Now i never thought the day would come but......the old girl keeps throwing flames and I'm not sure if it's right as it's happening too often. I think that over time it is getting worse. Symptoms. You do redine gear changes and everything is hot, it blows flames when you lift to change (I'm not unhappy with that). The bit that concerns me is that some mid rpm gear changes it still carries on. Even when it's not blowing flames (big ones) I've had feedback (not from the law TG) that there are little flickering ones visible within the pipe. On a light throttle, tipping in or out, there's a lot of popping and banging going on from the pipe. It all sounds like unstable and incomplete combustion. Now, I've replace the coilpacks (Splitfire) about 9 months ago and it is making plenty (more than ever actually) of power with no misfire under boost and acell. I run a high flow cat (or at least I've been charged for one), stock dumps and a 3.5" SS system and about 25lb of boost. It's a built engine running forged pistons with about 15k kms on it. Any qualified people want to give me a steer as to what's happening. I used to love it and try and make the car do it for my own fun, but now it seems it's happening no matter what.... Thanks.

Alignment specs attached. Disappointing that the front couldn't get more neg camber. Thrust angle and SAI results apparently mean my car is very straight - good news. -

Dunno really, but if it's hard, and you like it, I'd stay where you are. -

Well it's all done and I've driven my 30kms home and can report that the ride is excellent, and it all feels rather civilised. I hadn't realised how much the old harsh ride put me off driving it. I got the compression backed off one click from the original setting and it it kinda what I'd hoped for now. I think it's set up very soft compared to what is possible, so should be very adjustable from here. Just got to figure out how do-able that is from home. Ill post up the alignment sheet, but they maxed the front camber at 1.5 as the adjustable arms would allow no more........The rear was at 1.75 and this was the minimum due to the ride height. 340mm rear 345mm front. Looks tough as guts and rides really well. Great combo. I'm flat out at work next week and off for a month after that so not sure how much I'm going to be able to figure how the handling has been improved (if at all). All in all it's kinda like you sent your girlfriend to Swiss Finishing School and she got a boob job on the way back. It's what you already know and love, but somehow better, more refined and it kind of re-invigorates your relationship..... Photos, specs and more waffling drive reports coming soon. -

The Techsport EVO is in my car space and my car is at their workshop as I write this (they picked it up). I'll have it back at day end - subject to wife and family permission I'll be posting the results this evening - based on my 30km drive home through suburbia......so it'll all be about how comfy the ride was. -
Well I must smell cos Benno wouldn't even quote me for suspension work. Poor me. Anyhow, last week I fitted DMS 50mm to my car. Today the car gets a proper alignment. Initial feedback is hard to give at this stage as I've driven it so little, and it's not set up yet. I have a full thread devoted to this decision. I can recommend Techsport in Bayswater who did the fitting. Product price was better than advertised on this forum, and they were happy to do custom fabrication to avoid having to use spherical top mounts (more cost, less compliance and they wear out). Plus I understand they do alignment work for Benno (who seems to like to outsource - valving to Fulcrum, alignment to Techsport.......). Let me know if you want a chat or even a ride in my car.

Yeah, all the convenience of Baywater, a $120 round trip cab ride from my office. . Still, the main point is quality support for teh GTR. -

Well, they had a 'timing' problem on the day and I picked my car up with the DMS fitted and the toe set, but that was it........They're picking my car up from my office next Friday (and delivering it back to me) to complete the alignment. Can't ask for more than that but I was pretty annoyed it wasn't finished at the time.....I guess shit happens. However, first impressions are that the new set up is more compliant, though not as much as I thought it would be, and some how everything seems a little more delicate and communicative. The first drive is so hard to tell as you're expectations usually cloud any objective assessment. Not to mention I did 40kms on a freeway and had getting home in time for a card game on my mind! The steering seems different. Slightly lighter, and more detailed feedback. Wasn't expecting that. I did give it a few squirts on some corners and I guess the new set up felt 'easy'. Just did it. No fuss. Anyhow, I'll get the final product, take it for a thrash and report back. They did get photos of the modified shock tops as I asked so I'll post them up too. I'll post the full set up once done. I asked them what ride height they set it too and they were working to......drum roll, guess who's advice.......son of rajab Ben of Racepace!! Turns out they all know each other....There is a 10mm difference from one side to the other at the rear. The lower side (10mm too low) looks way tough but in the name of performance will have to be raised in the final set up.... A GTR modifier's job is never done....... -

Re spring rubbers I'm going to ask them to take photos of their fabrication before they go into the car. So I can see what I've paid for, the quality of the work and how it all works. I'll post up once I have them. -

R32 Gtr Front Lower Ball Joints

Not knowing exactly what they look like, how come 4? I imagined 1 joint for each (front) corner? Also, what difference did you feel once it was done? Thanks Sean. -

If these need replacing, what is the best way to go? Nissan OEM, or is there better / cheaper stuff to consider? If Nissan, can anyone advise of the part #? Thanks. -

LotusGTR replied to LotusGTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
OK, well it really now comes down to DMS 50mm or the Bilstein 'home made' coilovers. They are withing a couple of hundred bucks of each other. The DMS product has full external adjustability and the BS has none. The DMS seem like good quality stuff but do not seem to be the regular way to go on a GTR. Might just be a popularity thing, which is not always a good reaon to go one way or another. The fitter in the DMS case will weld a locating ring to the standard tops and hae a polyurathane top to the coilover to stop any vibe transfers to the car. At this stage the DMS are getting my vote as they're slightly cheaper, are adjustable, are Oz made and supported and are a slightly 'different' option. Any final comments or suggestions? Cheers for all your support and assistance. -

LotusGTR replied to Sol32's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Glenn, I'd be interested if I knew the plate could be changed to silver or white with black / blue letters. I don't beleive this can be done due to the type of plate it is. I rang Vic roads and discussed this at length. There are many colours available, but they're not to my taste......This is why I was asking what type it is. Don't reckon a black plate will go with my silver R. Maybe you know something about this and can shed further light? -

LotusGTR replied to GTR_STEALTH's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Do not drive into gutters and you will have no rash. Nor will you damage the sidewalls of your tyres, thereby ruining them. 255 will fit on a 9" but you need to figure out rolling circumferances too. -
