  1. i get this all the time not just when its cold.. but thanks for the coments im sure itll help. mine just idles like it has big cams in it.. VERY VERY annoying and even makes the car shake a little bit... really pisses me off!!!
  2. mine stalls if i pull the plug??? is that normal.. i put the idle down to 1000rpm today and it stalls like a bitch at every traffic light.. but is alright after a while of sitting there.. i also listened VERY closley and could hear a air leak some where. im pretty sure now that this is my problem just gotta find the air leak..
  3. if anyone knows if the clutch fan will bolt on to rb20det motors and it does.. ill take it..
  4. okay i read that.. but stil dont under stand.. there is a little screw on the side of the idle controller that you can turn.. i have done this and it increases the revs to about 1500 which gets rid of any miss that was there. so for the last 5 hours i been playing round cleaning heaps of shit.. im pretty sure my wires to the coils are a bit burnt out.. by the looks of it.. could cause it.. also the, heaps of my wires have seen better days.. theres potention problem cause right there.. i had my bov off so i decided to reconnect it.. then i turn the car on and there is a loud air leak.. found it to be the pipe that goes into the cross over pipe just before the throttle body.. im not sure exactly where the leak is.. either the t-peice of the hosing.. but im going to replace it all.. turn my idle back down and im pretty sure that this will fix it.. if its not that im guessing my head gasket(long story) is gone or its my ignitor.coil packs are stuffed.
  5. hey guys, just got a question regarding head gaskets, i have a rb20det in a s13, iv gone through two water pumps (one from autobarn and a std one) and just put on a n1 waterpump, replaced the thermostat, bled the cooling system.. thats about it. i cant seem to stop the car from over heating. i have a 12 inch thermo and the std fan for aircon which i just replaced with another 12inchthermo - havent had the proper chance to test that out tho. anyway, on the way home from work the car will over heat sitting in traffic, even looking for a parking space it will over heat.. i try to turn the car off asap and let it cool but sometimes its impossible but i havent let it get to the H yet.. just one or two bars below it.. the other day when i put the other thermo on i had to take my radiator out to get to the mounts etc and when i put new water/coolant in i had a lot of white foamy shit.. i put water in first cause the servo i went to didnt have coolant. iv been told when you get white foam the head gasket could be gone. the car has overheated a fair amount of times cause the water pump broke, thermostat stoped working and cause i was in traffic.. at one stage it overheated at nite while looking in the refidex for 3-5 minutes with the bonnet up. there was a fair bit of white foam but not really any bubbles there doesnt seem to be any water in the oil last time i checked but im still worried that the gasket is ****ed. is there any SURE way to tell without taking it to a mechanic and getting charged a shit load to do so? would a compression test show it.. i know the car had 150psi when i bought it. also would there be water leaking down the side of the block? any help would be great. im about to fit intercooler/tdo6 so i want to know that the motor is in good condition before i put these on. also would the headgasket cause shitty idling? when it idles at round 1000rpm it breaks down and idles like a pig. but when i put the idling up to round 1300-1500 its fine. please help sorry for the long post. thanks guys. :wavey:
  6. cas, afm, 02 sensor, ignitor, tps, idle control.. could be any plus more.. ahh i love my car..
  7. sorta got the same problem, cleaned afm, idle control valve.. going to buy a new o2 sensor on saturday. apparently ef-el ones work.. ill let you know.
  8. i change my plugs usually every 5000 with oil and oil filter.. do you think this is too much?
  9. boostd. just saw you posted 245rwkw on 10psi.. what turbo is this related to may i ask.. im a bit lost with all the talk from the melted cat etc haha. what are the specs of this turbo? thanks mate. and when you say its alright witha .6 exhaust housing on a rb20.. do you have any power figures and spool revs etc? cheers.
  10. whatsisname, this turbo wouldnt be suitable for rb20 would it? i dont care if boost doesnt come on till 3500-4000 at the moment. mite be swapping till rb25 in the future. is the exhaust housing similar to vl turbo? or just a .64 sized t3 off the shelf item? what boost are your running?
  11. hey guys.. very nice car very well looked after.. and damn fast for pretty stocko.. gl with sale mate.
  12. going mod for mod.. the car with the biggest/longest power band would be quicker wouldnt it.. it seems to me going by what everyone says - SR swallows more air with its longer strokes and spools up turbo's quikcer so the sr could bring a same sized turbo on earlier.. but the rb would rev to 8k.. so where does that leave us? buy the one that sounds better :D:D:D:D
  13. yea. post that up here steve.. and i guess they are nittos? what size etc if they are or not.. im interested in knowing about the car too!!!
  14. where abouts is the knock sensor and how do you clean it?

  18. hey guys. how do you check the timing on a rb20? yes i already know you need a timing light.. just where do the two things connect too.. my mate knows how to check rb30.. but we are unsure of rb20.. cheers guys.
  19. zoom were doin a thing on a commo and putting a rb20 in it with 2535.. they say its good for 250rwkw or 260rwkw.. prolly at 1.5 bar.. but i guess.. always pick a turbo that suits you.. hard to tell when not many ppl have these turbos etc.. but if your chasing 250rwkw and want a streetable set up.. id choose the smallest turbo that can produce that amount of power and boost level your happy with etc. but if you get bored.. the bigger turbo comes out better.. to be safe i think the 2835 would be a better choice.. run at 1bar.. be happy for 3-4 months. then turn the wick up and enjoy it more.. but then youd get to as far as you want to push that.. then you should pick the 3037.... oh here we go.. have fun.

  21. 4.3 = 3700-3800 in 5th at 110km or around 3500 at 100km/h in 5th. mite sound like a bit. put your foot down and your on boost in around.0000000003 seconds lol.. so its alright for taking over slower moving cars.. or when you want to race your mate in 5th gear.. lol. but yea.. your looking at higher revs for any given speed in any given gear.. remember that. but i like my 4.3's
