  1. Ok the 18k to 20k are offen 1989 or 90 models std with very few mods and plenty of km's, so they require a lot of attention to get them up to a reliable performance level. The GTR up around 28k to 30k will tend to be 1992 to 94 or have been rebuilt or maybe even had some series upgraded installed. So generaly this cars you can just enjoy and don't tend to have to do a lot just for reliable. In the end both units will tend to cost you about the same as the cheapy will not be so cheap, if a few things fail. BIGGEST TIP what ever you do try your best to allow to replace the std turbos (even before concidering a rebuild) because a turbo failure can and offen does damage the motor and then your looking at big money. If you can't replace the std turbo's DO NOT turn the boost above about 12psi. pete

  3. timing belt is a must if you don't know how old it is i would change the head gasket of pistons just for the sack of it (but did you do a compression check before removing the engine)if the test was ok leave it, as 1.2 bar on gt-ss will not over power the internals. Might be a good idea to flow the blocks water jackets to remove any build up or scale. pete
  4. Don't be to worried about cooler as i'm stillrunning std cooler quiet happily, the clutch is the first concern.
  5. JUST dont use std turbo what ever you do ,as a full motor rebuild are costly and i have seen three motors killed by failing std turbos in the last 18months. If your going to the effort to build such a motor get some turbos you can trust. SK i love this chart as you know none believes i could be running std fuel pump on my gtr but if i have std reg and only up to 20 psi by this chart the gtr pump good for nearly 240litres per hour and is not far off match for the 700cc injectors i'm running what bhp is that sort of flow good for?
  6. high 11's alot depending the hp your making and how well the car setup will launch ie tyres, clutch, and how hard your going to be on it. cefiro_pwa =got no idea as usual (take a look at the timeslip times verse hp in this forum) these car are all cross australia unless we all can't drive (or are we going to get the Quote "my mates car" )
  7. yeah sound good in theory BUT i stop tuning awhile ago for one very important reason STD internals when we made 500rwhp so easily and had really had that as a goal (I was actually aiming 450 believe it or not) I then decided not to go any further until I do a forged internal build up, so maybe later this year or early next year i may turn up the wick and see what is really possible from this combo. pete

Dude which turbos are you think of as i would becarefull as the gt2560r as a special design as by just grabbing any all garret you may not get the result you wish for (ie the difference between the hks 2530/2540 would seem little) but the 2540 are not a good turbo in terms of responce on a gtr.

  11. the gt2560r and hks 2530 are both rated at 320hp both 0.60ar compressor and 0.64ar turbine and compressor wheel design is the only really difference, so there should very little reason the gt2560r and hks 2530 wouldn't produce similar bhp and from what mine and ricks gtr produce it looks to prove rule in the real world. mine 529.4rwhp 20psi ulimate 98 (gt2560r) 11.3 sec 1/4 mile ricks ~550rwhp 25psi c16 race fuel (hks 2530) from memory 11.5 1/4 mile pete

  15. What ever GTR you BUY please do yourself a favour and apply to replace the std turbos asap you it could really cost you big dollars( replace the turbos and you'll be a happy chap) no matter what you buy pete

  17. Can you access to a really straight edge adge and feeler gauges if so lay the straight edge accross the head or block and see if the feeler gauge ( 1 or 2 thou) will go under the straight edge anywhere on the head simple really pete

Jagr33 very nice I copied the shit that it can't have done that but you have prove it that a nice combo well tuned, will make the numbers and the only different i see is that i got garrets and jagr33 is running trust turbos. Good shit and enjoy as i have done hehe. Whats 2.1 rwhp between friends you must be loving buying the tomie poncams cams YES?HEHEHE

  23. look i have seen three rb26 motor damaged in the last 12 to 18 months by this NO if but or maybe It happen offen i didnt believe until i saw it then another and another Don't believe me if you like your MATE may pay a very big price for it I surgest you talk to some other tuners etc that have had experience with running std gtr hard and you will find the FIRST thing they will tell you to lose the std turbos before they fail.
