Have you checked the horn , its on the steel post in front of radiator ? Check for wires ? plugged in ? Ground ? Its a pretty simple item Fuse ? any other recent mods ? Fmic ???? Oh wait its not a turbo Has it been wet ? Power washed or rain ? Deep drains ? Does the steering wheel sound funny when it turns? Kinda grinds a bit behind the airbag area ? Turn it full lock does it work now ? Is it auto or manual ? Auto with volume controls ? Or tiptromic shifter on wheel ? if so do the work ok ? Could be a clock spring but doubt it Did you change steering wheels ?ADR Defect if you do by the way on airbag cars unless its a gtr wheel or sim! any loose wires near battery ? maybe someone hacked it in japan or ? Most likely water , wires , fuse related , too wet it will dry out after a bit and work again ?

I just spoke to a trimmer in victoria about making a pre molded set for GTT , he didnt realize so many existed in oz I asked if they would consider molding some. Up but my car is in the wrong state lol They make pre molded for all the older models already the sample plush carpet he sent was very nice ( the factory carpet is crap !!! Real Black looks so much nicer) forgot the price think it was about 300 for a coupe premolded r33 so 34 shouldnt be different If not he sugguested selling the carpet 54 bucks a meter , think its over a meter wide so maybe 2 meters of it or less to do a coupe ? if you do boot floor too ? This is the plastic backed carpet like the real factory carpet , i want plush and can say it looked about 6-8 mm thick about the same as the factory gtr floor mats ? only tighter weave , they had 3 thickness available and various colours , some can be patterns too hmmm plaid nice haha im checking a few other places but maybe someone in vic can drive a gtt over to get a mold made ?

Do you have the abs module ( alloy block in engine bay with 3 plugs)? how much And abs wheel sensors 4 of them ? the ecu on the right side of the boot on the back of the seat ( silver box ? cheers fyi.,,, Some people might not realize series 2 car parts dont interchange with series 1 !!! Windows switches and electronics are way different they went to surface mount components and they wont work at All on cars pre8/2000

Can anyone confirm that the hinges on the binnet of r34 gtr are the same as gtt or gt ??? Need a 100% answer please And if they can confirm the older cars 32,33 are different or not as well , i found a usa company who makes some sweet billet ones with gas struts but they need confirmation before i setup a group buy !! They have some for R35 as well but pretty sure those would be the same on usa and aus models They do supras and other cars too

FYI Just a quick update ipad tablets fit in R34 dash's with mods but same basic dash shape and console area, only the bezel trim and ashtray area needs remolded They can be perm mount or slide out depending on how custom you want !! Test fit in my car today , plenty of space And no metal to hit if you slide out on drivers side of lower fash , passenger side has a bracket so before anyone asks ues you can do it Cheers

In theory every car should be driven mild or ilde for a 30 seconds before shut off to let oil and water temps to stabilize ,, the metal in the block alloy heads on cast iron cools at different rates and warped heads used to be extremely common as well for the same reason , the turbo timer came from the days of old where Turbo failure was common because of oil cooking and coating the suface in a gooey film of burned on oil and the quick fix was sent out in a dealer note to let the car idle for x number of min before shutdown or drive slow and mellow for a bit after leaving the highway , the same note was also a killer of rotor engines flog it then shut it off was extremely bad for them , the early turbo nissans , ford mustangs , saab , and some other companies had a really bad record of turbo failure in usa , the cars would come right off the higjway and be shut off( highways back them 75mph or no speed limit in daylight in montana) and it gets just as hot in summer , and oil wasnt as good either , people didnt change the oil twice as much on a turbo( like the manual says) they just drove it exaxtly like the old 283 small block chevy they traded in with so much sludge in the engine it sealed up the leaks and a putty knife was the only way of removing it. My moms honey bee datto B210 had at least 25 mm on the outside of the engine block one day i decided it was time to clean the greasy pig off and it never ran right again it seemed to like the blanket of sludge to keep the hear in it on below freezing days ??? Go figure But today common sense and good oil , changed often and australias slow highway speeds , plus lots more idling in traffic you really dont need a turbo timer its a old gimic that is still a feature on usa designed alarms mostly and it is a defect CFR the ADR number but its been hashed out a thousand times on here its wank factor now , it has merit but is it worthy of a defect sticker !! Instructions for programming a factory immobilizer key are in the r34 supplemental manual ( on the skyline uk forum or scribd website) but you better know what your doing its easy to screw it up

