  1. I have not been able to find dimensions anywhere for this stupid thing. I really wanna make a template of it and play arround with places it could be made to fit and look right. Same with the Greddy Infometer, i see a million and a half of them or sale with no dimensions. Is their no information arround for the kinda guy who wouldn't waste money on suck items without knowing they could make it fit in a place before hand or plan a layout of several items. In my opionion these items are nothing but mini money pits and lower a cars value unless done right as Nissan does well with their multifunction display unit. I wouldn't mind buying a Nismo MFD but i really dont wanna the head ache this year of hard wiring it into my computer. LxWxH please on one or both of the items and i've gotten annother head ache eased or made worse.
  2. I'm a 19 year old certified welder and working in a show that builds bridges and as a new guy i'm making $20 an hour and just got offered the job of assembling (2 5/8" flange 1/2" web) beams and working the sub arc machine and their gonna pay me $26 soon. I know that if i went up north or into the Alberta oil sands i could make $45 an hour in a heart beat and with my own welding truck $120+. What do trades pay their, I worked with a guy who was offered a job in Australia teaching millwrights as he is an extremely good millwright and he said the pay was like $16 an hour they told him, he could be full of shit and not have gone because he's not certified in anything but does eveything. But what do you fellow trader persons get paid or what could you be getting paid if you choose to do some of thoes shitty high paying jobs theirs never a shortage of, and what are thoes shitty high paying jobs the coffee room is always talking about?
  3. I'm lookin to get me a Profec e01 boost controller seems to me it'll fit perfectly where the ashtray door is with no cutting for the width of it but requires it for height. I lost the dimensions i had but i'd like to get a response to the dimensions of it from a person what looks at one every day. I could care less about screen size, just the LxWxH. Much appreciated.
  4. If your like me and want light go for a low end Kicker 10 or 12 (less weight) and put it in a small sealed box and you'll have more then enough bass for the size speakers your car can fit.
  5. Infinity makes a really funny looking one with what looks like a solid 3 1/2" woofer cone and a tweater in the same little panel mounted beside it. But it's Infinity so it's damn near the best sound quality arround. Rockford Fosgate makes them to. I have yet to find a component set but i'm sure you could take appart the Infinity unit and mount the tweater anywhere. I have all blown speakers so i got a salesman all exited last weekend about getting a sterio installed into an Infamous skyline but he failed to find my car anywhere on their and competators sites so i enjoyed that part.
  6. haha thats the best news i've heard all year. Thank you very much, my biggest headache has now been cured. Now i can confidently order in parts knowing i wont have the pritiest GTS-T inside and outside the engine compartment and it wont be as a garage show peice. Strangely enough, hearing about the e-manage self correcting for injector size (rough tune i soppose but good enough to workoff) is the same day i got offered a better job at work. Greddy E-Manage Blue and Profec e01 boost controller allong with a new battery for my lap top are gonna be on their way in the next month or so. But i have till late April to early May to get it ready and a little more after till the roads are cleared.
  7. Now i'm thinin 18-22psi (22psi as a second boost setting that works in conjunction to a water/metholinjection system). So if the Apexi unit is out of the question then is their any problems with using a Greddy Emanage Ultimate unit with the Profec e01 boost controller i'm ordering. I figure the Profec unit should beable to go really nicely into the spot where the ash try sits and as a data logger and programmer tthe Emaage unit it would be a really sharp setup. Will i beable to even start my car once i've got GTR injectors, a supporting fuel pump and regulator with all new turbo setup or will my computer say "no way"? And once it's started would it be fairly straight forward for me to tune the wir fuel good enough to bring it somewhere? I'd probably need it to be driveable even if it's running way to rich as a respectable tuning shop is no less then 8-10 hours drive away and i dont even know of one off hand. I'm sure i could tune it half descent if i could get it running.
  8. I was thinkin of doing that with one of the new "aluminators" aluminum block 4.6L ford and twin turboing it. Imiagine what it would be like when you punch it at 3000rpm and before it gets to 4000rpm your torque jumps to arround 800 and stays within 50ftlbs of that through the revswith over 1000hp. An R32 to me sorta looks like a 88-93 Mustang but was way nicer and wont twist the car with the stock engine. You just gotta keep in mind that the 5L engine is only good for up to 450hp in good condition but the 4.6 can be pushed to arround 800-1000 absolutely bone stock with the fuel and spark and air to produce that so if you want a high performance machine find a 4.6 out of a 96' + (has to be over 96' or dont bother) and then throw in some 3 or 4 valve a cylinder heads and you'll be ready to suprise a few people. Though if your not going for high hp then a carburated high compression 302 with a rhoudy cam would be really bad ass to hear that carburated rough idleing v8 under the hood. Hell i was thinkgin of doing the opposit some day and matting a r34GTR tranny/transfercase into a 96-03 mustang make it all wheel drive and twin turbo or Kenne Belle (Kenne Bell or nothin) supercharge it so i'd have pretty much the best of both worlds on street tires.
