  1. Given the condition and the amount of tyre on them, I would really like to get $400, or at least a bit closer to it..
  2. Pics below: They're in pretty good condition with exception of a bit of minor gutter rash. Tyres as you can see have plenty of tread left!
  3. But you're still only going to be able to push the DE engine so far though before you risk melting pistons..or at least that's how I perceive it. My FMIC arrived today, got everything but the BOV, Filter and I'll probably need turbo inlet piping.
  4. Where'd you pick up the GTR BOV from? and how much and are there any more where it came from? As for exhaust, I've read about someone having done a N/A Turbo conversion on a R33 but had compressor surge until they fitted a bigger cat back. When you say supporting mods...?
  5. When the throttle closes (ie. taking foot of accellarator) the air in the intake needs to go somewhere. Without a BOV it will go back to the turbo and out the air filter, which causes it to backspin and surge (youtube compressor surge). A BOV vents this pressure to protect the turbo. Also air going back out the turbo means more air is passing through the AFM causing more fuel to be used. An atmospheric BOV vents the air to atmosphere and thus creating the loud PSHH sound. A plumback BOV is plumbed back into the piping and does not vent to the atmosphere. Vent to atmospehere is illegal as the air hasn't passed through the cat converter. I think EPA noise emissions may come into it somewhere. A lot of the time it's a matter of luck as to whether cops pull you up for it. I'm going to play it safe and go with a plumback, I also like the idea of not attracting too much attention to myself. You can get BOVs that you can switch between Atmo / Plumback / or part way between, however this may not be the best thing for tuning, and in most states, if BOV can be altered to run Atmo even if it is running plumback at the time, it is still defectable.
  6. The power you make is going to be limited by how much fuel, air and spark you can achieve, and how strong you can build the engine to support the power made. Keeping the engine standard means you'll only be able to make so much power, at least without breaking anything. The type of turbo used can effect how quickly it spools up and how efficiently it performs. The size of the rear housing will effect how efficiently the turbo spools. By what Dori has said, the turbo will be suitable for his needs and perform optimally for the power he can ideally expect from a high comp turbo conversion. An R34GTT Turbo will probably be your best choice for converting an N/A R34 on a budget. I'll be using an R33 Series 2 Turbo. You'll need one that is T3 Flanged. Stick with an R33 or R34 turbo and you should be right and you can hopefully just bolt up a front/dump pipe to connect to your cat and catback. If you want to push big figures and run bigger turbos, then yes you will need to start upgrading the engine to handle it all, and of course with an N/A car a number of other things will need to be addressed. If you put an atmo BOV and a pod filter etc.. then yes it will whistle and make the wooshy noises. Also expect even more police attention. If you keep a plumback and keep air intake relatively stock it should stay fairly sleeperish. Though I have heard high comp turbo skylines reffered to as sounding like steam trains. PS. Catch can arrived today, thanks Dori
  7. Yeah not a good combo vikz lol What turbo you getting dori?
  8. That's my take on the gunmetal rims
  9. Niiiiice!! I love the old school Skylines with the hot plates! Very nice clean ride too man!
  10. No worries man I picked up my Walbro GS342 on ebay for $145 posted from http://stores.ebay.com.au/PERFORMANCE-WORLD-STORE: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=320308878704 They are super quick with postage. I bought it on a sunday, had it delivered to work, it was on my desk when I got there! As for intercoolers, I got one of these Monsta Intercoolers on ebay http://stores.ebay.com.au/MonstARetailCentral. For the price I'm willing to see how they go: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=220294349334 They do one listing at a time starting at 1cent. Or you can choose the buy it nows, works out around $400ish posted. I got mine $304 all up in the end, it's a bit of a fight bidding for it in the last few minutes though. Exhaust, unless you can pick up a second hand one, just get a custom one made up. Mr XTC might have a 3" catback for sale if he doesn't give in to doing the turbo conversion
  11. Used Exhaust Manifolds: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ni...amp;hl=manifold http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...amp;hl=manifold http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Vi...amp;hl=manifold http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...amp;hl=manifold
  12. I'll keep an eye out for you mate...any other parts you're still looking for?
  13. Any modification that changes the performance of a vehicle in NSW on a restricted provisional licence is illegal, so I can't see that a pod will make an exception. I believe that in NSW for a pod to be legal in general though, it needs to be enclosed and correctly mounted with a pod brace. That said, if you can mod something up to make an enclosed pod look factory, go for it. Unless you're really after the nice induction sound, use a K&N Panel, and if necessary run a cold air feed into the factory box. Besides the induction sound, I doubt you're going to find much difference to performance, and the Panel in the factory box with a cold air feed will probably be better. After all it is performance that you're after.
