FAIL for the cop who tried to pull me over last night Took Tracy out for a 'date' on the Brutale and we had no probs all night. 2 streets from home I need to make a left at roundabout and then right at roundabout and then pull up my drive halfway down the road. As I'm approaching the first aroundabout to make a left turn, I see a cop car 150m ahead past the roundabout sitting at a side street. He sees my single headlight ("you beauty, a motorcycle to pull over") and turns towards me instead of away from me like he had indicated. I do my left turn, and just before the right turn at the next roundabout I check my mirrors and see him turning to follow me, and he's hiking it. I do the right turn and give it a squirt to my drive way and pull up. Security light comes on so I'm visible for all to see. The cop car slooooowly drive past my place and he stops for a moment as I'm getting my helmet and gloves off. I'm telling Tracy "wait for it, Mr Quota will do anything for a free feed". Cop drives of real slow and I wave to him and yell "maybe next time". Then he stops near the end of my street and he's looking back at me an awful long time. Then he drives off. Fail. What annoyed me was: all he saw was a single headlight coming down the road, yet decided he was going to pull me over. Now he would have been hiking it to catch me in that amount of time. 11pm speeding around a suburban area for the chance of a free feed. I'd done nothing wrong, but he would have hauled me up to fill his quota. Good luck with that champ.

Better that than never I guess. Try the Rydges South Park corner of West and South Terrace right on the edge of the city CBD.

The old broken shoulder is coming back to haunt me. Been shoveling dirt and getting the final stages of the pool ready. Why did I buy a big f**king pool? Shoulder (more particularly the collar bone) is aching a tad right now. Obviously not completely healed. Plus my hands hurt. Hang on, I've got some bags of cement out the back still ... I'll go get a tea spoon and be right back! Lining is in. Tomorrow/Wednesday I start filling her up while I sort out the pump and filter unit. Pics from the weekend ... I'll be in my pool over xmas if anyone wants me

Damn, I've gotten more injuries on dirt than on bitumen. I use to ride alot down Sellicks Hill, and that surface hurts when you crash on it. Come off a few times belting around the Pooraka kart track and doesn't hurt a bit

I just put motard tyres on my 140cc thumper. Get motard tyres on yours and bring it out to Pooraka I guess I could put the knobbies back on. Been meaning to ride some more dirt.

I can't tell with the audio on that link. However, the fan cannot spin faster than the engine. How many kms has the car done? Your water pump could be rooted by coincidence and thats where the noise is coming from? Would explain the squeak too. The actuator is on your turbo. Remove the heat shielding and make sure all linkages are still connected. If the c-clip has come off the actuator rod to the wastegate arm, then its likely the wastegate is open fully. Make sure also that the actuator has its two bolts securing it to the turbo housing. A wastegate stuck open will also generate more engine noise, as the turbo is not helping to 'muffle' the exhaust noise.

Same here. A litter of 4 were found years ago. $30 each please! I kept one and the others were adopted by friends. $120 to do the right thing? WTF Plus they charge something like $155 to sell them to new owners. $185 per kitten they make. Why don't they just put on police uniforms while they're at it.

Stagea ... now on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=190275618062

RSPCA are useless. I took a wounded dog to the RSPCA and they wouldn't deal with it. They said they would take it in but the dog would need to be put down and they'd charge me some $47 to take it off me!!! WTF? Talk about animal abuse ... they're the biggest offenders!

What are you waiting for Damo

The cricket?

He's already considered that. Doesn't explain the other 3 problems. 1. Is your water pump on its way out? 2. You say the car runs smooth but not making boost? Check the wastegate wasn't jammed open from exhaust swap. 3. Sure the squeak is not coming from a loose fan belt etc? 4. Check your hose that runs to the brake booster. I can't understand how an exhaust swap would affect your fan or boost, unless the wastegate is open for whatever reason.

Thanks. So my title is still secure? I'd have to start getting a bit more creative otherwise

Dammit. Lost the title of 'most random useless thread topic'.

