  1. Hha this is exactly what im on about and why i wanted to stroke my 34 rather than buy a GT-R... Any old tom dick or harry with the money can buy a GT-R (and lets face it, they arnt THAT expensive for what you get that is true) but i'd rather spend the time building my car from the ground up knowing everything that goes in....the time the labour the parts pretty much the blood sweat and tears to get a greater self satisfaction out of driving it ont he road later. Yeh this option comes with more highs and lows considering when you crash and things go wrong you tend to pay harder than anyone else. But people choose this option exactly because of that, you learn new things, your car grows in character over time and you meet new people in the industry. Simply put, by the time my car is finished and is at the outcome i want it to be at, it will be faster, stop harder and look better than the majority of GT-R owners out here in oz. My wide bodykit is now completed and i am going to pick up my car to send to get painted now once this is all finished its time to shove those 6 piston Project Mu brake kit up front and 4 pistons rear kit...redo the suspension put in my GT-R MFD and then look at whos going to build my engine. For those who understand what i mean there would be no argument....for those who don't...and say youll always want the GT-R over a GTS-T/GTT etc etc....it comes down to time/preference/mullaaaah $$$. Most would be satisfied with a GT-R, im not...And i could have bought a GT-R but whats the point if you are going to rebuild/replace everything in it anyhow?? It just becomes virtually a rolling shell. And yes i like both RWD and AWD...no bias against that..its just optioned...can easily make a GTT AWD....
  2. Anything generally 18"+ clears 6 piston brake kits...your current offset and tire choice would help that clearance too. I am putting 6 piston front kit on with 355mm rotors and it will clear the front 18" rims i have on my car...thing the fronts are 245 width or something like that...would depend on the rim shape and design aswell i guess....
  3. Looks practically like a Z-Tune bonnet to me...didn't pay much attention to it though... And anyone doing the GT-R conversion thing....god bless you cause your gonna need it! Trust me from experience
  4. Got the fold out display for GTT mine works absolutely fine and is running. I havnt fiddled with it...only cd's work but im sure with rewiring and meddlign everything else works...audio on channel 7 even works lol! I am fitting a 2001 GT-R MFD to my center dash so im not gonna need this screen and most likely the wiring aswell...does anyone know how much the thing costs to sell? If anyone is interested in naming a price and maybe wants it? Once i install the MFD im not exactly sure wether is hould get a new interface for CD/DVD considering all those buttons you see become quite redundant other than the cd input... Anyone recon you can put guages there and flush it up if i remove the facia there?
  5. Let me know the engineer now!!! i wanan get mine done..but by the soudns of it theres no point regardless...but might aswell ask...let me know
  6. Have vented 34 Bonnet, what condition is your one in? I have a Trial Style vented one with 3 vents overall like on some 32's etc. Brand new unpainted, was going to put on but did GT-R bonnet swap...Ill try and get pics but its at panel shop right now if you are interested if you dont mind sending me some pics of yours might be able to arrange something...
  7. Hey btw what tire size is ians new 18" going on? :S didnt check when he came by here...
  8. Lol at the time posted haha, you got to tell me that engineer!!! i need one for my hood too...soo gay
  9. That supercharging and stroking thing done by Cara? lol thats totally different...im still going for a turbo set up...and rebuild means rebuild...wont be a DE anymore...Shes using the RB25DE though.. :S so see how her efforts go anyhow.