  14. Thanks I did have some of my friends fooled I think the surrounding shadows on the car adds to the illusion. And yes, the stock rims do look quite nice if only they were bigger! They're the stock 16" N/A model rims too
  15. Just a quick job before heading off. I done a few different bronze colours, and touched the tyres n discs & calipers on one of them.
  16. One last one for today, I had a go at changing from Metallic Silver to White. Not the easiest colour to change to it seems, but I don't think it turned out too bad. I could have masked it off a bit better though.
  17. When I was talking to one of the guys at Rob Bliss Exhaust a few months back, he said that oval barrel twin tip on an N/A will drone and they haven't been able to get rid of that drone. Seems like it's a characteristic of that muffler. I was thinking of going for the twin tip factory look as well when I end up doing my exhaust, but the noise I guess will offset that factory like side of it. You could always get a factory twin tip of a GTR, that should flow plenty for an N/A and keep things quieter.
  18. Another one with colour changed to matte black finish, and a bit of touch up.
  19. Got bored and decided to play around with one of the photos I had of my R34 4 Door. Changed colour to a metallic purple (at least it looks purple on my screen), made the stock rims a bit bigger, dropped the sides down a bit, dropped the rear bar down and gave a bit of lift to the boot and extended it, touched up some of the dark sections, gave the head lights a bit of definition, tinted windows a bit, added visor tint strip, gave the front door a bit of curve. Second attempt I tried bringing the front bar forward a bit and dropping it a touch, but it looks a bit out of place and uneven. Anyways, that's my attempt at photochopping, I wanted to maintain a level of realism Before: After First Attempt: After Second Attempt:
  20. Is this still running? Maybe needs more promo on the home page:)
  21. I'm pretty sure that the RB25DET exhaust manifolds are interchangeable between models.
  22. http://autospeed.com/cms/A_2351/article.html This article might be of some interest. Whilst not specific to Skylines, it's still relevant. It covers simple modifications that would otherwise look quite standard, but can help get performance gains without spending much.
  23. Yeah the figures can add up quite quickly, but it depends on where you get parts from. Keep a look out on ebay as well, I've seen some R34 Neo model turbos going recently, and even saw a set of neo injectors listed at $20 starting! Check the for sales here as well, always bargains keep coming up, and on NS. I decided to see how I go with a Monsta Performance Delta Fin Intercooler. They sell on ebay for $350+$54, but lately they've done some starting at 1cent. I didn't have much luck the first time fighting over it in the last minute, but second time around I picked it up for $252 plus $54, for a full kit. For what it's worth I'll see how it goes. I'll probably get it done at PerFourMance motorsport in Slacks Creek, pretty sure there's tuning places around there, it's like performance heaven down there lol Hopefully getting it from workshop to tuner won't be too much of a problem then. Robin at Perfourmance said he usually sends them over to APC, which is about 1.9kms away. Then again, a brief search spat out some not so favourable results, so now I'm really not sure of where to go. I'm still getting to know the places around Brisbane to get work done, so I'm really open to suggestions. I don't want to break the budget in labour, but I'd rather spend a little more if I need to and get quality work done..specially when it comes to the tuning of a RB25DE+t I'm probably going to proceed with the conversion either before or after xmas. I want to take a trip back down to the Gong for xmas though, so that's why I'm thinking after xmas. Though I've got pretty much everything in or on the way except for a BOV and pod filter, so knowing me I'll get impatient and just get it done with I've been thinking of options with exhaust as well, contemplated the idea of having a 3" mandrel bend (or 2.75"??) made up with resonators and a GTR Muffler if I can get hold of a cheap one. That way I can keep the factory look and stay quiet, and I figure that the GTR Muffler should flow well enough for my needs. I'm not sure what the weight would be like though compared to an aftermarket S/S.
