  1. I think most people will agree that a gearbox is like a clutch. It really depends how you treat it. So far iv'e had no problems with a stock 5 speed box and similar power levels. However, when I take the car to the track it may be a different story. I know the stock boxes tend to let go in 3rd but sometimes this can be attributed to harsh clutches and particular brands. I am also interested in feedback from people using these aftermarket gearsets.
  2. Thanks for the advise guys. Yes I have done some simple upgrades like pads and fluids. For the street and some windy hills they work a treat. I've had a couple of bad experiences (when I was younger!) with brakes overheating at high speed. Its not a great feeling at 200+km, having brakes heat up and not work. The corners come up much faster than you would like. I've seen this Brembo packaged adverdised. The price looks respectable (for decent track brakes) but i havn't heard much about them. Size is good, 380 front and 355 rear. 8 piston front and 4 piston rear. It would be nice to keep a set of brembo's on the car. Does anyone have any experience with this setup?
  3. Howz this for an old girl. My first skyline.
  4. My first car was a C210. I never had any real problems with overheating (Even with ac). Unless your running heaps of compression I would have the stock one reconditioned. It you find the right workshop, they will put a better core in it!
  5. I've brought 3k items before and never been questioned. I guess its a bit like playing the lotto! Hope your not in a hurry though!!! They have the best business ever. Get your money. Place the order with their supplier, then wait a few months for them to make it. In the meantime making intrest on your money!!!
  6. Thats great work! What are they made from?
  7. Hey guys, great to see this topic actually took off. I was after some proper advise. Thank-you all. A few months ago I knew nothing about brake upgrades for GTR's. Although no-one actually said it, I agree that stock Brembo's are more than adequate for the street. However, I am building a car that will be used for the ocassional track day. I can't think of anything worse than running out of stopping power at 300 clicks. I have seen some interesting upgrades available, including the alcon's and a neat brembo kit from UA. Harrop's seem to be the ultimate, but i've also been told not to go with a brake disc larger than 365 MM at the front. Wheels will most likely be 18 inch LM GT4's. Any advise will always welcome.
  8. I'm pretty sure it would be a H1. Iv'e got a R33 and did the same conversion with a HID kit. I'm certain it won't be H3 as these globes are only ever used for high beam. If you can dig up some pics of the lighting assembly (from your model car) have a look at the globes. H1's are a small globe with a single terminal for the positive wire.
  9. Brake Cleaner, antisqueal springs replaced.
  10. Don't worry too much about engine internals. The cops wont start pulling your engine apart. Emissions testing concentrates on the tune of the car. eg. stock ecu, camshafts and fuel system. If your going to mod the exhaust, get it to flow but still be quiet. Think about the neighbors when you leave for work in the morning. Their the ones who will dob you in for being a hoon.
  11. Lucky its just an exhaust epa. Funny thing is, a stock GTR won't pass a noise emission test. The government changed the rules a few years ago. Instead of testing cars at 3000rpm they moved it up to around 5200rpm for GTR's. A stock GTR wont pass. My advise. Get a stock exhaust and put as many baffles in it as you can. (PS. Steel wool doesn't stay where you want it).
  12. Nice work guys. Its good to see a bit of R & D on this topic. Great photo's too. I have also installed a good quality set of HID's from Germany. Although the halogen lens/relector assemblies are not ideal for HID, they are still heaps better than the original setup. What you really need is a free form reflector that is designed for HID. (Like the ones on new cars where you can see the bulbs). Some of the earlier HID's also use a projector type setup (like the series 3 R33's). Also all OEM's have to fit self leveling systems to their headlight assemblies and washers for the lenses. This is because HID light is highly sensitive to vibration and anything that gets in its way. (Causing the light to splay around all over the place). Having said that though, anything is better than the original H1 halogens. Just be careful guys. Two days after putting mine in I got pulled over by the cops and kindly asked to make a trip for a full EPA test. Not fun. I know it wasn't the lights but I think it was a bit like the fly and a bug zapper type scenario.
  13. I'm a bit confused guys. A few guys tell me there's no difference between stock RB26 cams and N1 spec engines. However, I have found some website's that state that the N1 engines also had revised cam profiles with slightly more lift. Can anyone shed some light on this one? Maybe provide specs? Help would be appreciated.