  9. A kangaroo, thats officially the first time i've heard of that. Do thoes things allot of damage when you hit them? I know here if you hit a deer it can come in and kill you and if you hit a moose or bear your dead usally from impact, all of which is a write off except if your lucky hitting the deer. I guy i work with hit a big grey owel and completely f**ked up the front end.
  10. 19 Cerified Welder/Fabricator with 2 years of experience in the shop and out in the field. Love having the ability to do things cheaply that would normally cost allot.
  11. I'm looking at solutions to my problem of getting my rb20det running right at arround mid to high 300hp next year when i install a new plenum, top mount turbo setup with a turbonetic turbo and GTR 444cc injectors, fuel pump and SARD regulator with my own fabed turbo to catback exaust. I'm really interested in how simple the Apexi SAFC looks to be and i'm curious if this would be good enough to tune my engine to run a safe air fuel with 444cc injectors and 14-18psi boost. This would only be what i'd use for next summer and i'm gonna do a full build up with probably a greddy E-manage ultimate or a stand alone computer. This year all i want is a safe air fuel with the setup i want because this year i'm getting all the right bolt ons and want them plumbed and capable of 700hp (with a larger fuel pump then the GTR one i'll use next year) when my engine gets built enough to use the full potential of the Turbonetic turbo. I'm gonna run it at 8psi off the bat and work my way up till i know how to use the unit enough to confidently turn up the wick to 330hp-380hp (no i dont respect the internals). Any knowageable help would be aprreciated.
  12. would that Apexi unit work well with turbo and injector upgrades like to make mid to high 300's? and if you aren't an idiot can you figure out pretty easily how to tune it right. I'm stuck in between a greddy E manage and an Apexi AFC type unit. I think the Apexi unit would be easier for a first time user but i'm unsure of it's capabilities in the real world.
  13. How would that sound? Would it be bad in any way because where i live it's pretty redneck and theirs no air laws and cats. Plus i get bugged about how quiet my car is so i think it would be awsome to finish my exaust to the Catback with all my own fabbed piping and do the external wastgate setup i want like that with just enough piping to get under the car. I'm a full time welder/fabricator and i have allot of time to think about how cheap i could make my own turbo setup (minus exaust and intake manifold) and if this is an acceptable setup in some way thats not damaging i'd do it, plus it would mean i dont need to cope the wategate pipe into the dump pipe i'd make. Any gained performance or is it just to give your car a sleeper sound till it's pinned
  14. Think of the pressures a stock turbo engine is taking with just the stock turbo boost maxed and that the same engine can take allot more with a bigger turbo and no modifications before your left on the side of the road. Guys run arround town with 14.1 comp 454's on pump gas. I dont see why your engine wouldn't take 12.1
  15. Your probably overfueling from having at atmospheric BOV. If you wanna keep it how it is but have it run how it used to you should think about this "Idle Stabalizer" from HKS, wont ruin your car not having it or not having it tuned for the BOV setup but it's a way to correct it with a really simple device. http://www.nengun.com/hks/electronic-idling-stabilizer
  16. will a rb30 crank fit right inside a rb20det and work with existing rods??
  17. Thats an awsome idea. Im wanting to get a dealers licence in the future so i can import cars from Japan or where ever and sell them here. Mostly so i can drive the cars in the stage between making DOT legal and having a buyer. I'd like to have a r33 GTR and make it an ultra high performance (800hp+) car with a getreg 6sp in it and then eventually my dream car the R34 gtr V spec Nur and get 600-800 from it. But we have a 15 year rule so my dream car is no less then 8 years away so buying and selling cars would be a good thing to do to get money to buy myself cars. I absolutely love your idea and would be a worthwhile investment, plus i'd have a hell of a lot of skylines and 240's crusing the roads with the forbidden fruit of the North American auto industry under their hoods whopping big block ass. Not like i'd be owning them it's just knowing my babies are all grown up with big turbo(s) attached bullying unsuspecting cars would be a good thought laying in bed.
