  1. I read in a motor magazine, which had an interview with Gibson M/Sport, that the R32 GTR's were sent across from Japan with fully race-prepped Nismo motors. I'll try find the article and post it up....
  2. Mr Samo - the J-Spec GTR's actually produced less power than the Gibson Motorsport GTR's. When Gibson order the GTR's, they cam race prepped with 500hp Nismo motors etc, and Gibson played with them and bumped them to 600hp. Gibson Motorsport were invited to compete in Japan with their GTR's (against other tuner GTR's), however Nismo told them not to come as they would annihilate the competition.
  3. I havnt read any of the comments in this thread and i cbf. My simple answer is don't buy an R32, they are getting too old now. Maybe an R33 that has been taken care of properly in stock condition or even an R34. But one thing is for sure, whatever you are looking at buying, make sure you take your time, test-drive a fair few so you know how they perform and IF you do buy one, to save yourself some potential heartache, get a mechanic to put it on a hoist and check out every nook and cranny for possible shoddy work, rust, damage etc.
  4. Just find someone with a standard R34 GTT blow-off-valve and put it on to pass the inspection/emmissions test. The standard blow-off valves "recirculate" the air back into the intake instead of venting it to the atmosphere, therefore not releasing any potentially harmful gasses into the atmosphere (in the eyes of the law); although you exhaust releases a lot more =\
  5. +1 for timing. Also clean out the throttle body with some carby cleaner.
  6. Try Yahoo Japan or Yahoo Auctions? That may help.... You could also try www.nengun.com
  7. When it comes to car clubs and "hill climbs", are we talking legally organised runs through car clubs with closed roads? Or are we talking midnight Mundaring Weir Road runs?
  8. You have to like the sound of your car though
  9. My R34 had the exact same thing as the guy above ^^^. Did fark all, i just cut up the original muffler and my R34 sounded like a jet fighter when it came on boost muahahahah
  10. When it comes to servicing and general maintenance of your Skyline, the use of generic parts such as Ryco oil filters, Castrol/Mobil/Shell oils are fine. When you hear other people saying "I use Royal Purple and Motul oils in my Skylines and it performs better", don't bother wasting your money on those 'high-end' parts. You only need to use the top-end oils if your running a high-hp motor. Just keep up to date with your servicing....gearbox and diff oil - as long as it is replaced once, then it's fine. Change your engine oil every 5000-8000kms and the filter each time. Spark plugs, every 10,000kms. When it comes to modifying the car, that is where you spend the money and get proper Jap performance parts. Don't go cheap on mods or you'll regret it
  11. Why don't you buy a HSV GTS Coupe or go for a VS HSV GTS-R? They both have the tuned Calloway 5.7 motors and they go farking hard. Nothing beats the sound of a tuned V8, not even a high hp, high revving RB26.
  12. The 1996 model R33's (Series 2's) have a different front end - the headlights are clear and they indicators are mounted in a case in the front bar along with the fog-lights. The Series 2's front ends are much more square than the Ser 1-1.5's.....i personally think they look a lot better too, The 1996 Series 2 also came with the steering wheel pictured above, ABS and the driver+passenger airbag. If you are looking for a 1996+ R33 Skyline non-turbo, then the interior will be practically exactly the same minus the factory boost gauge on the dash. Look around on carsales.com.au. Going by the current price of $10K for a really plum R33 Series 2 turbo, then $6K should get you an un-molested R33 Series 2 non-turbo with low kays. Just be careful of all the piece of shit R33's out there and take you time looking around before you buy.
  13. We own 7 Monaro's in our family. A HG 350GTS 4spd manual, 2xHG 308 GTS 4spd's, a HT 308 GTS 4spd, a HT 350 Bathurst and 2 wrecks for spare parts My dad brought his HG 308 gts in 1981 for $2000
  14. Is the R31 running? ill take it to the pines and make it stop running for you hahaha
  15. They also placed DNF on hold due to a lawsuit that was and is(?) still going on.
  16. Buy a 1970 HG 350 GTS Monaro, probably slower than a stock r34 gtt but you will pull lots a bewbs in an old skewl monaro
  17. I beg to differ. If you have a Monaro with some mild mods such as an intake and exhaust VS a modded R34 (exhaust, intake, boost, FMIC, computer system, tune), the Monaro and the Skyline would be very much on par in all areas. If you had both on a track, the Monaro would be faster down the 1/4 mile, and around a racetrack, the Monaro and Skyline would be very closely matched. Remember, a very lightly modded Monaro (with a free-flowing exhaust and intake) would be making somewhere in the vicinity of 350rwhp, whereas a mildly modded R34 (as above) would be making 250-280rwhp. The monaro has a shitload more torque thanks to a larger capacity motor and of course the 2 extra cyliners. Obviously if you drive both, you will notice the difference, as the Monaro isn't exactly a light car (weighing in somewhere around the 1600kg mark), and the R34 is around the ~1450kg mark. At the end of the day it's personal choice. Go drive a Monaro and take your time to think about it. Buy what you prefer to drive, buy what you will enjoy to drive more...don't impulse buy or you will regret it.
  18. The only car i know of that you can feel the wind resistance when driving at freeway speeds is my dad's old 1988 Suzuki Sierra. It's a bloody red metal box with 4 wheels and a 66hp 1.3L carby 4cyl. Mind you, if you're doing 100km/h and there is s slight crosswind, that thing will just tip over haha
  19. So many people de-cat their imports....i just had the standard cat in there, unbloted it, bashed the guts of the car out with a screwdriver and put the cat back in. Made massive flames, like 2m long bright orange flames lol
  20. What ^ said is correct, however you will only be able to drive on your SA licence withing VIC for a certain period of time. Contact VICRoads and just make a general enquiry, phone number is 13 11 71
  21. Even though you incurred the fine on your NSW licence whilst in VIC, and now you have a VIC licence, if you don't pay it you will be chased and possibly have your VIC licence placed under a fines suspension. So in other words, don't be a tool and pay it
  22. Yeah just be aware that owning a turbo/performance car; the rear will always be covered in black soot
  23. I know that in WA it's basically buyer beware. If you buy a lemon at a private sale, that's your problem, not the buyer's. You only get the mandatory 3month warranty if you buy a 2nd hand car from a dealer.
  24. When you wash your car, simply use some hot soapy water and an old rag to wash most of it off, then use some car polish on that area of the bumper and the next time it should simply wipe off, but you have to keep applying polish to the bumper every time you wash it. It worked on my 33
