  1. Nene, you know better than most that I've had a gutful of some motives around here, but I got your back. If you need the extra numbers give me a holler!
  2. Yep ... my house was built in just over 9 weeks also. Of course, back then there wasn't such a high demand for property development.
  3. Watch out for those bikers, they're a strange kind How about Vilis for lunch tomorrow? or dinner? ... or PM me your number and we'll work something out. Nah, I was only breathing heavy
  4. Tiny Jap people!
  5. I would certainly turn down the job I wouldn't have the time nor the patience.
  6. I have two houses and two Stageas ... plus 4 bikes! I don't see the problem!
  7. It would be good for some Mod to come and rep SAU, but we can't force them too can we? Everyone is entitled to an opinion, including the Mods.
  8. Cara, I'm late in saying this, but I'll be a definite entry! Can I get my form and money to you tomorrow for the posting off on Friday? I'm not scared of police. I can bring a gazebo thingy and portable BBQ .. it'll all fit nicely in the back of the wagon p.s. yes, that was me on the bike on South Road about a week ago waving at you ... not some random trying to pick you up. p.p.s. you really should remove the pic in your sig
  9. It will never be a whole group unfortunately Luke. This is why SAU will never have its own SA club. I've just been saying about how members complain nothing ever gets done, and when an attempt is made to do something members are still negative. Members even turned on their own over hoodies for f**ks sake. So how are we going to go fighting for better rights and a fair go on the road ... from what I've seen, we don't stand a chance. So do we only fight for our rights when we know we can win? Be negative if it looks too hard? Shy away from a real fight? Stay behind our keyboards and talk tough? Seems the SAU SA way to me. There are very few members here I know who have bigger balls than the remaining members outright. Kell, Nene and I took on discussion with the cops the day of the last cruise and no one was defected. I'd rather attend a cruise anyday where the organiser won't split/shy away and leave you hanging when cops come. Cops attended our cruises uninvited and we immediate addressed them and kept the other members/cruisers out of the attention of the police. Kell, Nene and I have no idea if we'd win the discussion with the police, but we didn't shy away and no one was defected. Kell and I have grown tired of the unwarranted negativity of SAU members and no longer run events/cruises. Mega kudos to Nene for not giving up and carrying on the fight. She's a new-ish member and a girl and has shown more enthusiasm than anyone else I know. I'll assist where I can in a minor role, but I'm not on the front line anymore. Can't lead a group anymore who ain't "got your back". Police won't take us seriously if we can't stand together, even when you know its not a win situation. I think its good that only a selected few attend these talks. With you and Pete now as Moderators is the only reason I've stuck around. I wanna see if the SAU negative population will change their ways.
  10. What about the modifications to the body of the car!!!
  11. He has nothing to do with alot around here. Nick Xenophon does more for the State than Media Mike. Its funny that Media Mike is running scared at the moment due to the Freedom club
  12. Nene, if you need someone to knock up or edit a letter to an MP or other party, you know I correspond with Governments and COurts all the time. I'm proficient in document production and reports also, so keep that in mind.
  13. Everyone I know of who didn't display P plates had their licence suspended for 3 months or so, but that was years ago. It is 'probation' afterall. Think you'll be getting a notice in the mail. Maybe they're more lenient now. Can anyone else clarify?
  14. As long as he keeps working within the parameters of the law and import drivers continue to mod outside the parameters of the law, yes. For the record, I've seen far more hoons in imports than cops in patrol cars... unfortunately.
  15. I picked up my Stagea from Sydney importers and drove it back. Also done the trip again, and thrown in a drive to Canberra and Melbourne too Drive from Sydney thru Wagga (stay the night if you have to), drive to Mildura (stay the night if you have to), and then down to Adelaide. Will take about 18 hours, so break it up and stay the night in either Wagga or Mildura. Overnight stay is cheap ... dozing off and crashing isn't. Can we stay on topic please Andrew This isn't wasteland you know!
  16. You're way off mate ... read the thread
  17. They're 2 riders we can do without.
  18. Not sure if the Council can entice the owner of AIR to re-open it soon. The owner of AIR also owns another drag strip interstate, and thats where all the money is going, so AIR is becoming derelict. Petitioning the owner of AIR to re-open it isn't working ... we've tried that. We'd have to convince him somehow that AIR can get the numbers up to make the revenue he is looking for, but unfortunately from the years I entered and spectated the numbers were not that great. The leaders and opposition in this State are media junkies for sure. But there are alot of people down the ranks in administration (private and public) who are doing the better work for the State. You'd be surprised how many projects/proposals get held back by the media junkies (Media Mike in particular) because its not great publicity for them. Remember the submarine and war destroyer contract? My mate was a project officer for that proposal and worked hard for the companies Ratheon and AWD to make the project fit the State budget. Everytime he got it within budget, Rann would push for a lower budget. Ratheon won the contract over some Spanish company and my mate was brushed aside as Rann stood in front of the media taking all the glory, making it look like he did something for the State. It was the private sector, not the public sector, that made the deal. My mate lost sleep, his social life and his marriage to make this work! Yet Rann was the one who almost jeopardised the project's success. Media Mike is a tosser for sure. btw when I say "educated" I mean there are some of us who can see the underlying factors behind what influences what and why things get done in the state. Keep an open mind is all I'm saying
  19. Its human nature Vu. People want to complain and be noticed then have people agree with them. People would easily believe something bad will happen before something good will happen. I pity them. I approached selected members here months ago about approaching the media and working on improving (even if ever so slightly) the image of some import drivers, but that idea was not supported by a majority. There was no way I could do this without the support of key players.