  18. 238 wheel hp from an RB30de Man that would feel like such pure untainted power. If i had a non turbo RB30 powered street car it would be in a 280z with thoes old side draft carbs to give that bone chilling scream. I showed my buddy (same one who wants to do the RB30 Jeep) the service manual to my dads old Datsun 2000 because it showed exploded pictures and detailed pictures of the carbs and his jaw dropped at the site of the carbs and where they were mounted. Or a old 86 Corrola with a 13:1 compression carbed RB30de, long tube equal length header with side exaust as a drift car. I think i'm gonna halfto make a stock of thoes blocks over here because i can see allot of fun being made with $300 rb30 blocks on hand.
  19. I wanna get a HKS Gt2835 turbo or a Greddy TD06 turbo kit with the 20g turbo. I tried plugging my BOV and i've seen allot of vids with high end cars without BOV or unplugged ones and they sound insanely good (key word: HKS Skyline) even in a stock rb20det it sounds good. Would it be all that bad to run a nice turbo at 24psi or a bit more without a BOV?? I plan on up-grading the turbo more then the 20g in the kit and i'd just buy the Greddy kit to have nice headers with a TD06 flange and the exaust work done. I'm not looking for reliability for the next 5 years, aslong as it hits hard, doesn't hesitate allot, and the turbo wont explode when i let off i'd do it. I can't find a BOV i really like (HKS SSQV, or Greddy Type S maybe) but i could live with compressor surge. I thought changing gears by open windows was kool with a BOV but with 24psi of compressor surge would be pretty much the ultimate in intimidation and making pretty girls hot.
  20. T25 is what the GTS-T with the RB20det came with. If your looking for a turbo to replace the stock you might as well find a t28 from a newer model or check out HKS's stock and get a really nice upgrade. Im' looking at a HKS gt2830 turbo for my car. That turbo, fuel, ignition, and computer upgrades would make a mean drift machine.
  21. Never payed attention to how much my car takes but i've gotten almost 300km to a tank but usally arround 210-280 depending on how i drive and i've used up arround 1/4 of a tank hauling ass to work in 15 minutes or a little less, all i know is that i had to ease off a little 3/4 the way their because i saw the exaust temp light on (take that you sorry ass excuse for a turbo).
  22. We've never had a vehical sold here with a RB engine in it. But we do have: internet, credit cards, welders, tourches (gas hatchet), and rednecks to get an RB powered machine. I almost wanna throw a garret gt28r turbo on it to make the build worth while and out do the v8's on the way to the trails and down gravel roads. I think i'd probably need to build my own front axle so the front drive shaft would fit and narrow a Ford 9" for an indestructable rear end. More or less it would cost quite a bit to do right and for no real advantage other then haveing a turbo offroad truck thats a 9500rpm turbo charged machine compared to a 4000rpm turbo deisel. If i wanted a build that made sense i'd just stroke a 302 to a 347 and have a no effort 300hp 400ftlb with some long tube headers and glass packs (Prince George exaust, haha) to show the ear drums who's boss. O yea i'd be using glass packs (cherry bombs) for my mufflers with as little bends as possible. Has anyone heard an RB engine with a $20 glass pack? Dont worry, my real car has a HKS Super Dragger exaust incase you just shit your pants at the words "$20 glass pack" in a Skyline forum. I would laugh so hard seeing any nice car (unless it's got a v8 which beggs fora cherry bomb) pull up with the big red open muffler sticking out the back.
  23. Me and my buddy were talking trucks when we got thinking about how cool it would be to build a mid 80's Jeep with a 6" lift 35"x12.5"s. But for the powerplant having a well built rb30de with high compression and a bit of head work matted to a GTR 5sp. What sorta reliable power could you get out of an rb30de on 91 octane pump gas and has many people tried this engine swap before? Also. Is their a stroker kit for the RB30de engine?
  24. The only people who are gonna pay $1000 are the people who souldn't touch a tool. I think the only good thing about the laws in place is that it forces everyone into modifying their cars in some way and it'll be neat in the next few years to see how people make these restrictions, well not the lazy way but the really good looking clean setups.
  25. DOT R32 lighing kit http://www.getjdmcars.com/catalog/index.ph...2f42d50ba932f6d start lining up to spend $1000 on $200 of equipment. But get a cheap car from Japan add that to yuor costs and have a car that'll got hrough with no bull shit. I think i just need lighting because i looked at all the lines in my car and their all DOT allong with all the glass i soppose the last owner had to pass slacker laws because thatd be allot of bullshit to do everythign at once. I might as well order me a Caterham and a gt35R if i wanted to build an entire car from the ground up.
