  1. I've also been told that I need uprights for the front in order to convert the front brakes. I'm after rears as well. Thanks Nathan
  2. As the title states, I'm after a set of brakes that will fit my R34 Non-Turbo. Seems that R33 GTSt or R34 GTT brakes will be suitable. Reply in topic or PM. Cheers Nathan
  3. Will these be suitable for an R34? Pending suitability (even if modifying brake lines is required), I'll be happy to buy them of you for $350.
  4. Yeah...it's not looking good for me :S 280 on the front is something I can live with, but being that the rears are so much different is making me want to go all out on upgrading the brakes to R33 GTSt, and at least not have problems in the future with replacement rotors and pads.
  5. I measured mine up this arvo after work: Fronts are in fact 280mm, and rears were suprisingly 265mm accross the diameter. Is this normal??
  6. Injectors should only really need upgrading if: They are creating a restriction (not enough fuel getting into the engine because of injector size) and therefore risking running to lean, or not being able to get as much out of an engine; Performance upgrades substantially increasing air flow and therefore requiring more fuel that the stock injectors can't flow, which generally results in the above anyway. And if you do "need" bigger injectors for that reason, then you will probably also need a bigger fuel pump, and then of course you'll need a piggy back ECU to remap the A/F Ratios (that can easily add up VERY quickly). Basically, unless he's planning on doing some big things with that engine (ie. Turbocharging, or bigger cams and extensive N/A modding, or NOS) then save the $$$ for something else until such time as there is a NEED for bigger injectors.
  7. EFT advise sent RDA Slotted F & R for R34 GT Non-Turbo EBC Red Pads F & R for R34 GT Non-Turbo Calipers
  8. So that would mean 280mm? I just found this wihle doing some searching: http://wiki.r31skylineclub.com/index.php?t...s_Miscellaneous It shows the R34 GT as 296 x 30 as well...but the R33 GTS is 280 x 26...so surely the R34 even non-turbo would be 30mm thick. I'm starting to wonder if the S15 rotors would suit, but I'm not having much luck with finding info on that. Maybe I'll get around to taking the wheels off and measuring it up. I just have a feeling that the rotors i have are smaller than what "can" fit, but as my knowledge of what works and what doesn't work when it comes to brake systems is limited I'm really not sure.
  9. Now I'm slightly bit more confused... As mentioned R33 GTS = 4 stud, GTSt = 5 stud, Isn't GTSt brakes larger than R34 GT?
  10. Quote for the following please for an R34 25GT Sedan Non-Turbo: Front Slotted Rear Slotted EBC Greens to suit EBC Reds to suit And an ETA if possible please. Postage to 4108 Thanks mate Cheers Nathan
  11. I've been trying to search through the forums to confirm the size of standard N/A rotors for the R34 but haven't had much luck. The current RDA Group Buy states R33 GTS-t/R34 GT non turbo as 296mm and R=297mm. For some reason I thought the fronts were closer to 280mm, or will 296 fit? The rears I thought would be smaller? What spec of pad suits the R34 N/A? If someone can confirm for me that will be awesome as I really need to change my rear rotors/pads and wouldn't mind getting slotted fronts. Cheers Nathan PS. Mods, if this is better suited to the Braking forum please move. I intentionally posted it in the N/A section.
  12. I completely agree with what Matt has said about sticking to an N/A with good suspension and subtle mods before going up to a turbo car. Whilst I would have like to have had a turbo car straight away, and after buying an N/A I realised that I could have bought a turbo model with change of licence; I really don't regret having developed my experience in a non turbo skyline first. Driving a Skyline is one thing when on your P's, you have higher insurance, the cost of making a claim is ridiculous! Having a turbo skyline just leaves too much temptation to do something that could end nasty. I'm not saying that you can't drive fast in an N/A and have the exact same happen, but with a turbo car it's a lot easier, and more tempting, and if you don't have the experience, it's very easy to lose control and goodbye skyline. I don't care what anyone says, if you're still on your provisionals you still have a lot of experience to gain. I'm saying this and I still have a year left to go on mine. Don't learn the hard way like I know some people have. Buy an N/A, learn the limits of your car in a controlled environment, once you have mastered that then you can always do a turbo conversion later or buy a turbo model skyline. It's not the end of the world if you can't have a turbo straight away. Also I didn't realise the extent of the complications with driving a prohibited vehicle should the worst happen...for the sake of everyone else on the road obey the laws. We may not like them, and it's not fair how it creates a problem with buying a car now, then changing it later etc.. but they are there for a reason.
