  1. I had them on a previous car, they were a pretty good balance of price, grip, road noise and wear. Actually I did have them very briefly on my current car on the 18's, only drove about 50km and since the car hadn't been registered/insured for about half of that I was taking it pretty easy I seem to remember they were the second cheapest tyre in stock size that had the right sizes available front and back but at that size and profile it's more the performance end of the market... My favourite tyres (previous car again) were Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's, heaps of grip, really quiet, excellent in the wet but cost a bit more. I tend to find if you care about performance with tyres, you are better off spending a bit more and getting something good, because if you get crap tyres you've got to put up with them for a long time. Tire rack I think is ok for a bit of research: Tirerack 2003 Infinity G35 For example Kumho KU31's aka Ecsta SPT's get a rating of 6.9 but are among much more expensive tyres with similar ratings.
  2. I think the screen must have a couple of modes, when my car arrived it seemed to be set to some sort of zoom mode so the 4:3 input filled the whole width and the top and bottom were cropped but I obviously pressed something and now it shows the full 4:3 screen with blank area each side to keep it proportional. Perhaps related to the quality? Will try the bottom left button next time I'm in the car
  3. I don't really get the point, seems to just be mounting a turbo towards the rear of the of the exhuast system where it is a little cooler but then you've got to have the plumbing all the way back to the front of the car? I'd think the air filter is likely to get more crap on it under the car and be more susceptible to damage too. Is the pipe back up to the front supposed to effectively replace an intercooler or something?
  4. Yeah I meant car battery rather than remote battery but if the lock is still there and you can get to it with a bit of effort, all good!
  5. 6MT Of course you can just turn VDC off but when the roads are wet I tend to leave it on.
  6. Finally managed to get mine and put it on, ended up putting it half on in the dark... Went for a drive and first impressions are good, VDC seems to improved which is what I was secretly hoping. When going from first to second in a manual flat out with VDC on, as you put it into second it usually feels like you've hit the brakes but it's more mild now, the power comes on quicker after VDC has done it's thing. So hopefully in the wet when accelerating from a standstill it will be improved too, will see how it goes when it rains. Sort of felt like there was a little bit more go and responsiveness but it could also be a placebo like effect, should become obvious with a bit more driving. Oh and some of those bolts for stock earthing points on the car are quite soft, don't give them too much torque
  7. /me starts thread Hey do you reckon we could get a V35 for sale section? j/k
  8. Perhaps the price of oil and therefore petrol is back below the point where ethanol is competitive price wise? (for now)
  9. I think you will also likely find that on cold mornings the car will run a lot more smoothly on startup, at least a previous car of mine did when the recycling was taken out of the equation. I'm guessing less fuel is burnt while the engine is getting up to normal operating temperature and the engine management doesn't take into account what is getting recycled and put less fuel in as a result, meaning normally the engine gets too much fuel until it is up to normal temp.
  10. Turning right the arc the path your car takes is bigger, can be taken at higher speed, more wear?
  11. As I posted before, when doing my whole car with it, I used Meguiars paint cleaner on the headlights as well and they came up great. Probably just got rid of built up wax and polish rather than oxidisation though.
  12. Now that the rain is starting to be a bit more regular in Perth I decided to get some new windscreen wipe blades as my existing ones were terrible and remembered this thread. So I got the Bosch Aerotwin ones, 600mm and 450mm as recommended and it's only been an afternoon but I'm happy with them! Weren't exactly cheap at about $54 for the pair but they work well and it seems they should last. It wasn't immediately obvious how to get the old ones off but basically there is a little latch thing between the arm that goes to the center of the blade and the blade assembly thing, press that and slide a couple of cm towards where the arm is bolted to the car. Didn't have any fitment issues like cookie--monster.
  13. Sorry... I mean, "Awesome, there is no way in the world that won't stop piracy, do we get the update tomorrow?!"
  14. Hmm good luck with that, I still don't see how that would stop it getting used in other cars, unless there is some unique ID stored in the car computer somewhere but I don't see why they would bother?
  15. ..or see if someone with the same colour wants to swap maybe? (colour could be marginally off depending how much sun it has seen but shouldn't be too bad)
  16. Nice car, good luck with the sale. Perhaps maybe put some more pics up though, only daylight picture is of the boot... show off those 20" rims etc?
  17. To quote someone I used to work with, was even more relevant because we were in the middle of the Pilbara at the time but "It's better to be looking at it than waiting for it"
