  1. just one thing ... Yav also mentioned that the car may misfire at higher rpms with bigger gap (and non stock boost). But for me that's not really an issue as a very rarely go above 4000rpm anyway (daily driver)
  2. yep black r34 .. if it's misfiring at idle and up to 3000rpms (popcorn sounds and vibrations with each pop) get them to increase the gap to 0.9 or 1mm (1mm worked for me .. its perfect now)
  3. just wanted to update this ... the valve lifter tapping is completely gone after my service ie. thicker oil (Hi-Tec 10W40) so I'm pretty happy
  4. Took it back to unigroup and as soon as Yavuz heard the popping at idle and low revs he said "yep it's misfiring" .. and that it's due to the small gap (0.75mm) so they regapped the spark plugs to 1mm and no more misfire/popping sounds ;-) Best of all ..they did it all for free! That's good service. Cheers.
  5. I dont think ebay links work on SAU..
  6. all I've been told the latest fix was the "high pressure hose" so I assume it's the same thing as yours ... so for anyone reading this in the future - check this hose/pipe first
  7. I've been waiting since the 10th of July for any sort of confirmation .. just got the first PM from them saying the 'bilstein engineer was away on holiday for 2 weeks'. I guess that means a few more weeks wait for both of us
  8. I have no idea which plugs they put in ... I'm taking the car back to unigroup to have a listen to this. Could it be due to old fuel? car's been at the shop for was 2 weeks and only 1/4 of tank of fuel sitting in it
  9. hm are you sure this is missfire? I searched for "Popping" last night and read a lot of older discussions and a lot of people seem to be under the impression that these popping sounds are normal on skylines and a few said it's probably due to running rich in that rev range .. no mentions of missfire anywhere.
  10. 0.75 I think they said the new plugs are ... the car never missfired according to my tuner (different guy to those who changed the plugs)
  11. could it be that the car is just running a bit rich in the lower revs and its dumping the excess fuel in the exhaust ?
  12. Just got the car back from a big-ish service incl all oils changed, fuel filters, gapped spark plugs etc and noticed that if I rev the engine and hold rpm somewhere between 1500 and 2500 rpm (I didn't try higher because I didn't want to attract attention to myself..) while the car is sitting idle in neutral, there's a muffled popping sound followed by a small shake (drive seat shakes noticably) every few seconds ..sometimes more than one in a row. Like popcorn starting to pop ..just more muffled sound, and each pop shakes the car a bit. Is this just the exhaust note or should I be worried ? Detonation? Car's ecu was tuned before the service and it was NOT pinging/detonating... The car's an R34 GTT with a turbo-back exhaust with a 3" catback (HKS SilentPower) I never noticed this before but then again I never held the engine at 1500rpm for a few seconds before either..
  13. don't think so .. iirc the rear is 10mm lower from factory so if your front is 340mm rear should be 330mm ? Edit: oh yeah thanks for ignoring my PMs and every attempt to contact you SydneyKid in regards to my suspension package that I paid for 4 weeks ago. Good too see you're keeping busy answering random questions, but can't spare 30 seconds to let a customer know what is happening with their goods. GRR.
  14. I have a GTT with a stock (but remapped, not too lean 11.5 I think for AFRs) ecu, stock turbo at 11psi (greedy profecb) and turbo back exhaust and the car makes about 190rwkw at unigroup.
  15. this is probably a very stupid question .. but none of these aftermarket steering wheel support the standard airbag right ??
  16. its too late .. i'm not gonna ask for any money back because unigroup spent a shitload of time trying to diagnose the issue. It ended up costing me approx $600 to get the pump fixed (labour plus parts) when it probably MAY have cost < $100 if only they checked this high pressure hose first. What can you do?? I know unigroup spent a lot of time diagnosing the issue (even though unsuccessfully) and they were billed for inlet/outlet hoses and pump rebuild by the 'specialist' so they have to pass on those costs even though probably neither were necessary and it was just this 'high pressure hose' to start with. So my advice to you ... before they start 'rebuilding pump' or anything major, get them to flush your fluids and replace the hoses incl high pressure hose as those are cheap and easy to do. If it still squeal then you may need a pump rebuild...
  17. have you got any example photos of work you've done just for front windshield stickers? i could only find one on your web site ... "a transparent black can be done" - could you please explain what you mean by that? What sort of cost am I looking at .. ball park figure?
  18. looks like it turned out to be some sort of "high pressure hose" .. whatever that is. Doesn't seem to be squealing anymore .. but I'll know for sure in a couple of days when i've had a chance to start it when engine is complete cold.
  19. I have a black R34 and wanted to put a black sticker accross the top of front windshield .. I want it black fading down to visible through like a factory tint, with some writing in the middle (no colour, just cutout letters) Any sydney shop that does stuff like this? By the way, what'd the max legal height of the sticker from the top of the windshield? I know there's a limit so as not to reduce visibility but since tints are legal at the top I am guessing stickers must be too but within some sort of limit
  20. hey matt I ordered and paid for my package approx. 4 weeks ago .. your initial estimates were 3-5 days to get the stuff to me. I don't have so much as a confirmation that my order and payment have been received. What's going on mate? I'm starting to get worried.
  21. the sound from what I understood is coming from the pump itself as it's cavitating .. but they're unable to find the cause for the cavitation, having rebuilt the pump (twice) and put in new inlet/outlet hoses. 10 days i've been without my baby .. I've agreed to leave it with them until monday, if they can't fix it, I'm taking it back anyway. Getting a bit depressed driving my parents' auto corolla
  22. imo black rims on a silver r34 look awesome .. but to make it even better, get a black/cf aftermarket bonnet and side mirrors. There's a car on here .. can't remember the name of the poster, that looks exactly like that .. it is HOT.
  23. ah .. I think I get what GeeeTR meant now .. 'smaller gap' results in less power (from the ignition coils) needed for the spark to jump accross the gap. I read it as 'smaller gap = less engine power' lol
  24. so using gapped spark plugs can actually result in less power ????
  25. took my car (r34 gtt) for a service recently incl. spark plugs changed. My car has only only light mods (exhaust and 11psi boost) and it's tuned and not missfiring. However the mechanic insisted the new spark plugs should be 0.75 gap even though my tuner said since the car is not missfiring any new spark plugs shouldn;t be gapped. Any harm in having new spark plugs with a smaller gap anyway ??