Turbo timer is a defect !!! And ghey anyhow so dont take some advice as gospel on the net Remote start is being sold here with iphone viper gps ( the legallity is not clear it was a major defect in the past ? ) you shouldnt need remote start in oz its wank factor mine isnt hooked up and besides stick shift needs a lot more to override safely Vipers are great alarms if installed right but without dumping a lot more sensors and immobolizer points just cars wont insure it in the event of theft , you also need the black wire harness feature and the yearly gps cost is about 70 bucks i think The gps feature is about 300 + alone you can buy your own gps tracker and sim card for much less and no extra fees except top ups on prepaid sim card They work fantastic and intergrate well with smart phones Remote shut off and a mutitude of other things you can do with it Geo fence Speed alerts Etc And buy a club lock even a cheapy is fine your after multiple layers of security to make it to hard to be worth it And common sense goes along with the alarm , serious lack of it lately !! Dont put it on the street in the hood Like most cars they can be nicked in 30seconds But done right even a flat bed wouldnt get it !!! Remote start is for cold climates so you can warm up the car and defrost ice the windows while eating breakfast you can cool your car with a/c but its not legal or worth it dont buy cheap alarms for skylines and use a recommended installer who can hide it and warranty the work

Speaker phase ,= when you run the right front positive wire to the right front speaker positive, same for neg wire And same for other front speaker And if you have back ones they should be in phase or 180 out of phase depending on the car acoustics and decks settings on reverb etc. If you hook one front or rear with neg to pos and the other just the opposite the bass wave cancels out about 80% of the bass ( depending on distance and freq. speed of sound at that temp and humidity and reflections in the cabin) if you hooked up one side front and rear wrong it would sound shocking bad , or if you have one front hooked up to a rear and one on the opposite front you would have a phase delay and cancellation again but more of an echo delay its easy to check without tools in most cases fade the radio to the fronts them all the way right them to left a mid volume cd not radio does one side sound a lot more bass ?? if so more them likely a out of phase speaker or bad one If you have back speakers fade alll the way to back repeat process shouldnt have a dramatic bass increase from one side to the other they should sound even then in middle position it should get louder bass not lower bass output Decent bass from coax ? not enough for me. Unless its am talk radio only ... Lol And coax limits you so much already to a mid range setup not very many really good coax exist then the real good ones get to deep to fit the door without some fabrication like before i can recommend any because you need a budget and to listen to some different tweeter types , a poly cone woofer will sound deeper and not so muffled as well , carbon, kevlar and other super stiff cones are fine for amp systems but deck power the poly cone models have a higher db @1watt at 4 ohms rating and still plays pretty low So they work well and dont cost a mint You could do custom and buy the parts to do a nice set of splits that rock hard and sound sweet and still use factory grills etc , then you could build a crossover and use a real woofer not a mid acting like a woofer , the parts would be top range and used in many thousand dollar home speakers but you have to use a dynmat type product no exceptions to get deeper bass and lower the noise from the car ( jaycar dynamat stuff not recommended for doors if falls off in the heat ) And just because some speakers cost a mint doesnt mean they sound better !!! i know many brands that mark up to the moon but you can buy same raw drivers retail and build better crossovers for a fraction of the cost , you dont get fancy grills or packaging and you get the real companies name not a rebranded one? Depends on how skilled you are or $$ just buy a cheap powered sub and some coax , get type R outta your head haha Alpine has a few new types now !! And alpines models changed over the years a lot so a new type R isnt the same as old ones , not even made in the same country as before on the subs Dont get me wrong i love alpine but so many other and better choices now and money is tighter? so you might look around

