    R35

The greatest aspect of the R35 for me is, you can slap on some decent rubber, flash in your E85 tune (thaks M ) and run near supercar like times at the track. At the end of the day, road tyres back on and literally drive home in leather clad comfort, climate control and all the fruit. Not to mention TRUE road manners. This sort of versatility is surely unmatched, let alone at this price. BUT.. for you regular track goers, are any of you worried about not having a cage? I wonder did Nissan anticipate this at all. And btw, did they run a cage in their Nordschleife record setting attempts? Does anyone have any info or data on the strength of the car? They spent a lot of time engineering this car, I wonder how strong it is, or how it would "perform" in a decent shunt? Who would know you think?
  5. Race mode traction control will allow more slip before intervention. It will not void your warranty. - Warranty issues are associated with turning VDC off completely.
  6. Adam, yep i think Marek and i both recognise what's missing. Testing just takes time, and (thus more) money. We will get there in time.
  7. I have this it's a bit sloppy (and bouncy!)
  8. I agree Martin it's diminishing returns for sure. I went from a 1:40.1 (used S9's slicks) to 1:38.9 (brand new S7's) ~ the combination of new S7's plus coilovers should have yielded more than that IMO. I might have to learn how to drive..
  9. We are running the RS Pros however Marek and I are running different spring rates. On midway-ish bump/rebound settings i was struggling to detect a difference (vs stocker setup) - despite massive spring rates (curiously) and was quite disappointed straight up to be frank; last time out at EC i ran a 1:40.1 on older slicks and this time (with fresh S7 slicks) i ran about 1.2 seconds faster. FWIW i would have expected at least a second from the new slicks alone. So i have not gained much at all [yet]. I tried tweaking the dampers but to be frank i don't know what i am doing. I can see from the onboard video (how the car is responding) that i need to get some proper advice on setup before i can say it was worth the (very considerable) cost to buy, install and corner weight the car. I want at least a second from the system at EC. So, until i get some proper advice on setup i am just not going to say either way. At this stage, out of the box, i have nothing positive to report, but there is work to do. One thing is for sure, it's not like adding power (e85) or buying grip (slicks) or reducing weight, which are all no brainers in comparison (not to mention much cheaper).
  10. Almost we are running michelin porsche cup slicks
  11. I am Glad you're ok Bill. it wasnt rubbing anywhere was it? how does the other side look?
  12. Mizuno will also tell you that it's important to have 400kg on each corner (which is why they "designed" ther r35 to be so heavy.. and why so many of us take weight out of the car..) and that Ethanol "is no use" on the vr38.... - it's marketing spin They definitely did implement launch control, they just happened to make it too aggressive and a few boxes bloew up (how many times have you launched out of the snow/mud at 4800rpm?) Wish they didnt use him to comment on stuff we all know is BS, it kind of cheapens his image for me
  13. I dont know about these "misconceptions"... i know what Nissan told me and i wasn't hearing things. it just depends on who you talk to really. Things will loosen up over time, i know nissan have missed out big time from me over the last year, i have literally spent tens of thousands on enhancements and consumables.
  14. you'll find as the pad meat gets less and less they cavitate around more
  15. rear pad rattle is "normal" however i would never call it "extreme". Just the odd clunk/clank. maybe something else going on if it really is extreme. you could try putting anti-squal (stick-on) shims (rear pads dont have them, whereas fronts do). if you are in sydney i have a bunch of the stick on anti-rattle shims if you want to try those.
  16. I went with a JRZ variant. Will report on spring rates in about two weeks time. Good you have the suspension issues sorted. Fwiw i had a 50mm DMS kit on my last car and it was pretty hard core!
  17. it's very tempting; i have four track days booked beforehand i see if i can fit it in (and afford it..).
  18. Martin can this be used to switch from your E85 to 98 maps?
  19. I've had the car for just over a year and i've done about 20 track days thus far (probably more). If bathurst is going to spoil what i am currently (really) enjoying so much is that such a good idea? one track event per year isn't going to cut it!
  20. thanks for the response. yep WSP are good (they have actually worked on my car before) i am actually waiting on Luke to get back to me on a quote. However they are 60km away from my place so not ideal (i have actually gone therte just for an alignment... three times!) They are good guys.
  21. Anyone recommend a place in Sydney to fit a new set of coilovers? I would prefer a place that has done work on r35's and who can do corner weighting and alignment in-house. Public transport nearby would be a bonus too. thoughts?
  22. pfft, Centurion mate (AKA "Black")
  23. So anyway here's an update on the stronger set i have been using (for a few months). The cheapie sets (red ones in pic below) seemed to stretch on the first use, and thereafter they were really difficult to get off (as thread was stretched) so even after a few uses they were just rooted, the thread was chewed out. I've used the new set (bronze colour in pics below) set for longer than the red ones, yet have a look at the difference in condition below: Some more pics http://www.forrestfamily.com.au/duncan/GTR...ts/P1010072.jpg http://www.forrestfamily.com.au/duncan/GTR...ts/P1010077.jpg There was only about $20 difference is the cost for each set. The bronze ones (about $100/set) are obviously much better/stronger/harder. I'll be sticking with these, great product, decent price.
  24. ANDRA drag rules - need to be teched etc. when running 10's or better

    Roof Panel

you mean the side panels on the top or the roof itself? i've seen a few side panels a bit warped. it's just a plastic panel that clips on. i think they are easily warped (taking it off to change windscreen for example).
