I've been thinking about fuel for my rb30. I was going to go e85 but we can't get it at the pumps where I'm at. I was going to ship it by the barrel, fill up for races(time attack, drag, HPDE, etc), and use pump gas for the street. BUT! If I'm going to be shipping fuel and making an alcohol safe fuel system, why not use methanol? According to my math, even at 75/25 meth-to-pump it should make more power than E85. It should also run cooler, be easier to find (lots of drag cars here,) and be cheaper. Anybody gone done this road before? Interesting fact- in china, where corn is expensive, flex fuel vehicles run M85!

The E85 Sparkplug Thread
Super_Dude replied to joeyjoejoejuniorshabadoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The sse lancer was breaking turbos while using ms109. The switched to e85 the same time they went with the the EFR turbo and they haven't reported a failure yet. -
The E85 Sparkplug Thread
Super_Dude replied to joeyjoejoejuniorshabadoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'm going to be running E85 with my RB30 soon and this thread seems inconclusive. I'm going to be making around 700-750whp. I'm looking at ngk r7436. They come in 8,9 and 10 heat ranges. What do you think? -
-5's Vs Rs's On A Larger Then Stock Motor
Super_Dude replied to Piggaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
What size is your downpipe? Most of the downpipes people use have a 70mm flange to meet the factory cat. If youre using one of these downpipes I bet that's your restriction. I would try modifying your exhaust and downpipe up to the size of your exhaust system (80mm+) -
[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos
Super_Dude replied to Lithium's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'm having a hard time deciding between the .92 and 1.05 8374. Im running an 26/30 with 270 10.8 cams and lots of headwork. The car is mostly a track car. The obvious choice is the 1.05 but the .92 will respond a little quicker and make a broader power band. .92 would be easier to work with and I could sell my tial 60mm. Decisions, decisions... -
I've got x2 044 w/ tomei lift pump and I'm buying some 14mm id2000's. RB30 + new EFR8374 + E85 should be an interesting combo.
-
So high 500kw seems to be the limit when running ID2000's + 044x2?

So I think I'm going to use the Hi octane platinum 4wd adapter/block brace and Hi octane race oil pan. I'm going to keep the M11 studs but was wondering if there is any stronger options than just the regular ARP studs? I'm also going to get a new clutch seeing as I'm pretty sure my OS giken twin won't last long. I'm probably just going to wait until a good used triple plate appears in the classifieds. My GT4088r is also being replaced this winter by a new EFR8374. I can't wait to drive this thing in the spring.

Hey guys, I just bought myself a freshly built rb30 for a steal up here in Canada. I have a few questions about it however The motor still has M11 head studs but I think I will need to switch to M12 to be safe. the block is o-ringed with a custom copper gasket so I'm not sure how much head sealing is going to be an issue. Is the upgrade to M12 needed or just recommended? I'm also looking for 4wd adapter and I can't figure out which one to use. The oil pickup is going to be a pain because I have a trust extended sump. If it's easier I might just switch to a 4wd adapter and new sump from the same manufacturer. That way it will bolt up no problem. What is the best route to go here? I'm planning on running 700-800whp and the car is mostly a track car but I don't think I need a block brace, Is this correct? I'm running a OS Giken twin plate clutch right now but I'm not sure if it will deal with the torque of an RB30 so I might have to upgrade. Anybody have any experience with the OSG twin on a high power RB30? I'm not sure if the shop that built the motor has much experience with RB30's. They have built a lot of motors but I'm wondering what kind of mods are needed for circuit work. Opening up oil returns, etc, etc. If a pro RB30 builder is willing to advise on this build I would gladly offer up some money in return and of course not divulge there tips. I know this is unlikely but a guys gotta try. Here is the mods on the car at the moment (I might be leaving out some) BNR32 Koyo rad w/ twin electric fans HKS oil cooler Tomei cam gears ATI damper 270/270 10.8 procams Extensively ported head (Quench pads retained) Cosworth valve springs xs engineering throttle seals HKS bar and plate intercooler Custom t4 twin scroll manifold with single 60mm tial WG GT4088r 4" stainless exhaust Vipec V44 Greddy rail w/ 800cc injectors x2 bosch 044 with large surge tank and Tomei lift pump HFS-6 water/meth injection kit with direct port x6 HKS Boost controller EVC 6 HKS SSQV II OS Giken twin plate clutch OS giken 1-5 gears ACPT Carbon driveshaft 4.375 diffs ATS Carbon 1.5 way front diff Factory rear diff reshimmed That is all I can think of right now but I'm sure I'm missing a few things. Thanks in advance for the advice.