  10. Haha theres i see i stired upa bit of a debate here onto why i dont just get a GT-R? I mean i could say the same to GT-R boys and go why not JUST get the R35 GT-R instead of the 34...i mean what is good value for money to some of you people is totaly diferent to others. I have thought about geting a GT-R 34 before...man i have even thought of just geting a 32 and rebuilding everything... EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT GETTING AN XR6 TURBO (yucccck) But hey...i like my car and yes i have grown quite attached to the N/A car i have, But i would probably buy a RB25DET froma 34 and whack it in if i was to do the rebuild i mean when you are fully rebuilding the engine the RB25DE isnt gonna be much different from a RB25DET in terms of everything you change. Personally for the guy that asked about why not just getting a VL RB30 block, yes i thought about this too...seems great 3.0L botom end for a few hundred bucks and rebuild it...but as i have asked on here before, no one can apparently engineer them into 34's, but then again what cop can see the block of the motor? Its debateable into how risky you want to go in terms of road laws. Im looking into the 2.8L idea because engineering wise and time wise i dont have to find any engine which i do look for...i dont have to kep trying to get approved rwc's and stuff like that for swapping engines. I even looked at getting an RB26DETT full engine... I mean its comming down to the sharp edge of the knife and i will have to do something with my engine because this is my passion (unfortunately you could say) and its a costly one with Skylines. I can go the cheap way and have problems with cops and stuff later but have great performance, or i can have paid my dues with high priced parts and have my car legally running (as legal as possible), and feel comfortable driving around knowing im not going to get hassled too much. The 2.8L idea is just a strong idea on my list i havnt done it yet, i mean i check all my options i dont wanan look back and go hey i coulda done this instead of this. And any rebuild is going to cost more than a GT-R if your looking for serious power..im looking for 400RwKw and anything more is a bonus. (originally wanted 500RwKw but realised how ridiculous that is for the roads, well even 400 is sorta nuts but thats me.) For all those GT-R guys out there saying buy a GT-R....sell my N/A car for me for a reasonable price and find me one...All i know is when i am done doing my brakes suspension and engine, your 34 GT-R's will be outdating slowly...wearing down lik everything else and my car will be a fresh engine with all new parts all round, and im sure ill give you a guys a good run where ill be watching you in my rear view mirrors Thanks for all the guys that helped out, and i shoulda mentioned to the guys that said just get a GT-R that that was an obvious thought along time ago....but thanks to those guys anyhow that took the time to reply, im gonan check those power figures in the links.
  11. Hey all, Been searching the threads and (i must be shit at searching em) but i can't seem to find anything on the RB28 stroker kit (Tomei/HKS) kits for the GT-R. I recently read that the Tomei 2.8L kit is compatible with the RB25DET NEO engines and just wished to know if anyone has done this set up or knows what type of power the engine can hold once this is done? I was thinking of doing the old 25/26 top end 30 bottom end but found engineering to be a problem with that and i dont want to get majorly defected and screwed for the engine. So looking at trying to keep current parts and engine in and keep it as legal as possible in that respect. How do the RB25blocks hold with those kits? What power can you make with certain turbo set ups and the rest...if you can bore and stroke the engine to 2.8L like the RB26 does that mean you can make similar power figures aswell? Only option i got now is to either buy a RB26DETT and build it and engineer it or buy this 2.8L stroker and build my engine or get a RB25DET (since my engine is RB25DE) and engineer that with no problems before storking it. If anyone can point me to the right links, or answers even PM me i would greatly appreciate it. Just need those few things cleared up so i can actually look at buying one and start building my engine already!
  12. I know this topic has been dead for sometime but i have both a GTT FRP vented hood non ADR approved (of my knowledge) and now recently a Z-Tune style GT-R bonnet CF...along with my standard alluminium GTT hood for my 2 door R34. I just wanted to know the process of the minor defect system, i mean i dont mind swapping back to my normal hood since i know i will get pulled over with this one and i paid for it already so im sort of looking for ways to "sneak" by the system you could say. If anyone has been defected for hoods etc is it the same as exhausts? Once they check and your fine can you just chuck your CF/FRP hood back on until the next tiem they check you out?...If someone could PM me on the mater it would be awesome, thanks.
  13. You have a better chance of not putting up the P plates and driving without them, that way if you dont attract too much attention from the po po, but if you get caught/pulled over your gonna get busted up badly regardless of having you p plates displayed or not. Last R32 GT-R P plater i saw was over a year or so back on Green's and got screwed over so hard by the high way patrol it wasnt funny...think he even lost his licence when i asked him what was happening. You can get away with it, its not like cops go hey lets look for p platers in GT-R's...but then again if your at a set of lights and they see you or you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time be prepared for the worst...
  14. PM sent, just a few questions, awaiting reply
  15. Was built for a customer off the Enzo platform, he had that much money that he went back and asked Ferrari for permission to restyle it for him with some other makers to resemble the older Ferrari's that he loved. Personally think it looks shit, but respect for how much work would have to go into that to transform it into what it is.
