  1. That's not a farmer's walk! My girlfriend does that after a day at Chadstone. Farmer's walk should be so heavy it threatens to (and does) rip your callouses off.
  2. Nah you won't. I've never done curls and if anything my arms have made the most noticiable gains. Remember they're used in all pulling and pushing motions.
  3. If curls are hurting just don't do them. As for SLDLs and bent over rows, just make sure lower back is straight and your head is up. Also you can bend your knees slightly if you like, I'm pretty inflexible too and find it helps.
  4. Do grip strength excersies, mixed grip or hook grip. Gloves will be hindering your grip too. I personally use hook grip which can be painful if you're not used to it. Also, you should do deadlifts first on back day.
  5. If his goal is general fitness, why would he NOT do squats and deadlifts? I can't think of anything better.
  6. lol you will when it gets heavy.
  7. Do them in order. Squats are by far the most taxing excerise, you'll want all the energy you can get. I'd honestly replace curls with pulls up, it'll still hit your biceps, and help further with the curling chest.
  8. Fair enough. Lauren has always told me no matter how big I get, she stills knows deep down I'm still a dork. And yes, that is Jett. lol.
  9. Also, who cares what the missus says. When I started dating Lauren I was 55kg, now I'm aiming for 80kg. She claimed she hated muscles and didn't want me to get past 60!, but now she thinks I look great. Just healthier and fitter, plus I finally weigh more than her which always bothered her.
  10. Build the rack outside! If you've got a bit of cover, just make sure the metal won't rust, or that's its cheap and easy enough to replace. If you're curling, your pecs will look exagerated. Once you work on your back a bit it will pull your shoulders back to give you broader shoulders, it will also give the illusion of a bigger chest, but the pecs won't be so swollen. Do you know what I mean? I'm not sure if that's what you want. You don't have to aim for those goals, but remember they're one rep maxes. He's not saying do 3 sets of 8 at 100kg. You should easily be able to do a 1rep 100kg bench at 80kg if you train and have decent bf %. If you're not aiming for 1rep maxes just choose a bench weight and # of reps, then adjust deadlift and squat weights accordingly. I'd recommend against doing 15 reps for your legs, simply because they're so weak (no offense, mine are too). Doing 10 reps till your body adapts and you perfect technique is great, then 5x5 for strength (not mass!), then cycle so you don't plateau. Here's what I mean by strength, not mass: That's Max, not the best lift to show, but everything else is from behind. He can bench 140kg, squat nearly 200kg and deadlift over 200kg. He doesn't look like a bodybuilder. He's also a bit shorter than 6'@80kg, so you could get heavier than him before looking like that. Edit: Just realised he's 74kg in that video (80kg now), probably what you or I would look like at 80kg.
  11. Ever considered building a power rack? You can buy one for $1000+, or build one yourself for $100 in materials. It will make lifts such as squats easier and much safer. I know I'm not the kind of guy most would take advice from when it comes to weight lifting, but for the last 4 months I've been training at PTC, learnt tons and gained 10+kg. If you don't know PTC members (only about 100) hold 44 world records and more than 70 national. They focus on strength and conditioning, you'd be surprised how small some of the strongest guys look. They have a very athletic build yet lift big numbers: 250kg deadlift, 200kg squat and 150kg bench at ~80kg. Having said that, if you can find a safe way to squat I'd recommend doing PTC's beginner routine. Yes, you will get bigger, but as you know it takes a lot of effort to get huge. It's just an excellent routine for developing basic, practical strength. You can do cardio on off days, weekends or after if you like. A guy came into PTC recently with a curling chest/shoulder issue from overtraining the chest. Markos (the owner and trainer) basically told him for every pushing motion he does he has to do two pulling motions. Bent over rows, pull ups, deadlifts, etc. He warned the guy that curling will eventually result in an injury (possibly what happened to you). Bench does work shoulders, but primarily the front delts, not the side or the rear which is why overhead press is so good. http://ausbb.com/str...rs-program.html It's a HARD routine. No one likes to squat, let alone 3x per week, but it gets excellent results. Also, you should start a build thread Edit: If you can't squats safely, just do lunges, good mornings, stiff leg deadlifts, deadlifts and front squats (with as much weight as you can clean) instead.