[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos
Super_Dude replied to Lithium's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Don't be fooled by where it says eng power, it is whp. Its also on a mustang dyno which usually reads lower. .2L + twin scroll isn't going to double the torque of a motor using the same turbo. The efr is also only at 32psi. What boost is that precision at? -
[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos
Super_Dude replied to Lithium's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
If you compare torque on the EFR and the precision at 5000rpm it tells a very different story. The EFR is over 600, the precision is at 300. I don't think anything is going to even these turbos out. Don't forget this is a 2.2l making 200hp@4000 rpm, and 650hp+ from 5000-8500rpm. I think these are good results considering they are trying new cam that they say are causing both lag and loosing power up top over there old cams. I don't have my dyno sheet handy but I'm pretty sure my gt40r 2.6 isn't getting 200hp till 4500 (I had pretty poor results on the last compression test however.) About the EFR84374 on an RB30 I'm going to be trying this combo in the spring and I can't wait. I would try the 9180 but I don't want to be replacing drivetrain parts every trackday. -
Can anyone confirm that stagea 3.9 diffs fit in an r32 gtr? Also how rare are these.
-
I'm running 4.375's with an OS giken 1-5 tranny. I'm running a GT4088r so I switched to 4.375 to gain back response. I like it but it's a little annoying on the highway. I'm planning on building a stroker or an RB30 this winter and switching the 4088r to a new borg warner EFR 8374. I will probably switch back to 4.11 or maybe even go 3.9. I believe 3.9 is stagea 4wd ratio and will bolt in. Am I correct?
-
The car had a lot more in it but we stopped at 21psi because of the stock nur bottom end. I'm working on getting a 2.8 for next year and might switch turbos. I probably would have done a 35r but got the 40r as a complete kit. The 40r should be able to go 700whp if I do keep it. I'm not at home right now but will try to upload the dyno sheet once I get home.
-
maybe, the car was tuned on the 2wd dyno and was let to cool before running in 4wd. My R32 GTR 587awhp at 21psi (with 50/50 water/meth) 573awhp at 20psi (without meth) 2.6l - stock nur bottom end 270/270 10.8 procams GT4088R .85ar Meth is just there for cooling
-
I finished the car up last year but ran low boost for a year. Still on stock bottom end or else I would have pushed a little more. Pretty good for 21psi

When is the second GB going to start?
-
I wonder if one or both of the wastegate flappers is stuck/broken causing it to stay open.
-
Hey fatz. I keep sending you PMs but no reply. Let me know what's up?
-
How long do we have to get into this GB. How many spots are left? Also what kind of oil temps can we expect with this? Should you also run an external air to air exchanger or is this one good enough? My car gets a lot of use as a track car and I don't want to worry about oil temps or water temps.
-
I think some people like measuring full boost while in 5th gear and up a very very steep hill
-
Put my name on the top of the batch 2 GB then. Unless someone else drops out and I catch it quick enough
-
Can you post a dyno sheet? Maybe this is the turbo I need!
-
Will these be for sale after this groupbuy? I wanted to be apart of the GB but funds have been tight up until now. I really want these so I hope they will be available. Or if you can ship to Canada and someone is going to drop out I will take there spot!

Looks good to me. Flow test it to find out. Ideally you should run an Intercooler with a 4" exit and run 4" all the way. Also the mine's car doesn't run a stocker, it runs a nismo. You can even see where the nismo badge should be in the engine bay shots and they just put a Mine's badge in it's place (just like the "Mine's" Mafs)
