  1. I don't think so - alot of performance and euro cars need 98 fuel. - But you "could be" possibly onto something, one way of masking detonation is to add more ethanol to 95 fuel - Which is crap as this is ethanol has a lower BTU and we are all still paying the same price at the pump
  2. Yeah - I should really get one, just been lazy cause I don't listen to the radio much.
  3. Car: R34 4door - RB25DE - Auto Mods: extractors and high flow cat - everything else stock/genuine. Driving style: Soccer mum Driving conditions: 90% City 10% highway Fuel brand: Shell 98 majority of the time, sometimes Safeway 98 Ltr's for a full tank: 65L (stock tank) KM's per tank: not sure - I always fill up when i reach 1/4 tank. However I can usually do 11.8L per 100KM. BEST consumption: 9.8L/100 (city) and 8.8L/100(highway) WORST consumption: 14.8L/100 (city - I have no idea why?????) 9.2L/100 (highway) Notes: Car has stock rear spoiler and weather shields, which could cause extra drag. 17" GTT wheels are wider than the stock 16" - this can also cause more drag - Tires are inflated to factory spec 36PSI.

    Car Vs House

In all seriousness - House would be number 1 priority, however in saying that a good car is more easier to come by, depending on how much you earn, your current location or still live with the folks, I'd say go for the car. I "assume" most the the people here are fairly young and enjoy going out with friends etc, and a good car can complement this. As crazy as it sounds a good car can open doors / network people, as it is a great "ice breaker" and unfortunately some people judge you by your car. (Think about the good times you have had in your car or the great places you have driven to).

    Car Vs House

Damn - You sure extinguished this thread
  7. Thanks for that - hopefully there will be no problems with interference from LiteFm as it is also at 89.9
  8. Hi all, I'm intending on going to the Coburg Drive-in cinemas (i've never been before), I'm wondering what FM frequencies they broadcast the audio, as my Skyline's stereo is a JDM version. I'm not really keen on listening to the tin can window speakers they provide. Cheers
  9. My first car is a White 1983 Nissan Bluebird - It was given to me (used to be my mum's) - I still drive it till today as my daily. Stock as a roc It is bullet proof - never had a problem with it, just a few rust spots but mechanically A1 and pretty good over all. When the engine finally dies (which could be when the world's petrol finally runs out hehehe), i'll consider doing an sr20 conversion The r34 which i bought is for "occasions", Fridays and when going out to the twisties. I love the comments i get for it like: -nice car -are you a drug dealer? etc....
  10. hmmm - true BUT these camry/corolla drivers don't drive skylines on a side note people that drive European cars in general take the fast lane, and he moment you try to overtake from the left they speed up - wtf is that??? once i lost it and gave them a good look at my stove top tail lights I say right lane hogs are a risk to all drivers as people are forced to overtake from the left
  11. r34 N/A (excluding gt-v models) have twin pot front brakes with sigle pot rears.
  12. R34 gtt has a vvt head like the n/a version. In reply to the "dont think the turbo has an adjustable std intake cam gear."
  13. My r34sedan is Pearl white - QT1 - (3 pearl) - 3 different colours - I read some where it consists of white, off white and silver and pearl. (you may have to google this one as i was looking for touch up paint - which is very hard by the way as it seems to be only available in America :-P ) Closest non pearl paint is Nissan Glacier White apparently Nissan Arctic White is also pretty close. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/To....html&st=20 I've attached some pics of my car showing what QT1 looks like.
  14. If you start seeing cracks it usually means it is due for a change. However in saying this - the timing belt is a rubber part and it will deteriorate, therefore age can sometimes be of more concern as opposed to Ks. So if your car is older than 10 years old and unsure of the history i highly recommend replacing the timing belt for piece of mind. I also recommend this for hoses too.
  15. It doesn't hurt to change the belts a little earlier - You get a little peice of mind and the screeching is likely to go away too. Sometimes it is not the number of Ks the car has done, but the age - as all rubber degrades over time.
  16. My personal opinion, if you are not doing high Ks, stick with petrol. (Technologies and power figures aside) Gas conversion will cost a few grand and don't forget LPG systems also need extra maintenance. It will take you a long time to recover your investment in an LPG system, even if you keep filling your car with 98 premium unleaded. Besides the non-turbo RB 25 engine is fairly economical engine to begin with.
  17. In regards to the screeching belt. I have a strong feeling it is your alternator belt, I had the same problem, it is due to the excessive drain on the battery on cold days, therefore making the alternator harder to spin. Check you tentioners or even replace the belt if it looks worn. In regards to the car stalling (I'm assuming you are applying the brakes when the stalling occurs) - check your brake booster vacum hose (and all other vacum hoses to be on the safe side), there could be a vacum leak or even the brake booster itself. (I had a similar issue in my old Bluebird, however the brake booster diaphram was busted). just remembered - Also check you AFM (seems to be the problem in quite a few scenarios in previous posts) Hope this helps. Cheers
  18. Check for blown fuses. Check your battery connections ensure they are clean, especially the ground wire as it is prone to corrode. Check for alternator belt slip, there could be a problem with charging/keeping constant charge. Since your car is a gtt - check the volt meter, voltage should be around 13V, voltage should not be lower than 12V Hope this helps
  19. In addition to this, ensure your battery terminals are clean and ensure there is sufficient grounding. Also check you vacum hoses for fine cracks as a small vacum leak could also show such problems. Cheers
  20. hehe - I was on Chaps too. Oddly i didn't see your car either, actually i didn't see any R34s at all at Chaps I saw 1 silver '33 GT-R and 2 other '33s
  21. Not a bad idea. Wondering if its OK to meet at Albert Park for the people from the inner suburbs and from the north?
  22. I got my slotted rotors I just now need time to install them I'll let you guys know what i think.
  23. Hi, Just wondering if the TV is sold? Even if the remote is missing are the basic buttons such as volume, station and av on board the TV? Cheers
  24. Personally, I'd wait till you are off your Ps before doing any "major" engine mods. Best to avoid the hassle from the boys in blue. The only change I'd do is put a K&N panel filter - but i'm not sure about the "legality" of this. For now I'd recommend some sort of suspension/braking upgrade to start off.