  12. Had my first amateur 3 lift comp today. It involves proper equipment, refs, spotters and loaders, but no classes or prizes. It's mostly for PBs and practice for serious competitors. I managed: Squat: 75kg, 80kg and 85kg. A PB of 5kg. Felt I could gave done more though. Bench: 60kg, 65kg - I racked the weight before the rack command so whilst I made the weight it didnt count. 65 felt easy so I tried for 72.5kg which I missed. I reckon I could do it press and go, but the pause killed me. Deadlift: 115kg, 125kg, 135kg. PB of 12.5kg! Despite being the weakest guy there I had a blast, would recommend it to anyone.
  13. Nice job man! I've always wanted to do something like this, but I know I don't have the patience let alone the skills to do it. Looks too good to drift now.
  14. What are everyone's goals for the coming year? By this time next year what do you want to have achieved? I would like to be 85kg or more (+13kg), benched at least 100kg, squatted at least 140kg and deadlifted at least 180kg.
  15. It wasnt a salesman that said that, it was an online review. Most likely at the time it was written it was the quickest. As for the Focus we weren't doing anything wrong, how do you get applying the brakes gently wrong? it's ironic because of all the cars we test drove the Focus was by far the worst, and every Kia we looked at was immaculate. We test drove 3 different ones and looked at dozens.
  16. Apparently the glitches only occur on early model PS3s. A mate of mine had his game ruined because of it, he noe hates the game.
  17. As you're wandering around watch your navigation bar, if you see any odd symbols turn up (or a standing stone), head towards it and check it out.
  18. Find the steed stone. Unless you're actively working on increasing skills, its the best stone in the game IMO. It makes armor you're wearing weigh nothing (daedric is like 200 by itself), allows you to run like you're wearing nothing, and grants you an extra 100 inventory.
  19. For day to day driving it was fine. We didn't push it on the test drive. In fact the only car we didn't like in that regard was the Focus which at the slightest pressure would brake so hard it'd often activate ABS.
  20. A little while back I posted a thread asking for help about my girlfriend buying a new hatchback. We've test driven a heap, and we've decided upon the Kia Cerato for the following reasons: Its very good looking (for a hatch). Its cheap: $19,000 for the base or $23,000 for the top of the range (we'll be getting the top of the range). 6 spd auto gearbox - most hatches had a 4spd and didn't feel as smooth, plus they revved quite a bit higher when doing 100kph. Most powerful car of its class, AND its still more efficient than most with the same sized engine - it was very zippy. 5 year unlimited km warranty. Interior was simple, neat and the backseats folded down cleverly to provide a huge space for such a small car. I honestly loved the car. We test drove quite a few: the Lancer, Impreza, Focus, Cruze, Corolla, etc. It was the best looking of the bunch, drove better than the rest and its so much cheaper! The only concern is the fact its a Kia. So my question is, has anyone owned or driven a Kia before? I've never dealt with one, but it seems like the Kia and Hyundai (both Korean and owned by the same company) have improved their image a lot in the recent years. Any input would be great, cheers.
  21. Squatted 75kg today! Benched 62.5 on Tuesday.
  22. Here's a picture of my latest weapon: Note the damage at the bottom of the photo, not the main stat where it can only display three digits. This is all legit, done on my xbox, no hacks used. Here's my armour too, it's normally around 2.5k if I wear a shield. I only recommend doing this once you start to grow bored of the game, as you pretty much one shot everything (dragons included), even on master difficulty. Edit: No idea why they're posting sideways.
  23. Isn't that too much protein? Why not at least try to put the shakes between each meal, rather than ontop of each meal? Also, no carbs at all? I understand you're probably not trying to put on weight, but there's no carbs at all, not even in the morning.
  24. Just use the caravan to get to all the major cities. Do the dark brotherhood quest for a horse. Has anyone got the perfect gear yet? I've nearly got it, enchanting and alchemy are at 95+. Its basically when you enchant a ring, necklace, helm and bracers with + alchemy. Then you wear that set, and mix up a + enchanting potion. Then make a better alchemy set, then make... you get the idea. Once all this is done, you make an awesome + smithing set, and a + smithing potion. Then you enhance your armour and weapons. You can get like 500+ damage one handed maces, or 600+ damage bows (you can literally one shot dragons with sneak attacks), and stupid amounts of armour.
  25. I can understand gyms having a rule about towels, but why come and harass me whilst I'm not even doing anything that a towel could assist me with.