  20. Thankfully some of us are educated enough to see the big picture. Economics was always one of my favourite subjects at Uni. And working where I do being involved in projects all over SA shows the benefits of proper urban/project planning and how it benefits the state. The government is interested in saving lives of course ... it looks good for re-election. The road toll is lower and the state infrastructure just got a big boost ... so whats the problem again? Oh, a car scene wants us to fund a venue? But what about the new hospital they're going to build? To stay in power, you satisfy the majority of the population, and frankly, a car club doesn't have the numbers to swing votes. Especially when they know that most of the people screaming for a venue will never use it. Our hospitals are not keeping up with demand. Our roads are not keeping up with demand and the growing population. Our schools are still poorly funded. But you want a drag strip? Leave it to small business. Target the current AIR owner.
  21. For the record, the police were never "invited" to my cruises. They turned up and we played fair. But thats not the view that some members had. In any case, like Kell, I'm done with cruises. There was more to the story and we were preventing from having our say. But for what its worth, I had no problem with the police turning up. Got something to hide? Leave your car in the garage for the rest of its life ... or shut up and just drive. Which is the issue I'd like Nene to proxy for me at the meeting: true car enthusiasts respect the law, but we are also aware it is hard for them to identify the true car enthusiast. Some kind of honesty system (such as mod plates) should be employed, to show the enthusiasts who want to follow the rules, but still like to mod their car. Alot of owners are not out to modify their car to go fast, drift or drag race traffic. Just like you'd renovate your house to suit your taste, so too do car owners mod to their taste. If the mods are unsafe, then a defect is warranted. If the mod is minor, then depending on the mod, a warning is fair. But if there is nothing to defect, then there is no reason to defect. The biggest issue is what do police consider a defect? This varies from officer to officer and its the luck of the draw who you get pulled over by ... this is not how the law should be. Its not entirely fair to send a car to Regency on suspicion of a defect. But who decides? Let mod plates do the talking. I also vote Kellie to attend the meeting, due to her reputation with the police, her knowledge and experiences with cruises, and because love her or hate her, she's done the best things for SAU SA. Due to her reputation with SAU SA, it would look weak if Kell was not attending the meeting. The Police reps would wonder why she's not standing by a club who are meant to be as innocent as it claims to be. My 2c worth.
  22. Forgot to mention ... blue R32 dickhead at the Arndale Shops. I think this fool was the one Ryan was on about. If you're a member here, I was the motorcyclist you cut off then gave the finger too. Lets catch up soon shall we?
  23. I agree with you totally. Don't get me wrong. I see benefits in the govt assisting to get AIR back open. However, as far as the economy goes, its good to see the govt making money, not losing it. Otherwise we see more motorist-targetted revenue like rego increases and higher fines. The govt couldn't justify increases in rego for all motorists to cover an AIR project when barely 0.5% would actually use it. Investing in projects like Hindmarsh Stadium or Tour Down Under etc makes money, or at least better money than AIR, so I can understand why they never went thru with their interest in AIR. But at this time, they do not own or have anything to do with AIR, so saying the govt should do something about it is really quite pointless, when they have far better investments for the state to make. Thats what I mean about having to sell the interest to the government: AIR must look like an attractive investment (either monetary or community benefits) for them to do something about it. However I'm sure the govt see us as sulking children crying on about "we only have hoons because we do not have AIR", which is rubbish ... I remember clearly seeing far more hoons on the road than entrants at the drags, long before AIR became an issue. The death toll is lower this year, and the hoon drivers are adding revenue. Hence, its not the govt's problem, there are things far higher on the agenda.
  24. Too true. I've always encountered good cops, but I did encounter one bad cop some years ago. Defected my bike for indicators! I wasn't disputing that my bike wasn't defectable (full race system and noisy back then, and a number plate mod/undertail) but he did me for indicators which were perfectly legal! His attitude was to send me to Regency for ANYTHING and let them sort me out. Regency also had a laugh when I turned up, they couldn't believe the "rubbish they're doing you for nowdays". I copped the defect on the chin however, but I wasn't tolerating his attitude. He was rude, almost caused an accident, and slyly worked on antagonising me with "I know you're type" and other unnecessary comments. I reported him thru the standard process and he had in fact been an unpopular cop so I found out. Still don't think badly of cops, just that one. Rarely are there assholes, and they are only following orders afterall. Yeah, old school cops got the job done. Now they can't say boo to you without being "investigated" so drivers push their luck over and over. Crims and hoons seem to have more rights than they do doing their job. A good flogging however would sort them out. Sled for President! Enuf said
  25. It is an actual saying, not a movie quote. Heard it when I lived in japan ... so it must be authentic!
