks and a tomie solid lifter kit, hks cooler. cool hand luke has a hks t300 and his car makes 300rwkw with boost at about 3500.. seems REALLY strong and cant really notice lag.. although this is sr crap. im sure it wouldnt be too far from a rb20.. alreading having low comp - more boost. -

im trying to find an article.. had a sr20 with t67.. cams, cam gears i think, 1.5bar... power fc i think.. ill post up spool revs, power etc.. then again its a magazine.. it MUST be true. -

yea, those were the reason i was going to state. i know getting 1.5 bar out of a rb with t67 would be a mighty 5k.. but it would rock!! anyway.. why does mtopxsecret6 want 400rwhp? braggin right? want good times? you could get better times with a smaller turbo/less power so think really hard about WHY you need 400rwhp -

what revs would a r32 sit at, at 110 in 5th.. i was under the impression i had 4.3's but i sit at 3800 at 110 in 5th! i dont think a production car would sit up there. -

what about all the srs that have huge turbos on them.. go for something like a t67 but it will require 1.5bar.. see how that goes.. also get cams, cam gears.. fmic, pump, injectors, regulator, exhaust, ecu.. get something like 4.1 or 4.3 diff gears.. keeps you on boost JUST incase.. cant think of anything else atm -
but its a sr..... we are talking about rb's...

dude.. all you have told us is your putting a different turbo rated at lets say 750hp on your car.. we would need to know some exact details like a/r's etc..

i have a rb20det in a siliva.. heaps of camber on the rear.. low n hard.. and if i go from first two second i get no traction what so ever in second and it wil chirp and sometimes with .8bar boost it will kick a bit sideways changing to third... with 1bar it will kick out and spin a lil more but thats with 4.3 diff gears i think.. well at 110 in 5th its about 3800!!!

why not try for something bigger than 200 rwkw.. youll only get use to it.. get fuel pump, regulator, fmic, ecu, exhuast *not in that order* then think about turbo. custom manifold with external wastegate with gt30 or something.. try and make your power on as less boost as possible.. or as bbenny said 2530/2540 would be ideal for a streeter.. prolly hasnt helped at all.. but yea.. do all the basic crap first.. then do ya turbo/ecu last and get it tuned and put on at the same time.. to cut tuning costs down.. if ya get ur ecu youll have to get it tuned if you wanna drive it properly:d then ya decide next month ya want a bigger turbo.. so ya have to get it tuned again.. get my drift..?

i DEMAND you take that back.. :shake: although im in qld.. i dont really care about dyno readings at the moment.. my car is pretty much stock.. 4.3 diff gears and exhaust (std dump) oh and its rb20.. i ran a 14.0 with an apparent 220.5 hp reading (this was with 1.0bar boost) in shootout mode at what i am lead to belive was subzero's dyno.. i know there is a lower time in my car because i used sh*tty tyres, screwed my start up and had axle tramp.. i think the best way is to find your mate with the power on the street and go from there.. but then again its illegal.. so organise something.. meet in the middle of aussie and use rolling starts.. then no one can blame sh*tty starts.. yea well i forget what the whole point of writting something was.. but just because you have all this wonderful power doesnt mean youll run a good time.. maybe a dyno is the only way to tell..