Pull off a door panel and look most stock speakers arent in skylines but could be alpine or pioneer ( carozza) or panasonic from japan If there stock still ditch them anything is a huge improvement even cheapos are better Did you hook them up in phase ? One out of phase cancels the bass from the other one and distortion is easy? Both need positive to positive , neg to neg Take your fav tunes mix on cd with you to listen to speakers ? Use your ears i cant tell you what is the best for your ears or wallet ? Like all companys they make cheap, mid, expensive models type R are mid range models You might find silk tweeters sound the smoothest but some people like titanium for the cymbals with brushes sound? Or poly dome for cost ?? watch for depth on speakers magnets Dont overlook kenwood or pioneer stuff they top line models sound great !! Budget wise you can spend 20 bucks to 20,000 a pair lol Amp will always sound better then deck power no exceptions Run rca away from computers and factory wiring harness if possible ? The trigger lead can be run with rca just dont wind it around the rca !! Some rca have triggers built into them Power wire goes down other side same deal steer clear of factory wires and computers /relays as best you can , tape the wire down and use the grooves in the floor pan cross factory wires at 90 degrees across not parallel touching them Ground the amp near the amp dont extend it , dont ground right to battery on gtr models it can cause service issues If you go big the factory gtr power wire will need upgraded too!! (expensive ) The battery needs to be decent not a add water model or jap tiny connections ( pay now or pay later twice ) water batteries are a defect in the boot anyhow and not wise near amps that switch on and off ( car go boom!!) you must run wires properly which in most cases the seats all need to come out !! Plus you find all the things dropped over the years coins, coke spills, crud, sometimes things from japan you name it , makes a good time for a serious clean up of the carpets ? Runnning speak wires in your case to the back of the radio and splice in there , its twice the work to get them into the doors and if your just doing it basic you wont know the difference they can run with rca area but try to seperate them a bit , best choice rca one side , amp power other side Speaker wires middle of the car to deck or down each side to doors apart from other wires they dont pick up noise as easy Dont use 6x9s ever !!! they suck and only made because Gm had that size space available in a rear deck no other reason , most car companies came up with nonstandard sizes at one point or another just like decks Buy a sub even a small one under 100 bucks sounds way better then 6x9's ever will plus on track days you can remove it if you desire ? Yes you can get better speakers in coax then alpine type R Have a look at jaycar try the vifa models decent for the cost Lots of coax options just make sure they dont run them thru a lot of power on the demo boards unless you plan on the same setup ? Yes deck power can be used but limited to about 17-20 watts clean before distortion sets in on a 50-60w deck and it gets worse as the deck heats up !!! Set. Budget get test music in hand and go listen to some speakers then decide Skylines are loud so remember amp on the speakers to overcome noise and sounddeaden at least the front doors Think that covers it for the second time now

Anticar jack feature not effective ? It saved my ex wife while her car was in front of the poilice station !! while i grabbed a pizza inside the shop actoss from police station in adelaide a bunch of kids tried to jack her r31 with her in it !! in front of a crowd of people about 9pm on a friday night , the feature was the only thing that stopped them , i couldnt see thru the dark tint on the store windows since the shop was bright and it was dark outside , ,,,,,plus if you crash often doors fly open locked they wont come open so easy? the other portion of anticarjacking is to shut down the car after preset time or speed is reached , sound sirens and strobe or often much more extreme things , i lived in LA the carjack training grounds and myself attempted to take my rx7 with uzi's ( crips) now you can do it with smart phones a lot easier !! And track it and video the crims remotely so many layers of security there head spins even a flat bed wont work lol only muppets leave keys in cars in australia or anywhere in the world in general!!! ! auto lock alarm ( immobilizer) thats a retarded name its a glorified alarm with more points of protection ?? immobilizer sounds to me like some word forden made up for fuel cut off and horn honking in the 70's but yet cars still get snagged daily with immobalizers go figure (Australian car theft is worse then usa by far , the crimes dont fit the punishment here end rant no respect for property !! ) After more then 25 years installing in a much busier market then australia I have had very few customers ask to turn off auto arm /lock feature but when your friends play with your keys it wont leave your car ungaurded Exceptions the teen girls who would fill up at pretrol station leaving her prized purse , etc on the seat to turn and watch the lights flash and lock her out !! The anti car jacking is turned on , it is a good idea even in australia where crims are learning to try to jump into your car at the lights , that i would leave on Insurance is setup to have a alarm that auto locks the car after a time period ?? i know its annoying but insurance prefers it for coverage ? Leave it on Turbo timers are instant defects and ghey ? Just drive it mellow before parking it Disconnect it My guess is direct electronics or usa maker ? with a bad wire job on the ignition sense curcuit or outboard module The car battery has been disconnected or run flat ?or someone has found the valet program switch or button combination on the remote Which defaults it to that setting , the turbo timer is another issue depending on if its stand alone or alarm driven I would suss if you sit in it when the timer stops and doors unlock you will also have power to the windows still ? Not sensing the door pin is a possibility , does the lock bitton beep more now ? if so how many beeps ?

