Compression ratios and cylinder pressures are not synonymous. You can have 2 identical engines with identical comp ratios, identical ignition timing, identical cylinder and valve seat wear, identical fuel RON and yet have totally different cylinder pressures. Alter the valve overlap (valve timing) either by adj cam gears or lobe profiles and cylinder pressures start to alter considerably. Drag racers dial compression in or out of their engines using this method as one of many.

Rhys makes a good point cause IMO they are sneaking under the radar and getting off way too lightly (please don't mention names of the insurer). Unless the issue is with the extra painting, which was instigated by the customer and not the actual repairs, which are the responsibility of the insurer.
