Mate i value the project idea and i don't think that ppl should hammer him. My mate bought a stock 93 (evo 3 shape) and converted it to 4wd 4g63 set up and a wide body tommy mac kit. WAIT all this was done within his garage! this is great deal on effort and all of us really value his hard work and wat he loves doing. We call him a crazy engineer. But look these were all bolt on parts and he really was keen on completing it. Yes its cheaper to go and just buy an EVO 3 but there is no statisfaction factor I think that its a good idea that you are trying to be creative! I'm recent off my p-plate so we are in a simular age bracket, i would advise you to keep the GTR stock as a track car and have a daily. Looking back 2 yrs with a skyline on my p-plates (green) i was lucky i didn't get caught earlier. 5 weeks before i got of my p-plate i got pulled over my a TMU (knox lol) and all i felt that i could do is lube up lol didn't run the plates or look at the badge, just counted 5 studs and started writing a ticket(FYI N/A has 4 studs). so i hope you get the message! Night ended pretty well and only 3 demerit points later and about 300 buxs in a fine my car sat in at home for the remaining 5 weeks lol Hope you get the message- you will be asked to engineer the car, EPA= headache to the max I think everyone has been through wat you are thinking (in yr8 i wanted to rb26 a vl LMAO), and take the advise of the older and wiser. Look advise is free and everyone can give it to you, what you wanna do is gonna cost big dollars. You won't fail with this idea, but be unlikely to beat the law,cops are not stupid and p-plates with skyline don't mix to well.

Burson, i think dandy and mitcham actually stock it $130 a pop make sure you don't over fill otherwise u will smelling gear box fluid for a while lol check their website

Yer man i think that everyone here will tel you the same story. Doesn't seem "smart" what you are doing. Just get an N/A and once you are off the p-plates jump into the GTR. If i was that keen on a GTR i would just take the p-plates off and hope for the best lol cause either way you are stuffed!

Charles i think i've seen your car at monash before- is sometimes parked on the main strip next to the grph and K building? There are 2 yellow r34 that i have seen around, one has many stickers on it (and nsw plates) and the other one is pretty clean looking

^^ you don't get a fine unless they can prove it, this is normally done by mobile EPA stations. You DO have to pay the test fee to check it you are suspected to exceed the limit

i was the same and last minute bailed out- you can't win because the court can always say that at the time you had a different exhaust fitted to your car and you swapped it back. Plus they can give you the maximum penality in court if they don't like the way you look lol When i was looking at approx 2k in lawyer fee and been a contractor lost income (noway would i take annual leave) i was full cbf. What you think operation pipedown is- how many cars are actually test, 1400 i really doubt it! Honestly i reckon its BS to the max and i am with every SAU member here, definately don't think Birds you deserve it! and for the record i would f*kin furious if that happened to me!

Mate go down to a wrecker and ask for the parts otherwise find someone wrecking an r34. Then its a matter of driving to almost any place that does repairs and tell them to fit it. BTW hold off on the coil overs, its not going to make the car turn better just make u try and drive quicker around a corner. Use the stock suspension to the limit and then upgrade, u will benefit a lot more.

^^ definition of a wanker, serious i reckon that a skyline with brand new exhaust is better that a 1970 corolla with a burnt out mufler. but wat ever ppl seem to think that if you got an exhaust you got plenty of money and time to deal with their crap. Oh well part of the joy of having skyline unlucky i guess

honestly everyone knows that its a defect so YOU will have to fix it. I'm not sure if you might go speak to the machnic that issued the RWC and make him pay the bill as he has passed it for RWC when the car is defected

plus its important to note when u driving down the free way at 2,800 rpm i'm sure that it is no where near 90db! it only when u are hitting the redline does the sound hit 90db. Db scale is expoential meaning that from 88, the 2 db required to get 90 would be 100% louder this is almost border line harassment!

Agree with you there! But having said if they do test your exhaust and it does exceed they will more than likely issue u a fine of approx 300-500 so its almost easier just to take it on the chin and test it if required

yer you got a point- but seriously if you need to go out you should be able to lol i reckon that over the next week just keep it low key until the "pipe down" is over. Plus if your exhaust is rediculous, well maybe you would get done regardless on which day of the week it is.

nar you are right 5 points in 1 yrs or 12 over 3 yr period, which ever is first. Plus if you got a turbo skyline u need have at least 3 points because if u get caught driving it by someone that knows things about cars, u loose 3 on the spot

lol dude ofcourse you can draft up a letter explaining the situation and civic compliance can take that into account. I doubt that you will get off all 3, but maybe one or two! make sure you get creative in the letter. if you have a good previous driving record they will take that into account too, but if its bad you may struggle. BTW- where was the speed camera?

there was a mobile epa station set up on tuesday around 3pm on springvale rd , next to the monash entrance careful guys- just a heads up!