  13. holy crap he is good!! 3:14 <- That guy has no fear!
  14. Macquarie Pass? Long winding roads that are empty?
  15. Yeah I heard something about a new highway..been about a year since I moved, I'm in Brizzy now I just remember trips back through Kiama on weekends not being the quickest. On topic though with what to do in traffic, look for other skylines
  16. Born and raised in the gong That part of Kiama is shocking on a weekend afternoon!
  17. A bit related to this topic, I was on Mains road yesterday, saw a cop a couple of lanes over a few cars distance at least behind, so as usual take it easy and don't do anything that will get attenion. On approach to the intersection a couple of car lengths away from the line, the light turns yellow. I kept going, but without obviously accellarating through. Now the police car that was a few lanes over and few cars behind, also makes it through the intersection, must have barely nipped through before red, if not on red from what I could see/tell in my rear view. Later on he also changes lanes without indicating. A bit of one-sidedness? I think it's ridiculous how some people get targetted 99% of the time for being safe than sorry on a yellow light when I see those sort of things.
  18. Was it at that particular road in Kiama where the lanes keep merging? lol I usually just browse through songs on my stereo or yell at traffic to see if it moves
  19. Any kits to suit R34 GT? That is non-turbo brakes...
  20. A number of people have done the DE+T conversion with good long-lasting results. If not I wouldn't be doing so myself. 666DAN got approx 70,000kms out of his R34 before the car got stolen; WYTSKY has been successful with his R33 and he's pushing some big boost for stock internals!; DORI32 and myself are in the process of gathering parts to do the conversion on our R34's....so long as it's tuned properly, you take the right steps to ensure it's getting nice cool air, and you're not flogging the balls of it at every intersection, it should live a long and prosperous life. How I see it, my car has around 111,000kms on the clock. If I get even 70-80,000kms out of it that will be excellent! Cause by then I'd be ready to say, ok, engine rebuild with forged high comp internals, bigger turbo, upgrade the other necessary bits, and all the ground work will have already been laid out with the initial bolt-on conversion. The result? More power with the initial conversion, with even more room later on to build it into a rock solid turbo engine. As for power levels, this really depends on how far you go with it, FMIC, High flow pump, injector capacity etc.. and of course how much boost you're willing to push through it. Yeah you can run high boost, don't expect it to last. Run ~7PSi, combined with high comp, you'll get the down low torque of the high comp, and from what i've read it will come on boost at 1800 and throw you into your seat at 3000revs. Either way you look at it, you'l get more power for the dollars spent on a turbo conversion than the same dollars on keeping it N/A. It all depends on whether you want a turbo or if you're happy with or prefer an N/A car. For some N/A is all they need / want and that's fine. Lammy's post was probably better seen and more useful in the how to turbo an N/A thread than this one.
  21. If you've had head work done, complete exhaust inc extractors and modify the intake for optimal flow and temp, then you would obviously want to get the most out of all that and have it running smoothly. Considering the strange issues you're having, it can't hurt to get it tuned unless your factory one can be remapped? Someone confirm? Before all that though, have you tried resetting the ECU since doing these mods? Disconnect negative terminal, foot on brake for 10-15seconds, reconnect and drive away and let it relearn. It's worth a try.
  22. When did you get your Ps? Before Mid 2007? Move to QLD transfer licence =P I didn't realise you could do that until I tfr'd after moving here...AFTER I bought an N/A Skyline
  23. I'm not sure about where you are Panda, but I know that in NSW if you held your provisional licence prior to the new laws, you are exempt, provided you haven't had any disqualifications since then. Seeing as you drove around in a worked subaru for 6 months, did you have your licence before the new laws?
  24. vaires state to state. In QLD it must be braced. In NSW it must be braced AND enclosed.
