  1. well i have a stock rb20 with rb25 turbo, 3" turbo back exhaust (no cat), bosch 910 pump with surge tank, 600x300 fmic, safc II, manual boost controller (turbo tech) & thats it. gives a responsive 250hp atw, but larger turbo, injectors afm & nistune flash will be going on pretty soon.
  2. good stuff dude! great pics too.
  3. i had a evo 6 for 2years or so, it was the first evo 6 evo imports sold. it was there compliance test car & so was in excellent stock condition. i did the usual mods (zorst, piggyback ecu, ebc, intake, coilies, chassis braces). in the end it put out 300hp at all 4 it had heaps of response/bottom end but midrange/topend was seriously lacking, so not my kind of 'fun' turbo car. handling & roadholding was great as well as reliability - nothing ever broke or wore out in 40k kms of my ownership. now lets compare 6/7 (hardly any differences really with the 6/tme, mainly cosmetic) evo 6 has slightly bigger turbine housing (same size as 8MR) evo 6 weighs 1360kg, evo 7 weighs 1400kg so not a lot of difference at all there evo 7 has slightly longer wheelbase & slightly wider track. also stock rims are 17x8 as opposed to 17x7.5 evo 7 has stronger rear diff, some people can have issues with the evo6 diff & then upgrade to the later one evo 7 has much better recaro seats than the ones in the 6 - much better lateral support. evo 7 ECU can easily be reflashed, evo 6 can only be done by 1 person in SA. evo 7 has nicer steering wheel. 35k is way too much for a stock evo 7 from a dealer. you should be able to get a very nice one for around 28 or so. evo imports (& the other main evo dealer) can afford to have asking prices in the higher ranges cause they get plenty of 'walk ins' that will pay those numbers & because the cars are ready to go. the warranties are very limited in actual payout amounts for each type of fault. cheers
  4. anyone have any knowlege of the ceramic turbines used in the apexi RX6 & AX53b70 turbos? i assume they are of a far better design/composition, being fairly recent compared to the rb stockers? thanks
  5. 3 water lines? nah there should be 2 from the turbo, one goes to the front of the motor somewhere & the other one (which is what im asking about) goes to the back of the head so i know theres one water line that goes to the back of the engine/head but how does it connect to TWO water lines? does the kit supplied braided water line have a tee? or can you connect to 1 hose & blank off the other one (thats at the back as well) ?
  6. ok one more question whats the go with these 2 water lines that branch off the steel water line from the turbo? the line from the turbo is in the bottom right hand corner & the 2 rubber hoses connect to the steel tee piece from the turbo. does the braided line in the kit have a tee piece as well to connect to these 2 hoses?
  7. i love the way mine revs, very smooth, almost like a rotary turbo upgrade soon should provide more grunt
  8. i read in a recent thread on here that a dodgey tps will make the ecu default to a 1500rev idle? are you sure you have wound the adjusting screw far enough in? mine was siezed & it wasnt till i undid it all the way out, sprayed wd40 on it that i could actually wind it in far enough to get a 600rev idle
  9. you can see the screw from the drivers side of the engine bay. all you need is a flat blade screwdriver to turn the screw, clockwise (winding it in) will reduce the idle speed. best to adjust it when the car is at operating temp cheers
  10. yes i would install the main brg studs
  11. thanks a heap i never would have found it without that info. it was seized up, but a bit of wd40 fixed it. i set the idle to 600, even had it ticking over at about 400 no probs. cheers
  12. where is the idle stepper located? i have a r32 silvertop. is it the round thing about the size of a D size battery with wires coming out of it thats mounted on the top rear of the intake manifold? or is it the thing that looks like a diaphragm with hoses coming out of it below the throttle body? (doubt it) either way i cant find any adjusting screw
  13. how about knocking 100revs or so off the idle? i tried the screw in the front of the ecu, but it did squat. mine sits at about 1000/950 which i find a bit annoying :|
  14. if it means less restiction & turbulence after the turbo then yes it should help. depends what you have there now i spose.
  15. well from the few dyno sheets ive seen with this turbo on a rb20, they seem to hit about 17psi around at around 110km/h. one chart with a rb22 was hitting that boost at 100km/h. i dont know what revs that is i assumed 4000 to 4500? 5000revs seems a bit high?
  16. agreed & if there was a spacer there would be 2 gaskets. going by that pic I shouldnt need one?
  17. 4k sounds about right from me guestimating from other charts ive seen that read road speed not revs (around 100kmp/h in 4th gear) tbh 280hp atw at 17psi sounds a bit low to me, but could be the dyno or other factors? im making 250 now & im hoping for 50+hp more not just 30? are you running a cat & what dump is it? cheers
  18. nice! good looking boost curve too. so are you sure you have that t3 spacer installed in there? i cant see it in yur foto. cheers
  19. sorry post edited, answered my own question (dont know how to delete post)
  20. i thought he was interested in comparing what happens at the crank with different turbo combinations on rb's, the road speed will just be a result of a bunch of other things that he might not want to change.
  21. i would have thought there's not much point comparing a sr to rb20, the longer stroke will allways give much better low end grunt for the same boost i would have thought
  22. yes that is valid, except looking at torque curves vs rpm is just as good a comparison as road speed imo.
  23. yeah i understand what the spacer is for, but in that pic i can see the turbine t3 flange, gasket & what looks like the exhaust manifold flange - or is the 2nd gasket & 5mm spacer there? also the studs have about the same amount of thread showing as my stock setup (suggesting no 5mm spacer?) cheers
  24. heres my boost curve. stock r32 rb20 with stock rb25 turbo. full boost 14psi at about 3800 revs ive just bought a apexi ax53B70-p25 to replace this one