I just took my nismo carbon off 30 bucks its yours for both just contact cement back on ? If not I'll chuck them up for sale on here water clear coated i redid my b pillars in carbon , all of it not just the strip like nismo ones or fake di nic carbon my nismo ones are matte but can be recleared same price No nismo name i sanded it off to spray satin on them last time

This is going to sound dodgy but it works everytime Take the pads off while laying on the concrete face down give them a few seconds of swirl to fluff up the top layer , it should leave some crap on the comcrete , now use a file file and place in grove feather the groove all the pad edges need be rounded off a bit , just a little !! Do all the pads , copper grease lightly the slides and any contact points ( you can see all the silver rub marks ) If you have backing shims glue them to the pad with permatex blue brake stuff if your handbrake is dragging thats another story But this has always fixed every car , unless you run full race pads on the street If you have slotted rotors clean the grooves with file tang Douse the calipers in brake cleaner before reinstall Unless yout rotors are warped this should sort them it takes the glaze off the pads so rebed the pads like new before flogging them

Ive done more them my share of carbon, kevlar and fiberglass work The cost is much less if you know where to look , if all goes well in the future i might put together some kits and group buys from my supply source i asked for group buy pricing but havent heard back yet ( friday am ) I can get just about everything you can imagine and some you cant haha I have just about every weave and thickness in carbon a bunch of kelvar bulletproof stuff in yellow and carbon/ kevlar in blue or red or yellow ( not coloured fiberglass but kevlar unlike others!) And arramid fiber used in heat shields on jets or turbos And various resins You dont need vacuum bags in most cases or even ovens except on wet cool days !!! Cosmetic parts can be light still Of course if your after lightweight and super strong the process gets way more expensive and consumes a lot of time to do it right ! Most people just want the looks first The side afffect is its strong and lighter then fiberglass and can be 7 times stronger then steel You cant use the cheap resin( fiberglass type) from bunnings on carbon lol Epoxy is the go and a few other types i get from usa i have the 12k weave for undertray full length on my car , 1 layer will be strong enough with kevlar scrape points on nose and on impact parts on the new body kit I have some quarter turn flush quick release like aircraft cowls use coming as well to do some nice toys on my car and yet retain easy access to work on it

Mine has a sharkfin amplified antenna off a high end merc or audi from europe , tiny one but a bugger to install double wall steel to drill and remove the roof liner , cost a mint And amplified it takes power as well and custom mods to the plugs too its for radio or tv Digital Holes must be drilled into roof !!! The radios here will get signals but a digital radio takes a different length to tune in digital radio , shorter in most cases but the ones they supply dont like window tint with metalization in it ( most have some) new ceramic tint but hasnt hit the oz market yet You can use magnetic ones on the rear deck but the tint and ground plane dont work well , not a perfected science in cars here yet and only a few radios offer it , orion digital Mine is from overseas modified for use here You can mount the tweeters behind the factory mid grils ? No cutting crossover can fit in armrest area just secure well and foam over them to stop rattle on skins if there close to door panel skins , like i said have a pro do it since you dont seem confident to do it??

Oh yes the days are gone where you can diy a car stereo on new cars , even simple things could fry your whole car computer system or activate airbags galore This goes for just about every car built these days no DIY Without pro help