  16. this engine def need a rebuild, forgies, the works and a HKS T62R...that turbo on it is too small lol
  17. That is soo gay, those plates are awesome, hopefully he finds em, im sure everyone will keep a look out for those plates. But the fact that it was ripped from the bolts suggests either that someone just wanted them to keep personally rather than put on a car, so i doubt any of us would see them again. Anyhow anyone that takes 500 bucks from you is gay too shouldn't need to pay someone to tell them they found your plates that were stolen off you to begin with. Hope you can get them remade and sent out if you dont see the originals floating around. Ill keep an eye out and tell my mates too.
  18. With AWD lauch it still had to go easy off the line, it completely bogged down, you can see the point in which boost kicks in not to mention him putting his foot down, you cant mistake that lambo noise for anything else...But im a Ferrari boy anyhow so would rather see an F430 launch the quarter with twin turbo's that would be awesome! I recon with some tuning and a good tire set up on the lambo it would pull harder at lauche etc...i mean he really backed off at the start which suggests either it has shitloads of power bottom - mid end or he doesnt have the greatest set of tires on his car:)
  19. Is the 34 GTT brake kit Brembo too? Is it possible to fit up the 33 GT-R brembo's to a 2 door 34 non turbo with some custom work? I guess ill PM you anyhow cause im after a big kit...
  20. Mate sadly with insurance ocmpanies realising that the whole parents name thing is a sham and that the kids are driving the cars most of the time, the insurance covers the cost of the lowest age driver, therefore if you really do drive that car insurance qoute of 3600 covers that cost for them. I paid something like that in my first year in my name and after i fked up my car my insurance went through the roof!!!! i was paying something like 5000 for one year...and i shat myself. thats the lesson you get though, its gradually fallign im around 2500-3000 now like mentioned in the above post, hopefully it drops soon since i have had a clean record/age increase/getting off p's. Try Ansfa (however you spell it) they give you better agreed value etc etc than AAMI just car blah blah, (just car is the worst for p platers) Try them, you should drop to around 3000 id say.
  21. F**K i pay as much as the start up thread and im 20 with a non turbo 2 door 34....hahaa so so sad... Hoping it drops when i turn 21 near mid this year and get of p's early next year, should help but i definately cant wait till im 25 lol
  22. Sparkplugs, injectors, valve springs, plenum, oil cooler, tranny cooler, SURGE TANK!!!!!!! Guess it depends how far you want to go and what power your making, the suspension is a good idea to get a good response out of the power your making and depending on what power your making a surge could help sort out niggles in the process, valve springs will help with the surging aswell i guess. Why don't you rebuild your engine now?
  23. XR6T has the power and the fun in it...can get them for 15K 2004 model, not so great on the eyes and everyone has em but in terms of performance with a few minor mods, they go hard. But you want something sexy lookin for your budget, Why not get a dealer used 350z or a private one and then get a supercharger kit for it Or a R34 GT-T with sme tasteful mods. for under 30K. Or a Evolution 7/8, awd, clean, has some power, can be modded, not too big. I guess personally if you didn't want the 34 GT-R i would get myself a Evolution 6/7/8 But i wouldnt get a 32 GT-R or a 33 considering i will always look back and go i could have a 34 right...but if you waited a lil while longer once the 35's come out into play a bit more the 34's might drop a few more k and probably see them around 35K later this year early next year.
  24. YOU LET ME DRIVE YOUR CAR!! I wasnt scared! hahaa. Although i did drive it fairly carefully, considering it was a "1/4 mile sorta careful drive" with ian checking for popo lmao....is funny when i look back at it haha. That being said my mum never touches my car she has driven it once and its a non turbo! and she still shat herself. My dad drives my car but im even tight with him in how he changes since he brakes harder than me and changes gears like its going out of fashion. Most of my mates have high powered cars...(over 250RwKw) and so when they wanna drive my car i know its not cause they wanna have some "fun" or test it out, it will either be cause their cars are getting fixed and they want to borrow mine or we our out one night and they take my car for a laugh instead of theirs. They drive fairly hard but in respects to how i drive it (when i try to) they are like my dad, fairly easy going. That and the fact that friend or not they all know if you fk it up you pay for it, doesn't matter if your my closest mate! I even told my gf once when i taught her how to drive a little that if she fked it up i would make her pay! Not in cash! I still made her pay even though she drove it absolutlely fine...
  25. If anyone knows where you can get the whole MFD (with casing etc) will buy it off you...or from Nissan itself lmaa i really dont mind spending the money its better than going aftermarket and getting an Alpine screen for example which costs a shitload and doesnt even fit the factory center console on my GT...
