Being Told To Open The Bonnet After Being Pulled Over
Astro Bear replied to Astro Bear's topic in Victoria
Does anyone know where I can site the relevant piece of legislation that refers to vehicle searches / police powers with regard to the searching of vehicles? Cheers -
Hi guys, I had an interesting experience earlier in the week, when I was pulled over as part of a "random check". My girlfriend was driving the car at the time, he breath tested her and checked her licence etc. All good. When he found out it was my car he stated asking me what modifications had been done etc, I replied and told him that for the most part it was pretty stock. My car looks very stock from the outside, no rims or bodykits etc, it hardly ever gets any attention. However, it does have an exhaust and a front mount which are visible externally. He asks me to pop the bonnet, which I did. The officer then noted the pod filter and boost controller in the engine bay. In all fairness, the officer was a pretty good bloke, he knew what he was looking for and went about his business in a pretty professional manner. At the end of the day I was in the wrong for having those modifications. The officer didn't defect me or anything, however, he did tell me that I should expect a letter in the mail from the EPA in the future. Naturally, the officer was doing his job, and I obviously deserve this. However, reflecting back on the experience, i'm curious to know under what circumstances an officer can look under the hood of your car. I've been told that the officer must have "reasonable suspicion" that there is something illegal going on, but looking back, I'm hard pressed to know what suspicions could have been formed in the officer's head, particularly given that my car looks so stock. Obviously the common sense approach is to comply with the officer's request and be polite etc, however, at the same time, i think it is important to know your rights. So, my question is: Under what circumstances an officer can look under the hood of your car? Thanks guys, happy motoring.

Where did I say I wanted to turn my intecooler into a Blitz / HKS / ARC branded item? If you don't have anything nice / contributory to say, don't say anything at all. Cheers guys,

Hey guys, I was looking at my car earlier this morning and I thought to myself, a stencil on my intercooler would look really cool. Has anyone done anything similar to this? I'm not sure if it can be done, but I'm really wanting to create a stencil of Astro Boy, similar to the image in my avatar. Might be incredibly time consuming to do, but i'm keen on doing it. Does anyone have any pointers or ideas that could help me? Has anyone done anything like this before? Thanks guys. Adam

R33 Series 2 Bodykit!
Astro Bear replied to krzysiu's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
YES! Consider the pods sold! PM sent -
Spotted an R35 GTR on the eastern freeway this morning. Gave the guy a wave and got one back. Never has a car made my heart beat so fast. It was so amazingly beautiful. I'm in love lol.

That's incredible! Perhaps you could check out whether the buildings had any surveillance cameras? I would imagine there would be a good chance of this?

As a general rule, it is arguable that Alcohol, or rather the excess consumption of Alcohol is the main culprit in the recent spike in Violence in Melbourne; particularly when considering the violence that is occuring on a Friday / Saturday night in the CBD. Having read through the entire thread, I can see the main contentions revolve around increasing police numbers / creating new government policies / harsher penalties etc. I would argue that it is the nightclub owners / managers need to take more responsibility in terms of the serving of alcohol, particularly to those who may already be intoxicated. After all, this is where the alcohol is being dispensed. If it is anywhere where harsher penalties should be implemented, it is within the bar, to establishments who clearly break the rules by serving alcohol irresponsibly.

I couldn't agree more. Totally hit the nail on the head. Tough love is the answer. Perhaps being conscripted into the armed forces could give some young people some new perspective?

Will do, thanks Basti

We don't live in Japan, we live in Australia where the Nissan Skyline is commonly identified as a sports / performance car. To put an Commodore Executive and a Mitsubishi Lancer in the same category as a Nissan skyline (in any of its varieties) is nothing short of a joke. Contrary to previous statements in this thread, I think you'll find that the Committee probably could have pleased everyone in formulating a design, perhaps by ensuring that the primary focus remained on the identification of Skylines Australia Victoria (i.e the Club), and not on a specific type of vehicle that perhaps only 30-40% of the club actually own. My understanding is that the Committee is an elected body chosen to represent the interests of all SAU VIC members (please correct me if i'm wrong). Regardless of whether you drive a GTS, GTS-T or GTR, we all belong to the same organisation, and presumably pay the same membership fee. My only argument is that if we are going to pay to be involved in the club, then the design of clothing / any other merchandise should reflect the interests of everybody, and not only a select few. My intention in contributing to this thread isn't to start a shit-fight, but rather to provide some food for thought, particularly when the design of the next round of hoodies is being considered / formulated (pre-supposing another batch will be produced). I can only hope that my comments are taken on board.

That's odd, I didn't realise this was the SAU VIC GTR club. I guess driving a GTS-T doesn't constitute driving a "Skyline" anymore?

Any other opinions?

Hi Guys, I'm thinking of painting my r33 gts-t wheels a matt black / charcoal finish. Can anyone do some photoshop work on these pictures? If anyone can make the standard wheels pictured a nice black colour, that would be great. That way I can see when theyre gonna look like before I take the plunge. Thanking you in advance.

Just realised this should be in the comp art section. sorry guys. I shall repost there, so if anyone has anything to add to this thread, you will find it there. Cheers.

Hi guys, Just wanting some opinions. I have a s2 r33 in white. I've always been a fan of black rims on white cars, but my budget doesn't extend to a new set of rims unfortunately. I'm thinking of having my stock r33 rims sprayed black. Has anyone done this? Any pics etc? I've attached some pics of my car in its current form, for any keen photoshoppers out there. Thanks for your input everyone.