True. LOL for silly thread

Was interested in the thread about Top Gear Australia, but its been closed for whatever reason. Claimed repost, but not in SA section. We got NSW guys closing SA threads now? Matty, got pulled over by the police twice last night after you and ya friends left The cops were definitely on a blitz with bikes last night. 4 guys I know got defects. Cops had nothing on me Thats why I paid a nice price for the Brutale. A Ferrari on 2 wheels, cops didn't know where to start One cop complained about the "loud" pipes, but all the pipes are stamped with MV Agusta numbers, so its all legal. Another cop tried to pin me for mods that don't exist. I told him its totally stock, even the Ohlins shock is factory fitted and CF parts are MV Agusta numbered. Told ya I'd go play with them. Its fun riding into the lion's den during a blitz

Congrats Craig I popped the question to Tracy about 3 months ago in a dark house with no power The ring cost me almost as much as the house Kiss your freedom goodbye

Can you think of a P plater stupid enough to play up in front of a cop? Should be restrictions for bad driving, not rewards for good driving. They gotta show consistency. Like getting a job, being on probation and the boss sees you do one good thing at the right time and you get a pay rise ... doesn't happen I think some people need an understanding of the word "probation".

Timing could be way out? Did you plug everything in properly?

Its called "divorce" and having the freedom to do what you want without some nagging bitch saying "I don't like it!"

If it has turbo, you can crash it faster. Here's a story from 3 years ago. Its bike related, but it still applies to restricting access to powerful cars. On December 26th (my birthday) in 2005, I was driving back with some friends to my place after bowling to continue my birthday party at my place with some drinking. Just 100m from my doorstep was the scene of a horrific bike crash. Blue Yammy R1 (1000cc sportsbike) was totalled and police were at the scene. It was apparent it happened a while ago and the rider had already been taken away. I parked at home and went to the scene fearing it was a mate who was dropping in on me for my birthday. I get back to the scene and some witnesses said it was a 17yo named Simon. I don't know anyone named Simon at that age. I was informed, the rider overtook a car at high speed (witnesses put speed at over 80kph in a 50kph zone) but clipped the car and was thrown into a street light pole and thru the fence of a house. The rider died at the scene. He was wearing a cheap helmet and that was it (shorts and tshirt mostly). The rider was being followed by friends all crammed into a Commonwhore and when the crash occured they legged it (some friends huh?) but not before witnesses got the rego. Now my first question was "what the hell was a 17yo doing riding an R1?". I helped the police identify the motorcycle as a powerful Yamaha YZF-R1 1000cc sportsbike. The police informed me the rider was a Learner and should not have been on that bike. Young, dumb and full of cum ... he got on a bike he was not licensed to ride, not skilled to ride, not experienced to ride ... I was only thankful he didn't have a passenger. He died showing off ... that scenario sound familiar? A common trend? I had since found out, he misled his parents that he could ride an R1 when he got off his Ls (which is rubbish) ... so his parents bought him the R1 with the rule that he didn't ride it until off his Ls. There is no way he could legally ride that bike for almost 12 months after coming off a non-learner licence limited to restricted bikes. His parents went away for Christmas and told him not to touch the R1 ... "sure mom!". Obviously the friends came over and he had to show off and become a stat. The law was there for a reason ... to protect fools like him from power they can't handle. You think you can, but the reality is: you cannnot! A few months later, I get a letter in my letterbox asking me not to ride my bike down a particular street, because the parents of the deceased get upset hearing a motorcycle ride past. WTF You bought your son the deathtrap and I had nothing to do with his death. A week or so later, I pulled up my on my bike, got my helmet and gloves off, put the bike away in the garage. As I'm coming out of the garage, a car pulls up and the male driver (father of the deceased teen hoon!) starts having a go at me for riding past their house (which was not intentional, I had no idea where they live). Well, I gave him some facts back: "You bought him the deathtrap, not me! You left your son with the keys to a powerful sportsbike and foolishly left him unsupervised. You didn't do your homework and find out what he could legally ride. Why didn't you just buy him a gun?". He got angry back and rambled on a bit and eventually broke down. I got him sat down and got him a drink and we chatted for a while. Awkward, but I do know what its like to lose someone so valuable in your life. He went away seeing things more clearly and not hating the world so much. Been there done that. And I did feel sorry for him. Didn't like being told how/where to ride, nor the fact his son did something so stupid ... but I did feel sorry for his loss. It would be a year later that a good friend would be killed on her bike. Very experienced rider, but on a new bike she was not familiar with, and didn't react in time when a pedestrian walked out in front of her in an 80kph zone.
